So at the start any builds are wrong except strength because the first few equipments you get... are heavy armor required the skill and 40 strength... this is terrible

I have to admit, this is one of my favourite RPGs of all time. I can only think of one other game that could top this, and that game is Pathfinder, Kingmaker. Well Done, devs :)
Many thanks for your kind words. We are hard-at-work on both the next big Guilds upgrade and Zone 5, so we are hopeful that the not-so-distant future will bring more content to enjoy with your Guildmates, and add the next chapter to the story for Players to enjoy :-)

You should make the troops and generals more durable. It is very frustrating to have have your army injured all the time. And the cost and time to heal is not for F2P.
You may need to enable 3D/Hardware Acceleration if you're using Chrome in order to view the 3D model. Other than that, it's going to be a client-side specific issue, as it's definitely functioning properly in game/on the server :-)

Devs i love you! DotD died and you replaced my shattered heart, with a gold one! DotV forever! cant wait to kit up in energy stamina and honor armor and save every adventurer in need... soon they grow to become warriors... and legends... they go on to save new adventurers themselves... and eventually. then the void eats them. welp. lol
Hey there! The progression pacing probably depends on when you played Dawn; if you played in the first 3-4 years, then it's leagues faster than Dawn play was [we have now had two Players reach Level 1000, in just over 2 months of play, and two more may reach it in another week or so]. If you played in years 4-8, then yes: It's definitely going to feel slower, as several "catch up" methods had to be available to ensure newer Players could viably compete.
The bigger difference you'll likely find is the additional degrees of customization that previous games never offered. *You* decide how you want to progress and how your character is going to specialize; there is no "one single META" that Players are effectively-forced into following.
We hope you enjoy your play, all the same! :-)

Part 2: I can use up all of my vitality and energy in a quest and raid in under a minute. After that, you can't do anything, or you hope to gain a level, to gain another minute of play time.
While I am curious to see how far I can go, this type of system just isn't fun. The timer for recovery is incredibly slow, which is discouraging.
So unless you want to buy KREDS and buy crystals to get potion packs, just remember, you are maybe gaining 10 or 20 minutes more game time.
The game is fun, but it's just not a game you can spend time grinding or building up skills. Skill building seems to fall in the lines of the game Forge of Empires.

Hello dev and readers. Well I mentioned that this game reminded of another game (which appears to be gone forever). Well now I remember the similarities of that one and this game. When you start, in both, you have the bare bones of what you need to get started. And in both games, you are given consumables (potions or food) to use to recover energy and vitality.
Sadly, once those are gone, you will soon realize how abruptly the game stops being so fun.

A lot of people here say they seem to remember a game similar. But the one that this game reminds me of, is a game where you start off as a kid, who has to survive by working for NPCs, completing quests, learning skills, etc. The player portraits were from 17th century paintings of nobles. I gave up on the game, because I kept dying from starvation, injury, or disease. For the life of me, I can't remember the game's name, but this game has a similar atmosphere, but better. :)

I love the game. Make sure to only get the sword proficiency from the tech tree before level 10, to make leveling faster. Its easy to bog your leveling down if you don't follow the tutorial.
Hey there! There are a whole batch of different options of how to play: I imagine asking in the World chat, or in the Discord, would lead to a considerable body of advice and suggestions to help you on your journey! If you want to stick to in-game help, Mauritio is always willing to lend a helping hand :-)

Excellent story-telling that makes up for the repetitive elements waiting for energy to replenish and to press some attack button
We appreciate your kind words. Like many games, there are definitely some elements that repeat, but we are working hard to provide new content that will expand what can be done while waiting for other areas of play to cool/refresh :-)

Brings back memories from DotD. Game sure isn't finished, but it's a nice fill if you liked it.
Keep in mind as F2P you'll need to make some early game decision to make the game play easier
(like before lvl 10: spend only 1 point in the Fortitude tree for some nice damage increase through a class bonus)
Hey there! The game is constantly growing, and you can expect to see substantive development in the not-too-distant future! A big boon for F2P will come when Achievements are released [and that is planned to be the next "big" item!]

Enjoying this game! Reminds me of an old one I played many years ago on facebook... thanks for bringing back great memories and excited to see content updates come in the future
Hey there! If you reach out on the Discord, we can look into it. I suspect you did, in fact receive the item: Did you check the Profile Page rather than the Potions quick-menu?

Suffers from one of the great problems that things that should be in the game are instead located in Google Sheets made by players (such as loot tables) meaning you're usually playing this with a Google Sheet open.
Hey there!
One of the aspects of an earlier game that this was largely modeled upon was that it was up to the community to discover the 'inner workings' of the game. Sometimes this was exciting, and sometimes this was needlessly tedious.
The DotV Dev team is comprised of both Dev's and Players from that game, including those that performed such data compilation. We recognized that some things were unnecessarily painful to have to 'uncover', and we took steps to ensure that data is readily available. However, some of the joy of the game comes from the community aspect, so we ultimately decided to leave some of the finer details for Players to work out. That being said, we provided ample means for Players to identify changes and accelerate these discoveries in most instances.
The game is planned to receive regular updates and new content, like many games found here on Kongregate. That said, if you're looking for a one-and-done game that never sees further developer reviews, customer service, product updates or community interaction, this may not be what you're looking for, and we wish you well on whatever adventures suit you best :-)

This is yet another time/energy-limiting mobile-style money-grab game, with a model based on annoying the player into paying to be allowed to actually play more than a minute every few hours. I would discourage players from investing nay time into it, and Kongregate from encouraging such developers.

