What i did was i started....amde my disease totally invisible...bought all the transmissions, 1-1-1-4 infected every country bought a couple symptoms to make it more catchy infected the world then made it deadly.

1)Pick Virus. 2)Start in Canada, New Zealand, Cuba, Greenland, or Madagascar.If you do not get there restart. 3)Sell starting symptoms, if any, and buy sneezing. 4)Buy 1-1-1-0 resistances and all transmissions. 5) Once three countries are infected, sell sneezing to get rid of visibility. 6)Wait until all countries are infected. @throwme2: Selling is strategic. Some symptoms increase visibility (bad). The "money" is Evolution Points so any change requires them. Vomiting is great for spreading infection, but the combined cost of buying (to spread) and selling (to slow infection) is too great to use other than Madagascar (where infecting quickly is more important than saving EPs.)

@tlwolf: You need Drug4 to avoid the "Half-Life Effect" - only half the people die each day. Very frustrating when the last 10K just won't die. A game that can be won in under a month with Drug4 can take 4 months with Drug3.

Hmmm... this is weird. I don't know if any of you are getting this, but have you seen any other traits besides Durable and Virus when you play Virus? It's the same for others as well. Is it just me, or is this is a widespread problem?

Better system: Virus. Cuba, Greenland, Madagascar, or New Zealand. Buy Sneezing, Coughing. If Madagascar, buy Vomiting. Buy Moisture1, Heat1, Cold1. Sell Sweating. When non-starter region @4K infected, sell Vomiting; @8K, sell Coughing; @30K sell Sneezing. Wait for all infected. Buy in order: Drug4, Coughing, Hemorrhaging, Pulmonary Edema, Diarrhea, Kidney Failure, Hypersensitivity, Fever, Fatigue.

I do not understand why people are still flooding the comments with a poor strategy; are they hoping nobody will achieve the Impossible badge? Check my comments for why the frequently posted strategy is flawed and a better strategy.

@coolman4563: Once a country closes its available methods of entry, a very small chance exists for infection. If uninfected Madagascar closes its shipyard or Peru closes its borders, wait 10 days then restart if still uninfected. Australia has shipyards and airports (no borders); if both close without infection, wait a few days and pray, but the game is probably lost.
