3) Be very clear about the abilities you want your party members to eventually score. Try to choose them based upon the types of creatures you're facing in a new level. For example, you might choose Hunter's Prowess in a deep creature level instead of Focus. You might decide you need Swiftness on a level with the Orcs, etc. etc. Of course, don't choose a skill just because of the monster types on a level - make sure it also fits in with your overall plan. I tend to like Holy Light, Fervor, and Purify on my Cleric, though Shield of Faith has some merit since you don't recover power anyway - especially if your Cleric is your tank (too bad you only ever have enough power for one use in a battle). I tend to like Hail of Arrows, Hunter's Prowess, and Pin to go with a Ranger's Nature's Balm, but a Ranger with a spear might go Prowess, Force of Nature, and Focus instead.

2) Consider very carefully the special abilities each piece of gear you're using gives your characters - sometimes, you may get stuck with some equipment for a long time. It also pays to keep things like stun and poison resistant armors around, even if their armor rating is lower - on those levels with deep creatures or undead, for example, you're going to want poison resistant items. Blinding, stunning, lethality, and health regen are all useful as well - sometimes the raw power of an item isn't as important as the extras it gives you. Also, objects with a white border around them could be transformed if you find a certain temple - it pays to keep a few of these items around for that eventuality (assuming you survive that long, of course).

Some tips if you want to play the toughest level, 338% which is Extreme monsters, Hardcore, Tactical (no power regen in combat), and Attrition (no item buying/selling EVER). Bamaley covered some of this already, but I'll do it again for posterity. 1) Power is hard to come by! You best regenerate it by walking around the dungeon, since you can't buy potions and need to conserve. Therefore, it really does pay to engage each set of monster encounters as you reach them - you need the gear, and the unexplored dungeon segments to help you regenerate. Engage the monsters because you need the gear options. Pull out the stops to win, even if you burn up your power - if you lose, the game's completely over, at least if you win you can recover.

Perfect setup, made it to Level 81 in campaign, still goin'!!
Ranger: Back Middle, level up two dex, 1 endurance each level... Rouge: Top left, 2 str 1 end each level... Cleric: Top right, 1-2 Endurance, 1-2 Intel each level Warrior: top middle, 1 End, 2 Str each level. Works very well. Get the warrior Cleave and the party damage buff, then go pure leadership. The Cleric, party heal and revive, and holy light, then whatever buffs Smite. Rouge is Sneak and Hide (for a combo), then maybe the party buff, and then all poisin passive buff. Ranger/Archer is the Hail of Arrows, party speed buff, and Venomed arrow. Then Health Regen passive. Get the Ranger and Rouge POISON dealing weapons. Ranger ONLY a bow, and Rouge ONLY a special dagger. Cleric is your tank, mostly heavy armor and power regen/damage reflect. Warrior is your heavy hitter/tank mix. Medium speed, and a 2 handed axe for the biggest damage. Have fun!!

quick tip if you have these people in a party: warrior, ranger, mage, cleric. PLace the warior in the middle first row then put the cleric on the side with the most monsters and mage on the other. Then the ranger at the back

Just for reference to those who have been playing for a while.. My farthest party is on floor 21 of the second campaign, and I've fought 3 legendary monsters; Minotaur, and the Hydra twice. I got the Minotaurs axe (2H melee weapon; Ranger, Warrior, Barbarian), Hydra Spike (1H melee weapon; warrior, rogue, mage, ranger, barbarian, conjuror), and the Ring of Boundless energy which restores 100% HP and Power at the end of every battle, along with 4 power regen and 15 quickness (probably changes with level).

The original Den "ends" at 10, the second one "ends" when you get 10 fragments from Fearsowers. 5/5 from me.. a great way to pass the time when I'm listening to music or something like that. I keep trying new party-type strategies so it's gonna be a long while till I get the 50k badge. I got up to wave 16 on Survival first try and haven't tried since then...
A tip for survival: For equipment on your healer, get lots of power regen. I used a warrior tank that has over 280% damage reflection buffed, which doesn't really help because nothing does much damage to him. Stay away from damage reflection equipment and go for endurance and armor. I used a mage and conjuror for damage and buffing.

It's a pretty good game once you get used to it but it's very addictive so dont spend all your time on this because it alows you to save your game and this is a 4/5 game.

Gift of Magic has VARIOUS effects. It gives you an enchanting orb, and it has many effects, such as regeneration or replenishment

The temporay becomes permanant alter gives you one or more potions that have a permant +5 to strenth and endurance. .. Tictamint, unless you are playing the Hardcore option, your party is alwasy revived when defeated.

Temporary becomes permanent, is (for what i think) a revival spell.
If your entire party dies, you get a message with something like: ''As if it were magic, you were revived'' Just before that, i got the altar.

as long as u have a plain/old item at the bottom of ur list, it will become purple when u use the ordinary/extraordinary altar, if u try it with a blue/green item its just a waste

This is a great game... I've spent many many hours trying to beat all 4 challenges... By the way could anyone tell me what is that weird MYSTERIOUS altars for? One of them says temporary become permanent, another one says "a gift of magic". Any ideas??

The first levels can be hard depending on your luck, but the higher you get the more ridiculously good your rogues becomes overpowered, especially since a lot of legendary equipment adds both strengh and dexterity.
It takes a good bit of strategy though
