Also, spending is done from the closest town you own... you can't always help where you spend from when buying something like a castle, but you can always place a footman on a territory you control from the town you want the $ to come from. This is key on a map like backstabbed, where you have 6 towns in close proximity.

Outside of the basics, one major strategic aspect of achieving the fastest time is figuring out where bandit camps will be placed and how bandit money will be distributed. Bandit camps can only go on neutral, uncolored territory. If there are no neutral territories, new bandit camps cannot form... so it may be best not to claim a spot sometimes so you can harvest the "taxes" from the bandits on the map.

Wonderful game, hoping it gets the attention it deserves. Question about the achievements: why not make 80 gold medals an impossible badge since completing 80 islands is already a hard badge? Seriously though, great game!

If you go to Conquest on the main menu and enter the name ("Hopelaw") as well as the other parameters, you get a specific map / scenario - that I liked :)

Just beat China 1937 by letting the Orange/Green fight in the West and the Red and Light Brown fight in the East. After Green (Japanese) beat Orange (Nationalists) I split Green, triggered a rebellion, and made sure never to let Green get enough for a Hero.

@EndyDune - pusz to the right relatively fast. One you connect to that forest, use one spearman to take the grey city on the left. When you do that you are safe. Utilize the forests to take towns and split territories.

@Nespi on Okinawa you'll have to split the enemy territory in such a way in which that they can't build better troops than you. For example if the northern section has less than 40 income you can hold them back with just a pikeman.

Imagine going through 30 moves, nearly capturing a castle, then boom, the enemy turns the troops to bandits, and you have to do it all again.

@Jaxrim4: As the help says in the "Rivals" section, every rival looks after their own interests first, no matter how much they like you. They play to win, they'll take revenge if you've hurt them before, and they'll team up against a dominant force (including you if you're playing on hard mode).

One thing that annoys me is that even if one of your enemies is good friends with you and has a green happy face, they will still attack you and try to take your land. Tried as an experiment to end the level with one enemy becoming an ally, with me not taking any of their territory but it didn't work. Bro smiled and showed hearts while taking my land.

The for botd focus on tons of smaller dudes and make your way towards the right side of the map. Then get a couple fighters and attack (all at once) the necromancer. You'll get it easier that way.

Holy hell. This is one of the best games on the whole site. Very simple but incredibly fun and satisfying. Excellent game.

@fretninjitsu: You don't need a villager on a gold mine if it's clear and already under your control, but just like normal land, you won't receive its income if there's a bandit on that space.

Just wanna say again how good this game is. even the added swamps is awesome, they have been thought out very well! Do I need a villager stationed at a gold mine so it makes 8 coins per round??? like does someone need to be there working? I imagine it doesnt make money by itself. Can't see any tutorial about it

you don't need a foot hold in foaccia, you need to maneuver around their defenses and cut off their land. defend your units just enough so they can't be taken or cut off, and sometimes offer an easy route to a big chunk of land that you can cut off before they start their next turn.

this is a great game but i will be honest that i have literally no clue how to even get past the tutorial. definitely don't dumb it down, it's super cool how strategic the game is, BUT maybe add some levels to help people who absolutely suck figure out good strategies? that'd probably improve player retention.