you take inspiration from games that us enrgy and refuse to learn change or update your games core flaws. You ignore comments that would require a more nuanced response then "sorry you feel our game is a leech on your time and or wallet" because you want cash.
Hey there!
The Developers are all gamers first, and have drawn upon some significant experience in initial development. Of course, we don't rely solely upon our own expertise, but have undertaken almost 4 full years of consultation and Beta Testing to identify and address concerns.
Like any game, this may not appeal equally to everyone, nor do we expect we will please 100% of prospective players 100% of the time, but we have certainly "learned" and "updated" innumerable aspects of the product to enhance and improve the release version :-). We also don't expect most of our Players to pay, which is why it is neither necessary, nor even overtly encouraged (though it is available for those who wish to). We are working on our next big update, which should include an even more significant means to earn more free, in-game currency, and that will come out before new "sale" items (for that currency) are released.
Hey there! Guilds are 100% Player derived and maintained, but if you ask in the World Chat I imagine several people would love to have another active Player join them!

another game that takes our stuff away from us when we level up. it fills the bar, meaning we LOSE. so out of the small play that the bars give, leveling up screws us. it is awful when games do this. no one should want to play to have their small play chances robbed byb the game itself. no way.

the page scrolling is quite annoying, moves the kong page so often. how to stop that? and a number of times when i tried to log in it just said logging in and would not. i used a 20x attack and i think enemy did not need all 20 to be killed, but it used up all 20 from me anyway. i dont see explain of how to get reward from raids, like how much damage done effects drop rate? the kong page constantly moving from mouse scroll is awful.

@dragonsofthevoid yes player gets energy potions etc but after getting to 3rd area and clearing 1st dungeon there and cleared 2nd partially I was down to 6 homebrews, 3 potions and 1 concentrate (sure some might been used when energy bar was near full) so I doubt that I could have finished 3rd area with those remaining since 50 energy and more is used just to get to boss which consumes even more energy. Only consumable on market is lesser health potion (helps really a lot (not)) so it'd have take long time to clear 3rd area.
Apparently energy regain is 1 point every 2 mins so getting full energy (55) back after no consumables would take near 2 hrs (so every 2 hrs hit some monster 8 times before waiting again).
Game has nice concept but that's it, clickfest to get on boss and again clickfest (since autoattack doesn't work all the time) and if runs out of energy and consumables then it's long wait ahead.
With 25 strength doing 1 point dmg is really "encouraging".

It looks like enemt damage reduces energy for some reason, not vitality. So I don't run out of life at all, but energy goes faster than expected.
Hey there! Questing represents your general adventuring, and the damage is representative of general negative impacts, not just "getting beat up" :-). Many instances will, through the story, involve actual combat, but others can be stress, lack of sleep and such, too. This damage can be mitigated by Defence (more noticeable at higher Difficulties).
The bar you're describing sounds like your Energy bar, not health.
Finally, Quest Bosses can damage your health, and require Energy to defeat, not Vitality.
We are glad you seem to be enjoying your adventure thus far!

Why am I taking damage (a significant amount of my total health) just walking? And given that I've leveled from 1 to 2 from walking, do I gather that I've never done that before?

if you launch a game at a new platform, then atleast create a new server. playing for few hours to just find out you play with ppl that have been playing for over a year is just kinda meh.
The game launched in January, 2024 for everyone. Those you refer to were playing our open beta, in which all accounts were wiped before the official January 2024 launch.

@Dev Do you really think Croidin is so common that it's not me that uses it? Like i said, likely i created an account already, but it's very strange i cannot use it to play... i only can create a new one (with another name, obviously)!
I am away on some personal/family business, so I am not in a position to check, but I would assume that to be the case. If you reach out to me (LanderZ) on our Discord, we can look into it more when I have an opportunity, and should be able to sort it out in a mutually agreeable manner :-)
In the meantime, please enjoy the game! Things like Username can be figured out later, so please do not let that delay or detract from your playtime!
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
"Username already exists", so i apparently tried this game before? Why is there no option to choose your previous char again then, instead of only having the option to create a new one?
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
No, just no, too much clicking, battles get paused until replenishes energy (either via consumables or waiting quite a long time depending how much invested on energy stat (2 mins per point and if has 50 that's 2.5 hrs of waiting and wasted time) and couldn't find energy related consumables from market (not that "hero" has gold to buy much which brings up other issue aka loot which is just too small early) and once gets better equipment not enuf stats to equip those and due lack of energy (unless waits looooooooooooooooooong time) can't even try to get those stats.
Might be decent game but just too many bad things.
We're sorry it wasn't to your liking [notwithstanding the... interesting... math, there]. You unlock more items in the Market as you continue your adventure, but you begin with a significant number of Consumables to assist you in the earliest sections of play. There is also a thriving community who would be happy to assist you with specific questions about how best to progress, in the World Chat :-)

cant make a female character. doesnt look like can change appearance later either. so they will always be lower. i dislike so much about this game. and to have to choose between stats and energy for how is played, i very dislike so many things about the way the game is made. etc.
Hey there! The female avatar is being worked on, and we will ensure all existing accounts will have free access to switch to it, if they desire, upon its release. So, never fear falling behind on that front.
As for having to choose, an important feature of this game is that your choices matter! Your choices will influence how you grow and develop, but you are always growing: If you decide to change paths, you're absolutely capable of doing so :-). If picking the proverbial 'red pill or blue pill' led to the same result, what was the purpose of the choice in the first place? ^.^
