Getting multiple copies of artifacts can be frustrating. The game could be expanded by creating more weapons, or giving them modifiers like "Ninja Dagger of Speed +1". Also, it would be nice to be able to keep your non-artifacts after beating the final boss.

this is a really fun game, good job!
might i request, however, that spells like "Minor Heal" somehow benefit from having high Intelligence? maybe with a bonus to healing received, or maybe really hight Intelligence lets you regain more MP per kill so you can use healing spells a little more often?

Nicely balanced. Graphics are a perfect fit and the music is excellent. I'm having lots of fun without without getting cramps in my fingers. 5/5

Okay, my problem is that I reached level 50 something and died, and now I have to start a new game and it puts me back at level 19. Shouldn't it at least put me back at level 39? Or it would have been better if it sent me back to level 49... but level 19 is rediculous!

Really enjoyable game. Can't wait to see what you come up with next.
exdeadman- There are sound and music sliders. When you are in the game, click the menu button in the upper-left corner of the screen and the sliders will come up.

I liked the game. Perhaps another mode to play would be one where monsters are not visible until you land on their space. With this scenario, the player would have to decide how greedy they were before going for that chest or pouch of gold.

Great game, I loved it. Reminded me of Tower Of Druaga :) So for a few comments, I'd love to see this expanded on, larger dungeons maybe, possibly a multiplayer option? If this was a DS game, with multiplayer, and a few more options here and there, I'd buy it for sure! Boss was far too easy at the end though. I have to agree with a lot of comments on here, about stuff that could be added in :) Once again, great game, I had fun with it.

best flash roguelike i've played 5/5. magic isn't bad just drag the spell over the monster before attacking, then release as soon as you attack

got all the kongregate achievement yesterday, now I'm trying to get all the in-game achievement!
nice game and highly addictive. The only negative thing i could find of this game is the boss is too easy... Anyways keep up the good work 5/5

i was almost at floor 100 with weps at +120 dmg and LOADS of artifacts and items...from over 50 floors, but guess what? because the screen froze i 'somehow' attacked a unit and died -.- and i spent ages on the game...who votes on a 'confirmation' button when you're about to die/at low hp? '+' this to get the confirmation button added!

I agree with most of the comments here. This is a great first attempt. I played straight through and had a fun time doing it. But things can definitely be improved. You should really start the game with the minor healing spell, as it is you have to get really lucky to get it early. Attack spells should a) be usable with a hotkey and b) not be slower than your normal attack. Artifacts should be unique, it isn't fun getting a bunch of the same one. Challenge should scale up on later playthroughs, on my third time I went all 100 levels only casting major heal 4 times and using 0 potions.

@murf
U're only supposed to use the load quest option if you quicksave, use the new quest option and you will start again from level 99.

My first look at it, I thought it was a regular RPG. Then, I noticed there wasn't XP or Levels, just equipment and collectables. While I was disappointed for about 5 minutes, I realized the game was quite well made. Suggestion for the future: Sound and Music sliders.

THIS GAME IS AWESOME. This developer will surely become one of the best in the near future. Such a simple concept yet i played it for 3 hours without getting bored and killed the final boss. 5/5 Games like this don't come around very often.

Things I like about this game:
* Catchy
* Simple
* Fun
* Nostalgia factor very high
* easy-to-use combat system
* Treasure room every 25 levels is nice respite
* Perma-death risk is nice
Things I don't like:
* You can't raise agility high enough to get in 2 attacks per 1 enemy attack, even against the SLOWEST monster. This means that any agility over getting first strike is a waste.
* Magic casting is borked. It is not a viable playing path. I'd love to see a video of someone proving me wrong.
* The whole goal of a new game is to get "Heal", then the game switches to ez-mode
Wish List:
* Be able to convert normal items into artifacts
* Make magic casting more viable
* Make transport-to-any-level-after-beating-boss a 1-time use per beating the boss.

Just a question, Care you supposed to be allowed to get the same artefacts several times... Cos i got the steel plate legs 3 times.... xD which is a pain.

omfg the final shop had no healing potions so I burned my mana healing and the boss killed me, but I hadn't used the stupid wings in forever so I went back to floor 19 >=0!!!!

Really enjoyable. Have done 1-100 twice now. Maybe to add some replay increase the difficulty after you kill the boss and have him hold a complete set; maybe have him drop it random but not repeat drops. Balance is pretty fair, though one might not to head back to the beginning, it might be your only chance to progress in the long run.

Problem with the ninjas... YOU CAN SEE THEM LOLZ, I agree with gigiya though if you have a few health potions, you can't die. Other than that good game. 4/5

@killerclaw23: the save game is supposed to be deleted after you load it once, otherwise, nothing bad would happen if you died.

I liked this game a lot, as I love roguelikes. Varied backgrounds, enemies, and gear were excellent, music was good, and the graphics were about as complex as I'd like to see for a game like this. A few comments: Challenge - I didn't die once; only for the first 30 floors or so was it challenging to stay alive, and that was more hoping to find potions than the game being hard. I know luck is a huge aspect of roguelikes, but I think it could be improved. Magic - I didn't use a spell the entire game besides healing. There's no time to do so when I don't think a single battle lasted more than five rounds. Most were over in 3, Elemental defense - why give equipment elem. defense levels higher than 100 if they're just going to be capped? Inventory - selling things was tedious, instant selling via shift-clicking should be allowed. Another alternative would be assigning a junk category that auto-sells. Ending - boss was way too weak, and the game just hangs after killing him? Disappointing.

Ok guys, for whoever lost datas in the infamous update here is the solution for all of you :) IMPORTANT: Close all of your browsers before doing this operation. a) Locate in your computer the folder "chat.kongregate.com" (use the search function in windows) b) Browse the folder ...\chat.kongregate.com\gamez\0008\1947\live\ c) Backup the content of the folder (in case there is any problem) d) You'll see 2 folders inside: transfer the file ECSaveData.sol from ...\TheEnchantedCaveKong.swf\ to ...\TheEnchantedCave.swf\ (overwrite if needed) Please don't let this comment die

Finished it with 2 runs. You basically just need to survive levels 20-30 and from there the chests will yeild potions. Once you get minor heal, you can spam those while killing weak ennemies. Don't get chests with more than 1 ennemy guarding it, and leave the money bags alone. Try to get the Assassin's amulet or whatever it's called with 20% insta-kill, helps a lot. Spells are useless most of the time, though against golems it's still ok.
Don't waste $$ buying equipment other than weapons, as you'll probably get them in the next few floors. Stock up on potions and you'll sail through the game easily

I dont like how after you use your escape wings you only keep the artifacts only and not all the other stuff you looted D:
