Under rating threshold (show) warrior,cleric,ranger,conjuror....d best 4 survival. Also there is no certain lvl at which you can go to the shop. Its only the scroll. However you might hardly want to go... as often as initially, after about 30 lvls or so.

Under rating threshold (show) I use cleric as tank with a crap load of damage reflect ~250% and one ranger in front too with a ton of regen. then a ranger with high poison ~ 200 and a conjuror. level 15 right now and breezing through.

Under rating threshold (show) also, those two items i mentioned do their thing at the end ov every battle. have the two rangers with those equiped in front so they get attacked. use them for high-mana use attacks like hail unless theres a 5+ enemies and pierce if two enemies are lined up.

Under rating threshold (show) the fastes combo ive used is 4 rangers, especially when you have the ring of boundless energy (restore 100% mana and health) and the hydraskin cloak (restore 50% health and mana). yeah, i've had to use a couple res. potions but not that many, and battles are lightning fast. pin, pierce, and hail of arrows are all i ever use. also, stockpile major health and mana potions just in case. not saying its the best, but it is pretty darn fast.

Under rating threshold (show) I find a warrior, cleric.ranger and conjuror to be an unbeatable combo. Definitely the best for survival and one of the best for dungeon roaming (you cant die but you'll kill a bit slowly then some other combos) . Just put the warrior to tank and use the conjurer to create the golem and to juggle mana / health sprite. Have the cleric use holy light and let the ranger do what he does best. The advante of this combo is that it's almost impossible to wipe. You have 2 AOE heals per round, a golem to soak damage, ranger can apply the health regen buff and 2 party members are caapble of ressurecting.

Under rating threshold (show) 130% blind = 22% max for a 6 man group and with aoe effects your hardly going to bring them down to 10% unless you want to waste 6 turns hitting each one separately for no reason. I also just made a lvl 10 mage in survival. full int 196 dmg for storm. Random blue bow with full dex ranger 247 dmg hardly more dmg and I bet it'll just widen even more as you lvl. Just slap on a bit a of accuracy gear and you basically get 85% hit rate easily. Also what about pin? way better then cosmic prison, evenom trumps incinerate or freeze,

Under rating threshold (show) 3 mages pwn with a tank in front. Warrior is good I use a barb. Mages are superior to rangers I explain why in a previous post maybe on my sluggernaut account. If ranger doesn't have mk bolt thrower hail of arrows sucks compared to storm. Those missed shots add up, storm hits 95% and isn't dependant on finding one particular item to make it good. You can get 130% blind with a mage using Enlightning hood/Luminescent staff of the enlightened magus/Thieves gloves/Robe of affliction/Shroud of darkness. Slap this stuff on your mage before a legendary and reduce them to 10% accuracy.

Under rating threshold (show) @tez yes for dmg reflect, ive had 300%+ before. for the others, i havent stacked that much...have about 45 lethality on all party members, but each higher level version of some orange items can have higher %s so probably at levels of 750+ you can get single items with 20% of any of those.

Under rating threshold (show) @bubba: Stfu and learn to use the internet. Of course it loads, you're probably just missing Flash or have blocked it using a Firefox addon. // @chewy: Well, the first few levels were painful (Extreme + Attrition). I had to skip a couple of bosses, and even then I don't think I would have managed all the Fearsowers if I hadn't stumbled across a Shrine that boosts your Strength + Endurance for my Warrior. I put some Light gear on my Cleric and it seems to be working smoothly enough, but I always keep a set of Heavy gear for the Orcs and Cultists, who can dish out massive damage to the back row. Past level 5, it seems to be going better. Still, the perfect damage control the Mage has in the early levels with cheap mana usage and powerful offensive moves is very valuable in Extreme, even if it is outweighed later. // @Irbis: It's not our fault that your brain can't comprehend a simple notion.

Under rating threshold (show) I'm playing extreme hardcore i probably should throw in attrition on my next playthrough, but generally i didn't find too much gear problems. I got a bit lucky in killing a minotaur early on and got a foe piercer and a huntsman from a boss, but in general i found plenty of runed gear for my rangers.

