Description

foggy fields is a game with very diverse influences. Roots in games such as Otocky, Rez, Lumines, and Chime are evident, but the game is also heavily inspired by composers such as John Cage, Steve Reich, and Philip Glass, the game’s title being derived from a quote from Glass about composing music.

In foggy fields, the lines between player, composer, and audience become blurred. The music is paradoxically pre-determined and random, as well as being fully interactive.

How to Play

In foggy fields, you control an orb that is attached to a beatline. As the beatline moves across the screen, so will you. You can, however, move up and down by using arrow keys, the 'W' and 'S' keys, or holding the shift key and using the mouse.

When you click the left mouse button, you will begin to charge up shots, which will be released when you unclick your mouse. These shots will go in the direction of the position of the last place your cursor was on the screen.

Shoot the blocks in each stage to energize them. When they reach full energy, they will make sounds in rhythm with the other music. Fully energize all of the blocks in a stage to move to the next stage.

As you are playing the game, be careful not to run your orb into any other objects, as this will cause you to lose progress.

Very neat little game! I really enjoyed the piano pulse level, very light and airy. I would suggest going in a similar direction for the other songs, keeping their theme, but livening them up a bit!
