yes, you can get more ships, but it's just sorta hard. score more kills to unlock more ships, and raise your rank. this is a great game! i have like 300 kills by now!

Your Rank just shows your progress in the game I surpose. I am almost at 'Admiral of the Fleet' Rank, which I will get at 25,600 kills. But new Ranks are achieved at the following amount of kills.
25, 50, 100, 200, 400, 800, 1,600, 3,200, 6,400, 12,800, 25,600
You will also unlock a new ship at each of those Ranks except for 6,400 and 25,600.

Alblaka, thanks! I have reached it. Admiral plus Hydra Destroyer. I am not sure about using it though, 'cause it comes with fewer regular slots like you said, kinda a super upgrade of the Nymph, losing the second proximity slot tho'. It looks fun to use it and switch weapons from my trusted thunder bolt torpedoes tho'.

to do a mission you have to click on it then leave the station and the mission will start. and yes, multiplayer was awesome...

3201 Kills is the Hydra/Enforcer, kinda a Ultra-Nymph... 6401 is the special spacemap and on 12801 you get ACW or Elite

crash2243, I now have exactly 2575 kills and counting. ;-) I want to know what kind of promotion comes next after the 1600 kill-ish Commodore one. I am guessing that I am going to find it out perhaps at most 3200 kills. I also want to know what kind of ship is going to become available with that. I fare well in somewhat repetitive games I guess. ;-)

I went fairly consistently to threat 1 sectors when I bought hyperspace recharger engine for the Warship I had. I bought the most expensive one. But then I sold it all to give the Battleship a try just to sell it too and buy another Warship with the engine I like, the one that gives 1.6x more top speed. Right now I have over 2100 kills.

Xiad, Yes I have. Threat 1 sectors are quite fun but too dangerous with spawning enemy ships all the time. When an enemy ship hits you with some kind of EMP missile sending your ship defenseless for several seconds it can nearly kill you if the enemy or enemies take the chance to mount on you. ;-) What ended up killing me once in a threat 1 sector was another Vortex Bomb though.

Commodore. Sorry. Been promoted to Commodore. Dogfighting sounds like fun. There's an Alien ship called Defender that is quite strong at chasing me around. I was playing with it once and it killed my Warship. The other ways my Warship died had mainly happened due to Vortex Bomb, which I've been making use of every now and then.

I've just been promoted to Commander with over 1600 kills. It enabled the "Medusa Battleship". I would not be able to venture with this Battelship into enemy ambushes the way I can with the Warship because the Warship comes with two utility slots and the Battleship comes with none and it basically screws over the fighting strategies I've come up with for the Warship.

And I also later learned to use the utility "LASS Stealth System" to either escape trouble or ambush the enemy. Try to kill 10 or so enemies any time you leave your base sector. I would not fight only in my base sector because sometimes you lose kills to friend firing.

I tried a couple of ships but I think the best ones are "Chariot Fast Attack", "Minotaur Assault" and now "Warship". I later found out that suffering when trying to use the "Laser Beam" was not worth it so I would load as many "Thunder Bolt Torpedoes" as possible. Lately I found the mines which are "Thunder Bolt" or so to be worth it as well so make use of them to kill enemies just behind you.

Here are the steps. I made of Sector 10-4 my base because it is quite close to the enemy line and I fought most of the time in the sectors just above it to the left so when I wanted some serious kills I would go to the Sectors ranging from 9-1 to 9-4 which are threat 0.55 or so. I would avoid ambushes due to slow ship.

I just got the 801 kills badge and also got promoted to Captain and bought the Warship made available and loaded it with all sorts of massive weapons. Watch out aliens! ;-)

It's very sad about what happened to this once great game. The next installment of SFDG is going to be released this October, and hopefully all the hackers will all die spontaneously.
