Hey guys, thank you all for the comments, I've set up a to-do list and will upgrade the game soon!
Do not except a full rewrite from scratch, so no huge scrolling map nor multi-player this time, but many smaller fixes are planned.

It is Space-Invaderish, now that you mention it. I agree wholeheartedly that if it incorporated a larger map (with said obstacles and natural shields, harbors, etc.) truer sailing physics with variable wind speed and direction (maybe even storms), and more intricate battle tactics, this could be something I played all day long. As it is, I spent several hours on it.
But don't OVER-complicate it. I've played and yawned over too many of those kinds. Can anyone recommend something like what I've described?

It's... OK. Obviously inspired by Sid Meier's Pirates game, which is no bad thing. But the limited size of the board hurts it rather badly, as does the repetitive style of play. Create a much larger scrolling play map with obstacles (islands and reefs), and real sailing characteristics and I think you'd have a great game here. For now, 3/5.

Am I the only one who thinks this isn't a very good game? Some kind of invisible barrier prevents you from sailing the whole screen and enemy ships just sail back and forth above you, shooting occasionally. What is this, space invaders? At least space invaders wasn't so slow. 2/5

NICE Game...i came to the last lvl and the boss had 500 health left but i there was another ship that killed all my pirates^^

Seems like a remake of the ship battle part of Pirates:The legend of Black Kat - but too slow, too boring and far too easy

Interesting game. It looks like a simplified version of battle scenes in Pirates! (an old computer game which came out on C64 and other platforms of the old days). If you (gameinabottle) know what game I'm talking about, you might want to check it out for features you can add into future versions. For example, raising and lowering sails, and maybe even raiding land.

Pretty easy once you figure out how to do it, aslong as yoi go the opposite direction of the ships and fire you miss their cannons but yours all hit.

Good game, reminds me of an old pirate game that I can't put my finger on. I like the concept a lot b/c it's good old fun, not too technical or overbearing. 4/5, great job!

I wish it was possible to choose which side fired, not just up wind. If it was possible to use the entire screen for movement it would be even better.

For those of you who find this hard, purchase crew above all else and reload, then grape shot, and then moving and more cannons etc,

A bad thing is that the enemy cannot be destroyed by "friend" cannonball...that hits only me...it's not very realistic ;)
And this thing could help when game become more difficult in creating strategies...using a "close combat" ship as a shield...or something similar ;)

Some more info on your own ship would be nice. Like how many of your cannons are still in tact and not just how many are ready to fire. Something like: "50/60 ready to fire" so you have 60 cannons in tact but only 50 are ready. Knowing what all the upgrades do would be handy as well. Also, it'd be cool if you had a certain number of cannons on each side or had to fire cannons on the correct side. Just a thought.

Very good game i thought, it would be fun if you made a Realism version and historical battles. But this has got to be a 4-5 stars.

So a lot of the game design didn't really make sense until I realised that the game is actually heavily disguised Space Invaders.. Major props for getting the disguise on so thick that it took me three levels to find it!

I changed my mind, this game is good, but it would be better if it had a few changes: A storyline, Ability to past half screen, and the ability to capture ships when you engage and board them would be nice. Then you could capture the enemy flagships and use them in battle.

The game is great...but by level 8 or so the whole thing slows down immensly. Every time I or the enemy fires a volley I lose control of my ship until most of the projectiles hit or go off screen.
