Under rating threshold (show) There is 5% chance always for re-election... Btw, can any1 post the lobby link? I would like to became a lobbist, but without the auth key, the lobby is inaccessible.

+ - !

(1)

Developer response from delosford

I posted the link in a sticky in the general post. You have to log out of kongregate, follow the link, then log in. Also, be aware that the game isn't exactly playable yet. It's just an HTML realtime chat after you get done with character creation, but it'll start to be playable in the next couple days/weeks.

Under rating threshold (show) How the heck did Moses Malone survive reelection? He had "awful" CS on 31st.

The Speaker Of The House automatically wins reelection (IRL the Speaker can be anyone, not just a member of congress).

Under rating threshold (show) @q, i mean that apparently party affilation has nothing to do with binaries being struck down, and it only happens to immoral bills or something, yet it got struck down.

+ - !

(0)

Developer response from delosford

What bills get challenged at all depends on the bill itself and the constitution. It's not generated, it's something I put in ahead of time. Any major bill that can be challenged will be challenged (as in real life). The supreme court decides on the case mostly based on their affiliation, but they aren't purely partisan and the AG can swing things quite a bit. Whether the AG chooses to intervene or not depends on the affiliation of the AG and the bill in question.

Under rating threshold (show) Will there be any way to protect yourself from assassinations/thugs in the future (i.e. hiring a bodyguard)?

+ - !

(0)

Developer response from delosford

You can already do this by passing the congressional security/martial law bills. While in effect, they offer protection of 1 and 3 levels, respectively, to everyone in the game. If you mean something on a personal level, nothing is currently implemented as I don't want cash to be too powerful. I may add something in the future, but it may also be scandalous (bribing the police or somesuch).

Under rating threshold (show) Is there a way to get rid of poison pills on a bill

+ - !

(1)

Developer response from delosford

Conference committee can remove poison pill, though your fellow congresspersons have to vote to help you out. If you don't have CC, try asking for one on your bill in team/party chat.

Under rating threshold (show) How are calculations for the list of countries being done? I mean, we have really bad GDP, really bad pop growth, health, taxes and congressional sallaries and we are third on the list. Doesn't seem right. High happiness and low debt shouldn't get us that high with shitty other stats. Just thinking out loud.

+ - !

(1)

Developer response from delosford

GDP growth and population growth are not part of the formulas directly. Eventually they'll tank the nation if left negative for a number of weeks.

Under rating threshold (show) I think the guy below mean how it was ruled unconstitutional

+ - !

Banning something out of fuzzy feel good intentions isn't exactly in-line with the constitution, and it being struck down has nothing to do with immorality.

Under rating threshold (show) This game should have some kind of daily reward, possibly? More incentive for people to check/play daily, and give the veteran players more "fair" rewards!

+ - !

(1)

Developer response from delosford

This is commonly listed as the #1 thing that people hate about these types of games... so I don't think that'd be a good idea. The reward is that you get to advance quicker as you'll be using more energy/stress.

Under rating threshold (show) Oh....yea..whatever you said, that's just my theory cuz i have seen many anti-capitalist bills getting challenged :P.

+ - !

(1)

Developer response from delosford

The constitution of the united states is set up such that the federal government doing much of anything is potentially unconstitutional. Obviously lifting bans of things and removing taxes can't be subject to a challenge. As such, the challenge system favors the libertarian party somewhat... but that's kind of how the constitution is written.

SaladinSpartan

Mar. 30, 2013

Under rating threshold (show) The citizens of countries are mostly buisennes men. when theres a bill like max wage then it would obviously get challenged. Though something like "Repeal child labor laws" would be ignored and passed. The citizens call challenges on bills and your only chance of getting a anti-capitalist bill to pass court is having lots of anti-capatilist supreme court....am i right ?.......therefore citizens only call challenges on bills that will give them cons and not benefits.

+ - !

(1)

Developer response from delosford

This is not correct. Any bill that could potentially run afoul of the constitution is subject to a constitutional challenge.

Under rating threshold (show) I scored a gaff with "Equate Taxes To Thievery" on "Regressify Tax Law". How does that make sense when regressifying reduces taxes?

+ - !

It doesn't reduce taxes. In fact, an ability text of that ability references exactly why it doesn't apply in that situation.

Mar. 29, 2013

Under rating threshold (show) @balony67 Gerrymandering is the process of altering voting districts to make the vote lean more your way whereas think tank payoff allows a bill to get a boost by paying people, illegally, to help with the process

+ - !

this is correct. sort of. Think tank alters how rational debate works on the think tanked bill.

Under rating threshold (show) Why does the smartphone decrease intelligence while the scepter decreases charisma? That seems backwards. :-/

+ - !

(2)

The scepter is a lavish display of wealth and makes people dislike you. The trendy smartphone decreases it as it's something trendy (ie purchased for reasons other than its merits). That's the theme of that line of T3 gear.

Under rating threshold (show) i believe that the greens party win bill should be changed. the real greens party would NEVER go out of their way to kill people, they'd just completely neglect them, so it could be, for example "cut all public health funding"

+ - !

(1)

Developer response from delosford

Legalizing homicide is exactly what you describe. It doesn't encourage homicide. (also, I've actually gotten a lot of gleeful comments from green party members about that bill. I know more than a few of those types IRL and they do actually hate humanity/think we should all die. It's an oddly common opinion amongst them.)

Under rating threshold (show) @billybobojo: Yes. Also, if you have the skeletons in your closet trait and you get investigated on a really serious thing (e.g. assassination) you can get sent to prison and therefore have to restart.

+ - !

(1)

Developer response from delosford

Only the background trait "skeletons in your closet" can result in prison. Most scandals are indirect/suggestive enough that their discovery isn't really sufficient for a criminal case (or it's about something that congresspersons have immunity for).

billybobojo

Mar. 25, 2013

Under rating threshold (show) If you have less scandals, is there less of a chance of an investigation finding a scandal?

+ - !

(0)

Developer response from delosford

Yes. Each scandal has an individual chance of discovery, which is checked against when your investigation roll is sufficiently high.

lynx45678

Mar. 25, 2013

Under rating threshold (show) I had an idea! For the campaign contributions, the contributors wouldn't want to give money to the congressman, and then have it fail, right? So, for every time a campaign contribution fails or just sets out and rots, the remaining contributions are devalued, and if they successfully passed a contribution, or several of them, they get a small boost in value for the next contribution they accept?

+ - !

(0)

Developer response from delosford

Seems a bit complicated. Also, generally speaking, reinforcing desirable behavior works better than trying to discourage undesirable behavior.
