Didn't get my badge for the 3 million launch -- reloaded page and used a nuke -- immediately got it.
Great game, by the way.

oh god....died by ufo on 2.2 million feet(((
3 million is pretty easy if you're lucky with picking up the ammo, but i don't of course, so it's like flying for 10 min. with these damn nukes.

Interesting game, not enough skill involved, by the time you are going slow enough to steer you're probably not going to make any real extra distance etc in the mid to late game. At best you can hope for is some more ammo and a boost upwards. Nuke spamming was lame but got me the 3kk distance. Score didn't initially register, I had to replay the game a few times and use nukes before it registered my originaly 3kk distance. No idea what is with that but what ever.

Here's a guide to getting big distances in the game. Spend 5 minutes reading this, and you'll probably get the hard badge in just a few tries (if you have the tank and the golden gun):
One thing you will soon discover is that keeping going is not the big problem when you're starting to have tens of nukes stacked. You can keep going for a very long time if you really want to drag it out, and the game basically turns into a survival game. You will almost always be stopped by something that kills you, and that is the main challenge.

You might also discover that the nukes don't really give you that big a speed boost (compared to a big cannon/gun). Use nukes when you are dangerously close to coming to a halt. They're a sort of emergency kickstarter for you. Clicking nukes all the time to try to get far, will take ages, probably get you killed before you get anywhere far, and use up a lot of nukes. The main weapon for getting far is the _GOLDEN_GUN_.
Regarding staying alive, which as I said will be the main obstacle for the hard badge, PURCHASE THE CHEST BOMB. It's basically an in-game extra life, and when you're starting to make 100 000 for each shot, you can definately afford the 2000 for the chest bomb. Strap that to you before you launch, every time.

Using the gun:
One thing to realize is that real world physics, or at least the common game version of real world physics, definately don't apply here. First of all: Forces don't seem to stack very well. There seems to be a max speed, and a max height. Fireing your cannon (tank) at a 45 degree angle seems to be a good idea for reaching both max speed and max height.
Your gun is basically a set of extra cannon shots. Except that your character will BOUNCE off the gunshots, like it was a goompa or something. Again, this is not realistic, nor is it meant to be. Shooting the turtle on the way up, high in the air will not bring him much higher. Shooting him closer to the ground as he is falling will.

There are two reasons to keep your turtle high in the air:
1. It makes sure you avoid obstacles (you don't get killed).
2. Each time you hit the ground, you seem to slow down a bit. Staying high in the air while traveling fast will obviously increase the distance traveled (since you travel fast for a longer time).
As for (horisontal) speed, a shot with the golden gun will bring your turtle to top speed, REGARDLESS OF THE SPEED YOU WERE TRAVELING AT BEFORE. So don't waste your gunshots on shooting the turtle when it is already traveling very fast! It won't make that much of a difference. Again, forces don't stack very well. You reach the max speed, and then you need to just let it fly, you won't get it to go even faster.

How I got the hard badge, using only 5 nukes:
Make sure you have a chest bomb (your in-game extra life). Fire the tank at max power, 45 degree angle. Hold W and D pressed down (at the speed you're travelling, you won't be able to see killing obstacles before they hit you anyway, let alone stay clear of them. A certain amount of luck is involved).

Keep an eye on the distance traveled. As long as the tens of thousands are ticking by almost like seconds, you're travelling at close to max speed, and you're doing fine (the 3 000 000 foot distance is going to take a bit over 5 minutes to travel anyway). When you find yourself counting thousands instead of tens of thousands, waiting for the next ten thousand to tick in, shoot the turtle with your golden gun, preferably on the way down, thus bringing it to top speed again (traveling relatively slow is not only, well, slow, it is also very risky. Because you generally travel slow where the objects are, and also sweep across more area, and thus more objects, as you bounce forward at slow speed).
Continue boosting the turtle like this, until you've spent all your golden gun bullets. It should bring you to something around 2 000 000 feet.

The missile is really not that big of a deal compared to the golden gun and initial tank shot, as it won't reach top speed. I'd recommend using it as a tool to maintain your height while already travelling above the screen at top speed (thus extending the time you're travelling in a safe zone at top speed), rather than using it as a speed boost.
When your bullets are spent, and you're bouncing around among the objects, your speed will quickly deteriorate to the point where reaching very far becomes unrealistic. When this happens, your main objective should be finding a pack of bullets. A single pack of bullets is worth AT LEAST 500 000 feet. Apart from that, the main horisontal speedboosters are the chainsaw-guys on the ground, but they are risky to rely on, and they won't bring you to top speed. If you're in too much danger, or find yourself close to a halt, use a nuke to gain some speed and height. And remember that the nuke takes a few seconds to drop.

I would recommend staying relatively LOW while you're traveling at far from top speed, in the area filled with objects. You're not going to travel hundreds of thousands of feet at this speed anyway, and what you want to do is stear clear of killers, and pick up bullets. To do that, you need to stay at a pace and height where you actually have a chance of manouvering.
Hopefully you will find a pack of bullets before you get killed. If you just need a few more thousand feet to make the 3 000 000, and you're starting to really fear for your turtle's life, use a few nukes to get you that little extra distance. Again, there's no point in trying to stack the effect of them. Wait until the effect of one of them is about to wear off, before you use another one.
Good luck!
