Here's my strategy to maximize money and minimize the annoying outpost defense missions. You want a big party full of citizens and engineers, and no factory upgrades. So first, capture and expand all the shelters to increase your team size. In each new map area, first use "Clean-up" to reduce Threat to 0. Then capture the factory, outpost, and shelter. Upgrade the shelter to 2 soldiers. Buy the shelter expansion if you have the cash. Then upgrade the outpost to one gun. If you have a spare ranger, buy the "Repeller" outpost upgrade. You can now expand to the next map area, but will rarely face an outpost defense. If you do get one, ignore it and take the threat increase instead, then do a "Clean-up" on the next turn. This is more fun and gives you more money. When you've explored the whole map and are ready to 100% capture areas, go into each map area one at a time and max out the shelter, outpost, and then the factory. Once a region is 100% captured it won't go under attack.

I used all my soldiers on upgrading my first 2 outposts, and now i can't find any others. I'm pretty much stuck, since i can't build turrets and do frontier outpost missions.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
kind of bs that I spend a lot of time upgrading the factory, outpost, etc., and then there is an attack that is too hard to beat. Because I can't upgrade the outpost while under attack I have to just cede the area...what a waste.

This game literally became a chore and a horrible experience after the first three maps. The developer obviously got lazy and decided that the game should not be balanced. It's a shame. It had a lot of potential, but in the face of stun-locks, sieges you can't possibly defend against due to the fact that they randomly come as soon as you build your defensive outpost (good luck with mutants with just a minigun..........) and a whole lot of bugs this game will get ONE star. No more, no less. Awful!

This game is so broken. It is nearly impossible to build a defensive outpost late-game, because you will randomly get besieged LONG before it is powerful enough to defend it from super-mutants. Maybe balance the game before you put it up on Kongregate?

When defending the wall, going/looking away from the gate... it seems to vanish... enemies and allies seems to be able to pass trough when ever I come back. This makes defense missions impossible if you gotta shoot up your own gate to get a dog that's breaking it from the inside

I have a rewuest... first off this game is awesome... wouldn't it be cool if you could play decision online i wonder if thats possible

Please fix the black scree problem or at least tell us is if there is a way of resolving it :$ This such a good game that's being spoiled by this problem :(

economics completelly broken. Being long time of the series, I find it is the most weak link in games - while all the upgrades seem cool, they actually not needed. In this installment it became simply insane. You need 60 days to return your investment in factory! Not counting threat penalty, not counting higher threat growth. Not counting that you have to sacrifice your engineers, who bring a lot more. Simply stupid. Author should rework it. It'd be cool if at some point game became similiar to rebuild - and it would if not for utterly useless economy and upgrades. What a shame. Also no improvments from medieval. 2/5

I gave this game two stars due to all the times the screen went to black and I had to reload. When I killed the Super Mutant and it got permanently stuck at 1% health, not even letting me finish the level, it got downgraded to 1 star.

Later i hope i write muc better post but now... - why all the times black screen after EACH MISSION - frustrating!!! Game is good, fix it, please!

@nockamixon4 For the Massacre dont hire anybody and just take ur minigun and run out and kill everything in sight, particularly the smaller ones. I got it with 1:30 left so it should be pretty doable. I've got all the upgrades as well though.

It'd be nice if we had kpm for missions, not only for turret sieges.
Also, i find it nice, but silly that the hordes ignore all the "unfortified" areas, i don't know. Doesn't make too much sense, but at least i don't have to keep the mindset of "Gotta fortify this as soon as possible!" when i don't have any materials.

Tips for anyone trying to get people of all job types. I got the most each round from West Area I, averaging 6 people each round and my max was i think 10 when i was really lucky and met quite a few on the road.

So, I'm at 57%, I have every upgrade available, and I just can't get past the Massacre. Starting to get bored. Any suggestions?

@Solistus totally agree. Halfway into the game I still didnt know you do not need to send people back to the camp unless 1) ur team do not need the person 2) you want to protect the person from danger. And I realised very late that having the shelter upgrade for more people adds space in YOUR TEAM rather than what the shelter can accommodate. A lot of litttle stuff like this which are ESSENTIALS of the gameplay should have been put in the instructions or as a sidenote. I lost a lot of people at the start of the game because I didnt know how recruiting works. I didnt even know u had to go to reservation camps to recruit for building upgrades and EVERY TIME u go u spent 12 hours no matter how many u recruit.

I am so disapointed :///
Finaly a third came out and i was hoping for inprovments.
But its still just a 50% kill zombie on open map/50% defend from invasion.
You just added some new upgrades to the factorys and outpost.
Sorry but 2/5 for rushing out yet another game you basicly copy pasted the codes from

Two initial thoughts on starting the game: 1. The 'move or attack' mouse controls are a terrible idea. I kept bum rushing zombies when I wanted to shoot them. 2. I'm being asked to choose between sending a civ "to the camp" or "to the team" but haven't been told anything about what that decision means. Basic rule of game design: tell players what they need to know to make a choice rationally before prompting them to make it!
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
This is silly... even with 0% danger in a zone, they can still be attacked. This means you can't properly bait to your high-defense zones and you still spend over half your days just doing defense missions. Really, really boring.

Is anyone else getting arthritic wrists from "defend the base" missions? I wish there was a toggle fire button option, or another fire key besides left-mouse.

Those explosive fuel tanks are far too explosive. It ruins the enjoyment of the game when one of those goes off and kills you at the end of a level, just reduce the radius or the damage a little..

I'm really enjoying this game. Well done.
However, F those mines the Super Mutant Boss throws. I've had to redo the last area 4 times because I'm an idiot and keep stepping on the mines he throws after I kill him. They blend into all the carnage on the ground! ><

Despite really liking this this game I'm going to give it a 4/5 cause there were just too much minor stuffs that's really irritating about it. Things like u need to hold your mouse over someone for a few seconds to talk yet the mouse take so long to come to a halt that often you wait a few seconds and thought it would stop but it would continue moving until it miss the person and you have to move your mouse again over the person and wait the same amount of time again to talk to the person. This mouse thing applies to combat as well. Other minor stuffs as well too long to mention here.

There are some serious bugs nd balancing issues with this game. 1) Game frequently goes black and freezes when loading missions. 2) Movement glitches when too many monsters are on the screen. 3) Factories are nearly useless, providing negligible money per day 4) Finding survivors for every upgrade just feels like a time-sink
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Game was working smoothly at first, but about halfway through the game it got laggy. Makes trying to complete some of the missions downright frustrating.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
The attacks are prevented by 'completing' an area: 3 soldiers in the bunker, 3 upgrades on the outpost and 3 upgrades on the factory in the area, then clear the zombies and the area is safe against attacks. This is the only reason for you to do the factory upgrades. But the game does not deserve a better rating than 1/5 (to my opinion) because there are too many game-breaking bugs, like the professor Bear mission that does not complete.
