Fun game in a genre I've always enjoyed. A great improvement from it's first version.
If you still plan on expanding this, my wish list, in order of ease of implementing, changing up/down cannon directions to port/starboard or left/right/up/down, changing as the ship turns, a graphic representation of current firing direction, an expanded playing field, terrain like coral reefs and shores, multiplayer (you knew it was coming :)), improved AI, and sieging ports.
In general, this is a great game, and only my unhealthy love of naval combat is causing me to dump a bunch of requests on you.

It's a fun game, but near the end of the battle you get trounced because you've lost your crew at the beginning.
Otherwise, good idea and fun game.
4/5

CodeGuy is right, the hull upgrade is bad because it makes you ship a large target, and it also makes your attacks more broad making it very hard to aim...

it's alright, elegant graphics. it's annoying that it's easy all the way until the last level, where it gives you repetitive stress injury and seems too hard. over all though, good game 5 of 5.

Idiotic game.
Max out crew, then cannons, then speed/turning.
Single out enemy ships.
Aim by firing a single shot (quickly tab space bar).
Fire all by holding down space bar when its right.
Close in, keep firing your cannons while the pirates fight. This way they sink sooner. The enemy ship wont wire back, and you get a great accuracy bonus.

it wouldn't be so bad if it was just the final boos, but instead it has to have little ships constantly appearing with it:/
kinda ruins the game for me.....

Ouch. I just figured out that upgrading ship armor is actually a *downgrade*. Your ship gets bigger, which means you're a bigger target and, even worse, your cannonballs are spread out! With no armor I was a tight little laser of death. Then I added a bunch of armor and now my cannonballs are spread out so much most of them will miss the smaller boats no matter how well I aim.

One thing that would be a big improvement: Save the graphics setting when the game is saved. I get a horrible framerate on the default settings and I have to reset them every time I play.

3/5. Could be higher if it wasn't for the last 2 levels. It starts with a breeze, untill level 10 or so, then it gets too hard really fast! I mean come on, i got the top row maxed (upgrades), lower row evenly distributed, but then you get 10 ships firing at you. Make the game more progressively harder from the beginning, or change the last few levels so it's more in parr with the rest of the game.

Navets: after level 2 it is better to shoot one cannon ball to get a 100% accuracy instead of the bonus for all ammo saved

man i already beat this along time ago...pretty good game to bad the badge and card wernt then i coulda had it all...

I liked the last level. I finished it on admiral.
Hint: max out crew first. Do not use your cannons, you get 2500 bonus cash if u don't. Do not upgrade anything else until u max ur crew. After that. Upgrade ur cannons; number, damage and reload. It only use them however, when u reach a level you can't finish only with combat with ur crew.
Also, I suggest you hold off upgrading integrity, upgrade turning and speed. Because with more hp, comes a larger ship, so you get hit more. Get turning and speed so u can dodge, MUCH more useful.
But, 5/5, fun game.

I'm very surprised to give this game 4/5. Well done. Speed up the pace and it's 5/5. good strategy and balance, good options etc.

Well I'm an idiot, I underestimated just how heavily you need to upgrade the amount of pirates on your ship. Now it's much less difficult. I was trying to be careful with boarding, the gripe I had was that I couldn't avoid it at many points and I was screwed over. But since I was doing it all wrong it's not really valid. Thanks for the tips too.

This game is ridiculous with many of its concepts. Having less pirate slows down the rate you can reload, this is fair enough. But not when your pirates attack a ship that is more than a ship's length (not width) away, with no means of stopping them. This reduces me to being unable to cause any more damage as it takes me minutes to reload a couple of cannons. Deinately needs more considertion.

way too easy on middle mode, i have been looking at the comments and i beat like level 7 or 8 without looking... i was in the top area though

This game is pretty fun. It is kinda like a watered down version of sid miers though but with a more arcade twist i guess.Crew is a little unbalanced how you can camp near the top of the screen and just buy crew upgrades. ok game 3/5

I LOVE THIS GAME! ITS THE ONLY GAME THATS 100% ORIGINAL AND I LOVE BEING ABLE TO MOVE BACKWARDS! I ALSO LOVE HOW THE LAST LEVEL SAYS 13 SHIPS BUT IT REALLY MEANS 1 EVERY SECOND!

Fun enough game. Good badges. Some performance issues though. Last boss is hard but just take your time and you can work out a pattern!

ok its a good game, definetely 4/5, but its a TOTAL ripoff of "Pirates", a 3d free roaming game. good games, but could use some originality.

Horay!!! I remember a cute little applet game in Monkey Island like this and I was waiting for the day someone would do this!

Once again, another great game ruined by just one mission...
And the most difficult part is to deal with the CPU overload that slow everything down with a P4 2,8HT at minimum detail: please, it's not Crysis nor UT3...

now that you've added the ability to fire downward, you can remove the enemy ships' ability to slide upward at will. Firing downward is pointless if the enemy is just going to slide into close combat range anyway.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
the firing direction is always whichever side of the boat is more oriented towards the top of the screen, you cant shoot downwards
