update on previous flaw in game. it pauses everything if you are not looking directly at the flash window. you scroll down and the game stops untill you look at it. not what I would call an idle game...

@DracosBlackwing it's just a damage multiplier like.. if you had an amazing quality toothpick that's 2000% better than normal, would it be better at mining than an iron pickaxe at 100%?

I went from a pick with 1195% quality (which is supposed to indicate rarity) to one with a 475% quality... yet the lower quality one is the better one? I'm confused.

@bova45 how are you on hellstone lvl 75, I have Mythical Ultimate Pick +15 P:1,556.11b Qual:2505% and I can only do hellstone lvl 87

Quality IS power, coz more the quality of your pick is higher more u multiplicate ur pick's power, for exemple if u're base pick damage is on 20b and u have a 2000% quality your pick deal 400b but if you have 30b base and 1200% quality your pick deal 360b so actually if i want a pick with a good power with 1500% quality (average quality in this game, too much gem to go higher) i have to have 28b base pick damage. SSo when you have like 2000+% quality u can say you have for a lot of time before you can get a more powerful pick

The easiest way to get money and gems is to go to the highest ore that you can mine with one single click and if your (autoclick is higher it gives you more) and spam the ore to get loads of money and gems. also here is a link to a very useful calculator for the game. it helps determine wich ore to mine for the most money. here's the link: http://www.kongregate.com/games/SteelGiant/idle-mine-calculator

open it, choose the flash player on the bottom,
Click Enable speed hack
turn it to 500.0
and now click apply

@AlienKatze, I got gem waster 133. The next one is gem waster 454 and costs 900,000,000.00o. When I saw that I was like WTF, I won't afford that for awhile.

so i have a pick with a power of 5,456,312 and i get off then get back on today and now i have a pick with a power of 15.53b. What?

I think the upgrade cap for certain abilities (Blacksmith skill + expertise) should be raised. I'd like this simple, yet brilliant game to be more rewarding with gem use late game, as I'm finding myself (and like many others, I'm sure) to be forced to walk away for a couple of days only to be rewarded with a single upgrade for the blacksmith..... It's killing me slowly.
