@Tathar: (My guess) I think this is to prevent people from "cheating" - like if they know they can't win and are going to lose (particularly for hardcore/Extreme mode), they can just reload the game and have a second attempt. Well, rogue games unfortunately have no second attempts. :P (Or it could genuinely be a bug - I don't know.)

this is a really good game.. tho i did not gett the curruptor badge.. :S but i'll do it again..
Warrior rogue celtic.. and ranger in back..
worked for me..

There's a bug where if you're in a battle and leave the game, the enemy is restored to full health. I've lost my hardcore game save to this.

I use 1 ranger, 1 warrior, 1 mage, 1 cleric.
give ranger a bow that does poison damage and have its quickness up, so it always hits first and then barrage them.
Give warrior endurance and drain items and use cleave power to eliminate guys in front. For the mage I up its endurance and intellect this was its harder to kill and dishes out massive area damage. For the cleric i give the same attributes so that its smite is very powerful and it can heal really well

ok i just finished level 50 hardcore.
2 rangers, 1 mage and 1 cleric.
2 rangers and the cleric up front and the mage at the back.
pump the first ranger with DEX only and give dex/lethality/mpregen items and give him a bow (preferably a bow, not a crossbow).
Second ranger, pump with STR and give him lethality/str/speed items and give a sword with an offhand dagger.
Mage give mage items mostly. of course give INT. then don't forget speed as well.
Cleric, pump END and give mp regen items.
bottom line, keep your team's speed over 75, have them all have lethality items (yes, hail of arrows CAN have 1-hit-ko's)
don't be put off by the start. It's really often the hardest part to clear because of the lack of good items (especially speed) to clear the mobs quick. but by the 10th to 15th round, you should have no difficulty at all. It practically becomes a milk run to the finish.
I completed the 50 levels clearing all mobs and exploring all grounds, so it is possible with this build!
cheers (:

If anyone's looking for a decent party build, I was pretty much invoncible as of lvl 8 (hardcore) and am just breezing through the rest of the 50: 2 rogues and a cleric at the front and a ranger in back. Focus on vampire/lethal, dmg reflect, regen and whichever stat boosts your damage. In a given boss battle I can tear off three baddies before they get a shot in. (one rogue has 250% damage reflect, 60 regen and 15% lethality and I'm only on lvl 22)

strategy i've been using: warrior (focus on armor and endurance, try pumping health regen), thief (focus on damage, regen and drain), cleric (focus on intelligence, mana regen and at the beginning endurance), and a mage (focus on intelligence and quickness)
thief and warrior up front, warrior in the middle, cleric lower right, mage lower left.

when on corrupter in beginner for badge he has 50 speed... so my strat is use rouge to kill his speed then the warrior to use overwhelm and do 700+ damage... just a hint

Oh! I just thought of something! Just because you find an item on level 8, for instance, that doesn't mean it's a level 8 item. That's something (probably very time consuming) that might help a bit in the loot giving process.

Hats off to this one, Garin. Congrats on a great game. Well thought out, well executed. It's sequel time. Definitely. The only thing I can think of to improve is story -line... I don't know how, so sorry about that. Maybe side-quests? Side dungeons?

Btw anyone know more about dagger? It gains bonus from both dex and str... take an example: 100 points into dex OR str vs 50 points in dex and 50 points in str. Which version gives higher damage? Or are both the same?

@BillMeltsner: Thanks for clarifying. I thought otherwise because it said "melee attack" in the description and not ranged attack. From my experience with other characters and skills, melee attacks will only be performed on the first line of enemies and when you are on the front row. For instance, try equipping a mage with a melee sword, put him in the back row then use the first no-cost "magic attack" to try hit a mob. You can't. :P

This game is awesome!!! i love how you can chose characters, and name them WHAT EVER you wan2 name them. :) make more garin!!!!

@Storageheater: Yea, I saw the all time HST after posting my comment... I concur. I too think they hacked - that's plain pathetic. I got all the badges myself right and proper (not to mention I can't hack for hazelnut sake anyway lol :P). And yea, when I finally get that hardest of core badge, I killed every single group of mobs from lvl 1 to 49.

Oh... I assume you are using a ranged weapon for the rogue at the back to perform sneak attack? So the description changes like if you equip mages with melee or ranged weapon? I need to try this out then, thanks. (Then again I have completed the game so... )

A great game all around. Plenty of depth and interchangeable playing strategies. 5/5
I think it would be interesting if equipping a single person entirely with purple items incurred a bonus. Fun thought.

Jim618, the saved files are stored in your browser's cache, so if you somehow transferred them to your other computer it could work. Probably not worth the effort of doing though.

I just died at level 15 on Extreme. I used psychosix's strategy. I tried many different strategies but psychosix's strategy of using a warrior with shield wall was the only that worked (see his comment on Feb. 26). I made a slight adjustment. Instead of a mage and a ranger, I used two rangers (I think rangers are better). Here are some tips: avoid boss battles until you have an item that lets you retreat instantly. This will save your neck. Clear the rest of the levels. Don't chose equipment only based only on armor rating. The equipment's other stats are more important especially power regeneration. Also, the tip of using hail of arrows combined with a high lethality has been mentioned on the comments. This doesn't work. The developer probably realised it was too powerful and removed it. Good luck!

Actually, I lied. It's hardly worth it at all once you're doing enough damage to wipe out the bosses in one round. But it's handy before you can do that.

Wizzy, you should see the 'all time highest level' score table. I'm guessing the ones who made it past level 5,000,000 hacked it...
Someone commented that they couldn't get their damage resist over 50% - well, I've managed to get one cleric up to 57% by around level 20, but high-ish levels of damage resist drop by at least 1% for each level you go into the dungeon. So, to keep it up, you *have* to scavenge for every item and load up the rarest and toughest stuff just onto one person. It's definitely worth it though, they're unstoppable.

Geez, I managed to descend to lvl 51 and I found the exit to lvl 52 - doesn't this game END? I have sort of "completed" the game and I finally can wipe the flash cache (and thus delete this game). But this game doesn't end! You know how uncomfortable the player feels? Pls pls pls make the game end, thanks.

OMG OMG OMG, I finally got the hardest of core badge! =)) It was with the 3 rogues + 1 cleric combo. Load up cleric with mp regen. Spam create opening. Keep quickness high for everyone. Dance. ^^

This game is good but the inventory system stinks as there are simply too many tiny upgrades. I spend more time playing "Inventory" game than the actual game.

Just discovered how fun it can be when you have a lethality-build rouge. Demonhide cloak (5%), assassin's hood and gloves (10% and 8%), and Death's Edge (20%). At 43% lethality I'm getting insta-kills almost half the time! Should put them on my warrior and hope cleave wipes everyone out at once. :D