Under rating threshold (show) I run light armor cleric in back row behind the warrior. You get usage from the light armor and the speed bonus helps greatly. I'm using the savant set with +45 power on the cleric and its dam useful. I can heal smite, litany of pain or use basically any skills w/o stopping. A light armor full int cleric can take on And also you can get 2 hail arrows in one go you just need some serious power stackage. My archers are running +20 minimum and generally +25. Even my warrior goes up to +20 for shield wall and defiance in a pinch. Stupid 1000 character limit..

Under rating threshold (show) On a related note, I'm trying right now your team (Warrior / Cleric / Ranger / Ranger) on Extreme + Attrition. My plan is to tank with the warrior up front (buffed up by a Ranger's healing-over-time and kept alive by the Cleric) with the plate-wearing Cleric right behind to keep piercing damage from Orcs in check and the two Rangers on either side of the back row, dealing the heavy damage. I'll see how it goes.

Feb. 07, 2009

Under rating threshold (show) Chewy, I don't know about others, but I prefer running a Mage + Ranger over 2 Rangers for two reasons: First, a Mage can pump out 2 Electric Storms in his 2 first turns with his Power regen, while a Ranger would have to wait at least one more turn before using Hail of Arrows one more time, which is crucial in boss fights. And second, all this Light armor, staves and that stuff that goes to waste otherwise can serve to buff up my Mage without compromising my Ranger's gear, whereas with two Rangers there'd be competition for the best Medium armor and bows.

Under rating threshold (show) Er i meant Hunters Prowess for my last comment. No idea how i got that jumble of letters..anyways I'm running Endurance Warrior and backrow full int cleric with two rangers. Working very well. At the start just use defiance to tank everything. As long as you stack some power gear on the warrior he'll have enough for a good 6 turns. The rangers pin and solo all ranged units then work on the melee frontlines. After you get some gear just shieldwall it up and hail arrow everything to death with anoint inspire and w/e you want to throw into the battle.

Under rating threshold (show) I'm not sure why everyone likes mage over a 2nd ranger. I don't see what a mage can do that a ranger can't. Hail Arrows = more dmg you might miss a bit but overall dmg is higher then mage aoes. Stun does way more dmg and has no side effect. Evenom arrow is an EXCELLENT single target skill while huntree prower is very good agianst Deep monsters. Mages have low life low armor and their skills have no racial specialties not to mention creature lore is significantly better then not using up a bit of power. I just can't see any benefits to a mage when ranger trumps it completely.

Under rating threshold (show) Apparently, the legendary monsters are every 15-20 levels or so? And my way of not overcrowding my inv is to always keep a stash of 2-3 Shop Scrolls handy in case the 'ole inventory fills up.

Feb. 06, 2009

Under rating threshold (show) Oh, and just tossing this out here for the - as of yet - beginners, since I saw it mentioned before. When using multi-target attacks (such as Fireball, Lightning Storm, Hail of Arrows etc), Poison, Blind, Stun and Instant Kill effects DO NOT apply to all targets - instead, they are divided amongst the number of targets (even those on whom the attack misses). So, while it may seem a great idea to equip your Mage or Ranger with a powerful Venomous weapon to poison everything with an AoE strike, it really isn't that great (for that purpose). On the other hand, life drain DOES stack, so especially on the fragile mages, lots of lifesteal can be a lifesaver in tough situations.

Feb. 06, 2009

Under rating threshold (show) I totally agree - in the beginning, it's pretty hard to manage your inventory when you got tons of items coming and so few scrolls. After level 10 it seems to become less of a problem, mostly because you can feel free to rid yourself of any gear lower than green and any potions (which you should keep, at least at first, if you're playing on standard and above), except that one white you may keep around in hopes of meeting a shrine. Oh, and to toss it out there, in case you meet the potion shrine, the potion is added to your inventory, not changed from one of your existing potions, so you don't need those around if you don't want them.

Under rating threshold (show) Yeah, except the total poison/stun/lethality/blind count is divided by the number of targets you hit, thereby greatly lessening the effect. But the healing thing works in reverse - 6 potential targets funnelling all that vamipiric % into 1 mage...instant healing in many cases.

Under rating threshold (show) You know, the Mage's Lightning attack is awesome when said Mage has a vampiric something equipped...even at 5%. Not only do you do damage, but for every monster you hit, you heal 5%...times the # of monsters on the field. Of course, you also have to be careful about using Lightning when an Orc Shaman drops a curse on the Mage, too...
