The previously posted strategy is flawed. Tried it several times and had 2-3 countries shutting down every time. Start in any country with a virus with fever as the only symptom. Get drug resistance. Pick a transmission method. Rodent and waterborne are both good starts. Eventually add first level of other resistances. Wait until infection spreads to entire world. Don't freak out if Madagascar closes its airports and shipyards. It can still be infected with only its borders open. If/when a vaccine production begins, buy remaining levels of drug resistance. Once the entire world is infected, pile on with the symptoms that increase chance of death and buy any remaining transmission methods. As the death toll rises and point generation slows down, go back and buy lower tier symptoms like sneezing, coughing, vomiting, etc., that help spread the disease. I killed off the entire world in under 100 days in both relaxed and realistic modes using this method.

that is so not fair! I did all u sed to do, it does work on relaxed. but.. I infected every country, killed everyone in them, except for madagascar. they stayed non infected. SO NOT FAIR!!!

Tried pev. strat suggestion, had 2-3 countries shutting down every time. Started with virus, fever, method of transmission, drug resistance. Added more methods of transmission and low visibility symptoms as things progressed. When entire world was infected, piled on with more heavy duty damaging symptoms and drug resistance. As death rates escalated, went back and added more lower tier high visibility symptoms that help spread the disease as point generation slowed down. Got it on the second try.
