2 spice (+100%) to craft gingerbread - Devs are crazy, or just trying to kill the game and make players leave. Its hard enough to earn spice.

"Todays announcement is not fun . We have doubled the amount needed to craft Gingerbread. Some things in this game hurts its progression and we know its tough to take away players toys, but sometimes you just need to. Don’t hate us too much and have a good weekend."
Just after I posted a review that was in good favour of the game! Thank you very much Devs, it looks like we lost a couple of long-time players just because of this decision of yours. Pray tell, in what way does crafting gingerbread at the previous rate hurt game progression?
As it is now, this is only a small game community and spice is precious and hard to come by. Your decision to raise the price for gingerbread/cookies will only lead to more double-harvesting and other unsocial behaviour but it will not entice players to buy creds for rubies or whatever you may have thought it would lead to.
I may not hate you too much but you lose a star nonetheless.

Thanks Jappipi - I have 24 plants left. It seems from my limited experimentation that the Oysters spawn on empty spots so I wonder if I clear space then there is the more chance there is for them to appear. I have had 2 on one day but only 1 the next even after I had cleared an extra plant. I will keep clearing when I have spare energy and see what happens.

I appreciate that we're having a good discussion here. (Some of) the Oceanians do eventually come across as smart, which is great, but they are still very much built around racist tropes and they should have fixed that before launching it here. It wasn't cool when the original game came out but things liked that happened back then. However we've all learnt a lot in the last decade. It's definitely not cool in 2023/4 when we all know better. It's not just about broken English but about a specific racist cadence of broken English that is "black coded" and, as we see, only applied to the black inhabitants. I am trying very hard to preserve my island but it's getting more and more difficult because the game really pushes you to destroy everything, which I dislike immensely. That's also exactly how colonialism functioned/functions. Having said that, I really what @Kitsunegao, @Shipscat, and @dursus have done with their islands.

My two cents on all this is that it feels overall like a 3-star game to me. I agree with much of what both Kit and W4M are saying. There's a lot of fun stuff here, but there's also a good amount of problems too. So, somewhere around 3 stars feels reasonable, at least to me.

As far as skin color and clothing choice is concerned I pretty much agree with Kitsunegao. Nevertheless it should have been adjusted by now ... maybe a more international community will initiate a change. And the native Oceanians seem to be the cleverer inhabitants the longer I follow the game. XD
I like the usually kind and helpful community ... havn't experianced toxic tendancies so far.
I cannot judge if this game and its community are better or worse than others - admittedly Oceania is my first and only experiance. The game is not perfect for surebut for me it's likeable and interesting enough to keep me here.

@w4m4w "This game is colonialist (razing pristine indigenous environments to build junk like castles), misogynistic (why is the clothing gendered?), and racist (why can't players be anything but white?"
The "need" to destroy natural environment and variance is an issue for me. I've ranted about it more than once. Tried to fire the achitect of the Barbie-Castle ^^ ... seriously wished I could have skipped this quest line or replace it by another. In the end I've decides to "play it my way" and preserve bits and pieces of the original state. What I do is far from being a model for a RL Utopia - just my little playful world. After all it's just a game.

@w4m4w, thank you for your view! We have to take into consideration that this game is over a decade old and originated in Latvia, a country with an indigineous population which is "white". The lack of being able to choose skin colour when making your avatar bugs me too, same as the gendered clothing. The natives speaking broken English however only reflects the Kong community whose English is not any better (myself included). And seriously, the natives got a hold on you with all their demands! They're not dumb, they know how to make you work for them.
I like your island, it's a real nature reserve.
About the toxic and cultist fandomship, I haven't encountered it so far.

@Kitsunegao I have to disagree. A few months ago someone posted a comment saying "Colonialism: The Game" and they were absolutely correct. This game is colonialist (razing pristine indigenous environments to build junk like castles), misogynistic (why is the clothing gendered?), and racist (why can't players be anything but white? why do only the "native" (a loaded term itself) people speak in broken English, which is a racist trope?) A section of the player base is also cultish and toxic - they downvote anything said about the game that is fair but negative (this comment will be an example) instead of engaging with the arguments. As for the game itself, the mechanics are boring grinds and timers, all extrinsic motivators to get people addicted and compel them to keep coming back, which is terrible game design. There are no intrinsic motivators. (Before anyone asks, I play it because I indirectly research and study games, among other things.)

@cresswga you don't need to clear all plants/stone, but the majority. Exact amount we dont know yet. The respawns happen daily. I have 17 plants and small rocks in there and ~20 pearl chests (dont know if they count)

This game's rating of 2.7 is inexplicably and looks quite unfair. I've been playing it for 11 months now and I think there is no other game on Kong that offers us such a variety: Oceania has farming without the hassle of most farming games, zoo elements without the annoying tycoon stuff, it has riddles, nice cartoon characters and a workshop to make any stuff from food to jewellery.
There is no threat from neighbours, no fighting, in fact you need neighbours to progress easily.
And yet it puts no pressure on advancing - you can make your own little world, a vacation site, a zoo, a nature preserve, a vast plantation or farm - whatever suits you.
True enough, the coding is... sometimes kinda awkward but I've seen worse in younger games.
Give it a chance - there's a helpful community springing to your rescue in case you'd get stuck.

Can someone tell me how to get Oyster Mushrooms to grow in the cave? Do I have to clear out all of the plants and/or limestone? Thanks.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I also stopped the event, cause it´s useless. The only thing to do is feeding the red cancers with 2 energy to get 5 pincers and exchange 2 pincers against 2 energy in the cancer caves with a gain of 150%. ;-)

the unique crafting on event island are for an event that was month ago on the MAIN server only. you can ignore those.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Think I'm giving this event a pass. Per the wiki the reward is a lobster which can't be fed by friends, is 5 food, and gives salt? Not worth it.
Really feels that each event the reward is more insulting

Yall are terrible friends LOL, I had to go inactive to get my animals revived. Please help me, especially my ducks and sheep.

@SuperDos been a few days so you ,ay have worked it out already. Location: main island top right corner ancient city. After finishing ancient city and repairing walls/paths/buildings they are moveable. Looking at maps i believe you have to make you own path.

Anyone have an idea of why I have so much wheat? Not complaining, but just noticed I have like 10x more wheat than anything else, and I'm pretty sure I haven't been harvesting that much.

Guys, a little tip for beginners. *spoiler*
In the mission where you have to build a poll, don't do a clay one, because after some time there will be a mission where you'll have to build especificaly a clay one. If you want to storage clay, build one clay poll only.

in the shop under the exclusive tab there is an item called "Superstrength potion". does anyone know how many of them you can get??

I thought you had done the math wrong, but I forgot about needing to hit each tile 3x. But in addition to the 954 wood cost, energy cost is pretty high too, then. I think you'd need 212 energy (tiles + plank-making) to get this done. All this without factoring in any energy needed to cut wood in the first place ...
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
The last 2 events killed all my stockpiles. I don't have the time grow trees and gather the almost 1k wood(53tiles 18 wood each) I'd need to even consider the bamboo tiles.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Should the Bamboo road quest (the hidden quest at the end of the guide in the Wiki) appear on Kong ?
I've completed the main quests but this one hasn't appeared.

I have the same problem, I am missing two magic stones to finish the lighthouse for the jellyfish event. Is there a hidden millstone somewhere?

If the developers want a higher rating, I'd think that putting an end to the way the game cheats you out of energy almost every time you level up would be a good start. Any other free-to-play game would just add your current energy to your max, this is the only game I've played that inexplicably just gives you less. It's probably lucky to be sitting at 2.67.
