I am in the bricks/planks camp, and also enjoy machetes. Ropes are decent, but not guaranteed with the current seasonal gift.
Bricks and planks saves energy, as I would otherwise have to craft them myself.
I don't want to have to keep changing my profile picture for one game, but I appreciate it when others do - it does make it easier.

I usually prefer to receive the seasonal free gift (such as Christmas candy currently), especially if it's something that gives energy (or ropes), so that's also what I usually send, but I really don't care, anything is welcome, and I assume that's the case also with the majority of others who don't put it in profile picture, we just play this casually and don't care.

@HEZYA I understand your need to venting, this game can be frustrating sometimes. And for gifts if there is no hint in the profil pics, than you can send planks or clay bricks. This is always needed in the game and you don't need to guess. I hope you keep having fun with the game.

Venting a bit:
1- Boys, it's hard to give you free gift if there is no hint in your profile picture. I'm trying to guess what you can need.
2- The fact that i can spam out up to 300 gifts but can receive only 20 is making me nuts!

@CrimsonCat87, don't focus on the 150 grown meerkats quest, you'll complete it by doing main quests. And don't bother with the 5 meerkat daily quest, rewards are not worth the effort.

Raising Meerkats is tedious, but I did it(!), I finished the quest to sell 50 full-grown Meerkats!

No confirmation for rushing things either. The POV and layering without confirmations makes so many things tedious and easy to mess up and of course there's no undoing things like that. Enough QOL problems make this game really hard to want to play long-term.

@Sir_Jelle, you need to join the Kongregate discord server first, then search for the oceania-chat. For the portal, I think it's located in the 'Crown' tab/section of you backpack after you have completed the quest 'Apply the Blueprint'. Sometimes the game glitches and I can see and interact with items that are hidden by larger items (for example the wild piglets hidden by the rubber trees). Does anyone know how I can purposefully make this glitch happen?

Why is the quest "Flytrap Processing" the main quest if it's unlocked by finishing the ironman quest about flytraps? It's the only main quest unlocked by ironman quest.

This game trying to be funny.... After the event I had a lot of ill animals so i figure it's just easier to sell and restart. Log back in less then 2 hours later(got to feed to babies) and the game gives me that special random I have revived everything. Got to love that timing lol.

@tobybob, i noticed the little hand!
When on friends islands, i search first for crops ( thumbs up - crops dont communicate when they are out of time ) then animals in dire need of food ( orange or red outline ) and after for any other item that have a thumb up or an open hand. It's easy :D
And i'm more than happy if friends gather wood, honey or clay for me, it's less expensive on friends islands!

watch the hand that appears when you hover over friends' crops/animals, it shows thumbs up if nobody has harvested yet and thumbs down if the object has been harvested

@Iergo For me when on a friends island I can pick/feed any crop/animal, even those already fed or picked by someone else. Once I have picked/fed that crop/animal I can't do it again. This way there is always a way to help and spend the 5 daily tokens even on island with few options.

@HEZYA @dragon91 It is not normally possible to harvest/feed a crop/animal already in yellow, is it? Only items with special or multiple 'loads' (water wells and others) can be used when they are yellow, in my experience. My theory about crops being harvested twice, is that both players visited your island (or mine) at the same time while the crops were not marked as yellow yet. Am I wrong all along? :-)

@HEZYA Picking crops gives spices an ingredient for energy items. So some may be a bit greedy for them especially after a big energy event. As for the animals you may not know, but you can move/swap the same animals in place. So if you have a sick animal you can swap it with 1 of the same type being fed by someone else and revive it without a health pack.

@HEZYA, you get spice packs from the Mask Collection, after you get the wine fountain from it, which requires you to craft machettes, which are unlocked after completing the Stone Bridge.

@HEZYA Ty that helps with the last few. Now I'm stuck on clay pots. wiki says crafting and slim chance from treasure island. This is just bad event design to require an item you can basicly only craft and hide it behind a quest lock. If I craft non-stop I should just make it, but then I have to mass spend items for energy to finish

@silver Ty, but I cleaned out desert and volcano already so I guess Im stuck farming thorny bush for the 120+ I need. I still have 40 houses and 24 candles to finish.

@dragon91, you can also get thorny twigs from stones, camel-thorns and desert thorns from the Desert Island, lucky gifts, and black thorns on the Volcano Island.

I've ran out of nail materials again. Is there a way to gather the thorny twigs I'm missing(like ducks and liana for rope) or is it just the thorn bush and that 1 specific jungle style?

I'm stuck on the Christmas 2025 - repaired the lighthouse, and now I'm supposed to chart my way, but can't seem to do anything. Tried using the Rosy Star, but there's no way to activate it.
