If you make another Monster's Den game, the ability to specify the punishment for a party defeat is would be rather interesting for more scoring options. I'm kinda tempted in trying an Extreme game with no punishment for party defeat, but I have no means yet, as currently, you're forced to lose items on party defeat or take a game over :P

Know what I think is broken? The Greenskin/Orcish Half-Troll's "Howl of Rage." Seems like the perfect "(insert expletive) you" for any first-level party that hasn't found any stun-resist gear yet. At least the Dwarves give you half a chance at fighting back.
Also: Control + Leftclick also sells items immediately. Yay for spiffy GUIs!

everyone who keeps clicking "return" instead of "sell item" should just try right clicking the item, that sells/buys it

This game is 100% guaranteed to destroy any productivity. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED FOOL.
5 stars, easy. Well done. Can't stop playing. I've not told co-workers about it because I want them to continue to pick up the slack for me. :D

I believe that the "mundane becomes extraordinary" turns one white item to a purple one ... Note: not gray, but a white one

lol @ jorgonQ, dwarves arent broken, they are a challenge :)
I got killed at lev 16 a few times, then i managed to tweak a few things, and i breezed past level 40.
Just try to find a combo of characters that got powers that say "last until the end of battle"
If you lucky, a superbooster will stick with you for all 40 levels :)

hey all,
first of all:
I know the mythlogical tale of the hydra heads, i just got stomped so bad & saw the total hp on the body, i still wondered (as i had 5 heads attacking me in really short time, 3-4 rounds i think)
Also, drake3, i never noticed the part of +3 to each stat automatically added with each level. So i see your point now a bit more clear :)
It explains somehwat why in the normal setup i just get an easier ride with each level i guess :)
(i use rogue ranger cleric mage btw)
ok, thanx all for the kind replies !!
and have fun in this supergame :)

Temporary becomes Permanent morphs your health/mana potions into stat-boosting potions. The health/mana potions are the "temporary" part.

Mundane Becomes Extraordinary doesn't give you a shield. It makes a random common item in your inventory a purple item instead.

@serkzerk
"A gift of Magic" gives you a power orb, and "Mundane becomes Extraordinary" gives you a shield. At least that's what I got. Not sure about the "temporary becomes permanent" one, though.

there needs to be a "are you sure you want to leave?" thing in the storr when u hit return. i was trying to press sell item and i hit return. tht was the only portal scroll i got in the first 5 floors!

Super Spelunking
Dude! You just completed the Super Spelunking achievement in Monsters' Den: Book of Dread and won the Super Spelunking badge and 30 points!
Woot! Took long enough, 2xcleric, mage and a ranger is unstoppable!!

rogues actually get more than just the 3 to all stats and the 3 assigned stats...at max skill pts they get an extra 1 dmg per stat in str/dex that stacks(talking about the poison talent thingy), but i dont think they need to be toned down however they are the best single target dmg in the game. the mage/ranger and aoe the warrior/barb can cleave/aoe(or something close to it) the only thing i think that needs to be twiked is the conjor he has 4 melee summons (2 of which are support) and 0 ranged summons and i dont see a reason to pick him up when i can pick up a ranger/mage (ranger can off heal and the mage can simply do more dmg and has cc to boot!)

This is a good game, but if you just want some badge points, it is definately NOT worth it. This takes time!
Play for the game, not for the badge.

@Kazuth How is my reasoning flawed? Excluding new weapons, all other characters earn 3 to each stat per level plus 3 that the player assigns, thus a max of 6 in their attack stat. (12 bonus damage) Rogues earn the same stat bonuses, but since they get boosted from str and dex, they get a max of 9 in their attack stats. (18 bonus damage) What you may be missing is about the "each stat" part. I'm not sure if you noticed, but every level you get 3 to each stat and that is before you put your bonus points in. Watch your stats as you go down a floor, they change without you changing them.

For Survival, Warrior+Ranger+Cleric+Summoner makes it easy.
Mass armor for warrior, power regeneration for cleric/summoner and dex for ranger. I just used all the buffs (20% damage, hp regen, +15% damage reduction, and swiftness) and kept my party healed and i never had any problems

The impossible badge for the other one was way easier.

Currently on wave 55 of survival(doing it over the course of days)
Lineup is:
War golem/warrior/war golem
conjuror/cleric/ranger
All the long term buffs are up.
It's working rather well and i expect to make it to 100+ wave.
Anyone think of anything better to use?

Made it up to wave 17 on the 1st try. Lessons learned, use regen equipment & the whole thing is one long battle, so battle-long-duration-buffs last forever. :p

Argh! I'm on level 29 and I haven't faced a single golden enemy. I know they're not exactly common, but I want to fight them!
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Kazuth, do you know nothing of mythology? When you cut off a hydras head, 2 more spawn in its place. You have to kill the body to kill the hydra. Does that help ;)
