Good game. I think it's great that you can keep going for, like, ever. It's annoying that you can only have 4 people and can't buy any more.

@kanescool: the dungeon is infinitely deep. The story "boss" (the Corruptor) is on floor 9 though. The difference between difficulties is only in monster hp/dmg, loot, and dying (it's mentioned on the choose-difficulty screen right after you create your party).

I like to use rogue and cleric in front, and ranger and mage behind. I just got a purple axe, and only my ranger is able to use it, so I moved it up temporarily.

@Thrawns: uh, it's called "hardcore" for a reason. Most online action RPGs in this vein (e.g. Diablo2) are like this, dying is permanent in hardcore. If you can't handle it then don't play hardcore. || @FaustLombard: Agreed, it's easy to level simply by just running down to the next floor as soon as you find it. || @rrradio: Interesting strategy for hardcore, but doesn't that use up a lot of power? Mine's the opposite, I left out magic, now on a cleric / warrior / rogue front and ranger behind, loaded up on health and power regen.

This is a truly good roguelike, especially for a web-based. It gets a rare 5 from me.
The strategy I'm using through Hardcore seems to be working well: 2 Clerics in front (all points into END), 2 Mages in back (all into INT). Just make sure the Clerics are faster than the Mages and Anoint+Electrical Storm, Anoint+Electrical Storm. I just beat the Corruptor and I have yet to let a character die.

Awesome game. Actually my favorite one here. I think that heroes should level by beating monsters, not stages. Also the equip items should be rarer to find. I find myself in confusion sometimes wondering what to wear.
But all that aside its still the best rpg I played in a while. Good job

Pretty good, Except for the deleting of the saved game when the party dies... Way to harsh of a penalty, especially when the random number generator decides to mess you over and wipe your party out on Hardcore. Randomness + harsh penalty = Bad replay value.

Oh holy crap, that's it! I am not playing this game anymore. I died at lvl 48!! There goes my Hardest of Core Badge. Is complacency a sin?
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Strangely addicting, like all good RPGs, my nly real complaint's about the badges, I don't care if they don't do anything, I hate having to play on an easier difficulty.

Fun and interesting dungeon hack. The only complaint is too much loot. I spent more time trying to figure out what to put where constantly, than playing. Also, there needs to be some incentive to killing the monsters rather than loot, as so much is found everywhere.

Suggestions:
1. Please include the exit (and entrance in different color) when we press the map hint.
2. Please show the hp and mp regeneration values at the battle screen as well.
3. If no item is chosen when pressing the discard button, please let it double up as the return button.
4. More character faces to choose from will be nice.
PS.: Congrats on such a well-done game. You are awesome. =)

I did something I thought was impossible on the level I just cleared: I increased the quickness of my rogue to 105! (I thought 100 was the max because the description of cripple says it reduces the target's quickness to zero, while the status of a crippled enemy says it's been slowed by 100.)
On the other hand, I also accumulated another three deaths -- two mage (the same one) and one rogue.

I also got wiped out fighting a boss because I wanted to clear every floor, but on level 21 (and probably also because I was trying to cram as many purple items as possible onto my party, and took away my warrior's shield). I'm trying again now, with a more reasonable strategy towards purple items, and a rogue and mage replacing the warrior and ranger. So far, I've cleared 13 floors, used 4 shrines -- and racked up 30 character deaths! It seems at least half of those were the rogue.

Yes, the vast majority of Flash games save their data in the browser cache. It's not a bug, it's just The Way Things Work.

do not quit during battle it revives all of their guys and leaves yours dead/injured found that out the hard way... terrible bug since im on extreme diff

lvl 30/50 now. might have been easier with a buncha rangers and instant kill arrow shower. or rogues with opening freaky creep hp - around 2k apiece. but the weapon damages rock too axe n spears go up to 700

Lacks the content of real roguelikes like Crawl or ToME: no item identification, no side dungeons, no gods, limited magic, no keyboard movement (of course the maps would have to be changed for hjkl to work here), annoyingly no inventory management. Still, this is one of the best in flash, just too slow. 4/5

Real useful comment vincent... not. || Doing the Hardcore challenge, got wiped out on the 2nd floor, heh. I suppose I could leave boss fights for later, but I really prefer clearing floors before moving on.

Great game, but after level 20 or so it becomes boring. Maybe adding a little more variety would make it better. Even so, this is one of my favorite flash games ever.

Great game. Easily playable for days if you're in the mood. As of my writing this, it's about 6am because I accidentally pulled an all-nighter on this thing haha

A nice long game to play when you're in the mood. Reminds me of Neverwinter Nights and other D&D games like that. Very nice.

@ufoman20: roguelikes have randomly generated maps, what use is a walkthrough?! Apparently the 'Corruptor' boss is on floor 10 (for Beginner at least, I was doing the badge), after that it just seems pointless grinding. Given how power never budges from 100, I think I just might grind for the sake of collecting higher +power recovery till I come to the point where I can just spam the skills each turn. Good game, but suffers the same pointlessness as most roguelikes.
