But your playstyle, which avoid big fight, if you use 4 mage, you can change to avoid small fight, seek for boss party and kill. 55 power, but each character only need to use one time, it definitely enough.

@Entlee:I know mage will be better if there is no -tactical on. I already knew it in earlier try, check my replay on mage team a several days ago. tactical mode means no mana regain during battle at all. (0 mana regain in fight even it says +20) So mage is so powerful but they consume too much mana. Electrical Storm costs 55 mana. Also you can't do anything to count on power siphon. There is no meat shield to sustain defense for wasting turns to drain mana. No mana for mage in this mode. Mage team work at all. (but 4 warrior team may work if they survived to high level. leadership casts 0 mana. :P

my uber ownage team consists of a barbarian warrior rouge and a cleric. and when fighting a legendary (if you have a rouge) then spam poisen on it until it has 1000+ damage from posien a turn

Lose to human again... 3 protecter behind kill my ranger, that boss void connon 1 hit kill 2, left my cleric... This is exactly the same how i lose with my rogue+cleric+mage+ranger. My rogue back then has that damn boss accuracy reduce to about 30%, maybe that skill is never miss...

Kiraice, any other party can go on like rogue, like 4 mage(even better than rogue i think), just avoid gorgan at early lvl and they can clear all other lvl, even in extreme mode, 4 electrical storm can kill whole party. But the armor issue... But combine with blind, it can be great...but still too fragile...(i hate minotaur)

and wat i do is did the item that lets you go to shop every level and never discard any equiment (execpt for whites & greys) and then sell all and buy legendary lure and any other useful equipment.but the emporium badge is only available(I think) at a high lvl(i think past 25)

adrenaline's buff damage and inspire cancels each other. the only effect that remains is 100% stun resistance. You can have only 1 buff damage from them per characters. And you know, warrior have only 2 position can do that 3 targets cleaver (other places are just 2 in max). One is in the center of front line. this place you can use any kind of weapons (Very good). But in the second row there is limited to use spear only. Spear is usually a bad choice of weapons I think. Also compare to those attack all skills like electrical storm, actually it is not that worthy to have a buff and waste 1 turn. Well, only if you are trying to 1 turn kills everything then you'll have such conception to not use any buff.

In this hardest setting, "retreat instantly" is a must. Sometimes you won't find anyway to go down and either any small group of mobs you can fight. What if you lack HP/mana without heal shrine in the same time? Remember your potions or scrolls are limited. so the best way is go into the fight and retreat (with "retreat instantly" item). Then you'll see the area behind that group. This gives me general ideas that do I have to fight those mobs. Also it gives rates for discovering the area. In this mode isn't really hard if anyone tries this rigged 4 rogue team. But it is worthy to try this mode because I feel this game has more challenges now.

@Entee: Really? I don't think so. In this mode you don't have any way to get necessary items without fight. And Only rogue can make you have least enough trophies to keep party moving on next level. Other classes seem too hard to achieve this goal. BTW, Now I can even kill boss group if my Hp/mana is full.

This game is not hard at all if you avoid big fight, what make you think it is hard anyway with your playstyle? Kiraice, you can just start with 1 character... Go for the extreme with all score modifier on, i know you can do it.

Simple answer again: 4 rogue. I am in the mode of IMPOSSIBLE(really?) with every checks on, hardcore mode. Now I am in the den of the terror level 4. I didn't know it is not hard. Just give up your perfect style and avoid any big fight. I didn't see any difficulties so far. Maybe den of corruption will be harder I think. :P

I went back to re-play the game Monsters' Den: Book of Dread. I had originally played to 101st level - with out finding an end. On this second try I did in fact find the conclusion window after facing the prime adversary by teleport. From the very start I realized that the author had infact uploaded still another version of this game (the teleport puzzle). So what I must of experienced was playing the game on its first version and the upload for update occurring after I passed 10 level point and there by never experiencing it the first time. That is the only conclusion I can get from this.

I enjoy this game -- but for some reason, my saved games have disappeared. Should be a way to save them to the computer so they don't disappear.

if you ever have trouble with a boss or legendary then simply use poisen the entire time until they take more than 1k damage per turn by posien alone. very helpful for the guys that stun. o and is the whole thing at the shop where you can get orange items new or do you have to be at a certain lvl??

I only feel one thing need to improve in survive mode. There is always same BGM in this mode. Why don't we have different BGM in every wave? Finally I turn off the music and play my MP3.

If you are wanting to EXTREMLY lower your enemys health get two rangers that know Hail of arows and one mage that knows Electrical storm and that nearly always puts your enemys with little or no health. Get one ranger that has a venoumous weapon. Also don't forget a cleric to heal your warriors.

MstrPBK, it does has an ending... the lvl 9 is the ending, 1st quest is the corruptor, 2nd quest is dreadfather. The lvl after is infinite mode, is a bonus.

I have played this through 101st level. As far I can tell ... Monsters' Den: Book of Dread ought to be retitled: Monsters' Den: Characters of Dread because the characters go in (from a village) and they Dread if their abuse is never-ending. Even the secondary characters they meet and who join the group for 1 to 10 rounds of battle - die. YOU would think that Alters of Healing would heal these secondary characters permanently - but NO ... they die even after being taken (inferred) to one of these alters. Even the player this is beginning to feel abused.
The author Garin did an excellent up date from Monsters' Den to Monsters' Den: Book of Dread. I must give them (him?) credit for that. But I sit here this evening (7/31/09) to suggest that they need one final revision to let these characters have an end to their quest and or adventure.
