Description

Grow a tiny insect colony into a thriving swarm in Swarmloom Idle, a colorful idle game set in a garden.

Your insects eat plants automaticallyโ€”no repeated clicking on plants is needed. Collect Biomass, recruit more insects, upgrade their damage and discover species with unique abilities.

Use Spray to restart your garden run and earn DNA for upgrades. Progress further to unlock Extermination, new species and permanent bonuses through Genome Cores.

Complete daily and weekly quests, watch for Golden Plants with extra Biomass rewards, and choose whether to advance to tougher stages or return to earlier ones to gather resources.

The current version includes the first five Extermination species, a short introductory tutorial, local saving and an unlockable Offline Colony upgrade.

Recommended audience: ages 13 and up.

AI disclosure: Generative AI was used to create visual assets and assist with programming and in-game text. The music and ambient insect recordings are not AI-generated.

How to Play

Use the mouse to select insects, purchase upgrades and navigate the menus.

Your first Ant eats plants automatically. Wait for it to collect Biomass, then recruit another Ant and expand your colony. Clicking plants does not damage them.

Select species in SWARM OVERVIEW and use the green buttons in SELECTED INSECT to recruit insects or upgrade their damage.

Use the arrows beside STAGE to move between available stages. AUTO NEXT advances automatically when possible.

Spend DNA in MUTATIONS, BOOSTS and COLONY. Spend Genome Cores in EVOLUTION. Open QUESTS to view objectives and claim rewards.

SPRAY and EXTERMINATION explain their requirements, rewards and resets before you confirm.

Progress saves automatically in your browser. You can also save manually in SETTINGS. Clearing browser data may erase your save.

Balanced Swarms & Fair Regrowth

Thanks for your feedback! This update addresses issues reported by the community:

BALANCED INSECT GROUPS
Recruit purchases now distribute the total population evenly across up to three groups, whether you buy individually or in bulk. A population of 60 becomes 20/20/20; 61 becomes 21/20/20. Existing groups keep their attack timing and ability counters.

CONSISTENT PLANT REGROWTH
During a session, switching away from a stage and returning now preserves damaged plants and existing regrowth timers. Quickly switching between stages no longer instantly refills the garden. Regrowth time continues while you are away, without generating off-stage Biomass.

CLEARER TUTORIAL
The Aphid tutorial now highlights only the Aphid selection cell, making the next action easier to follow.

Plant HP, prices, Biomass rewards, reset requirements and Badge objectives remain unchanged.

Thank you for playing our games and helping us improve Swarmloom Idle!

Hi Robbuzz! Thanks for your interest in Swarmloom Idle! There isn't an official Discord channel at the moment, but it's definitely something I'll consider as the community grows. The game is already available on Kongregate, and an Android version is currently in testing for release on Google Play. I'm also planning to bring it to other platforms in the future. Thanks for playing and for your support!

An idle game should be able to run, even while I'm not focused on it.
As it is now, the game pauses, when I use another app, even when the game is open on another screen.

Hi Candibal, thank you so much for pointing this outโ€”youโ€™re absolutely right. Iโ€™ve just published update 1.0.3, which removes the pause caused by losing focus, so your insects should keep working when you switch tabs or use another application, including on another screen. Iโ€™ve tested background progression in Chrome and Opera, and plants continue being consumed and Biomass collected. Please refresh the game and give it another try. If it still pauses in your browser, please let me know. Thanks again for your helpful feedback and for giving the game a chance!

when i got to population 10 and i added in quantity of 10 i got very strange groups. with population 60 i got two 23 insects and one 14. not three 20. when you add them one by one the groups get filled so they stay the same

Thanks for reporting this, Stefan! Youโ€™re rightโ€”60 insects should be split into three groups of 20. Hereโ€™s what currently happens: imagine your groups contain 14, 13 and 13 insects. Buying 10 adds all ten to one of the smaller groups, giving 14/23/13. Buying another 10 fills the remaining smaller group, giving 14/23/23โ€”exactly the uneven split you noticed. No insects are missing, but bulk purchases arenโ€™t balancing the groups correctly. This will be fixed in the next build so buying individually or in batches produces the same balanced distribution.

The problem with this game is that it is not an idle game. The most efficient way to play is to switch between two levels you can clear quickly. HP scales much faster than the biomass rewards and the upgrades do nothing to remedy this. It would be closer to an idle game if plants had instant regrowth instead of delayed.

Thanks for the detailed feedback! Swarmloom is designed around automatic combat, farming and increasingly powerful resets. Upgrades do contribute to progression, although plant HP grows faster than the base Biomass reward. Your point about switching stages to avoid regrowth is fair: changing stages rebuilds the plants, which can give active switching an advantage over waiting. I havenโ€™t confirmed whether it is the fastest overall strategy, so I donโ€™t want to dismiss that concern. Thanks for explaining exactly what feels unrewarding about the current pacing.

Sugestion ... each plant bed should have different HP also different bio reward , them all being the same on each stage don't make sense or just have one big plant bed for each stage....

condruzmf

Thanks for the suggestion! The matching base HP and Biomass rewards across the three beds are intentional. Each plant is still an independent target, and insects spread their attacks across the garden, so the beds donโ€™t function as one shared health pool. Different rewards and difficulty between beds could add another strategic layer, but would also change targeting and progression balance. Itโ€™s an interesting alternative rather than an oversight in the current design. Thanks for taking the time to share it!
