Fun game, no doubt about that. Challenging but doable. Only frustrating part is trying to get a Brilliant rating on every level. Level 14 in particular, the ninja champions can't be defeated before reaching your gems except by a stroke of luck. No tower is powerful enough to damage them enough to allow maxed meteor strikes to outright kill them. By the time their invisibility wears off they're on your gems. Receiving high ranks shouldn't be determinate on how lucky you are in freezing them on the first hit in hopes of defeating them.

wow..highest rated game? no way LOL. probably just after great game 1/5 came out now people are being a little kinder haha. but actually sweet TD i like the twist, and great gfx and stuff. 5/5

Love the game but agree that it needs (at the VERY least) spell commands.... having to click every single time is a huge pain.
That said, this is by far one of the most interesting TD's I've ever played..... most of the time I get bored of TD's after level one and I find myself 1 level from the final badge here!

Ok. I see that there are a lot of requests for improvements. I can see that there are a few things that might need tweaking, but come 'on guys. I have not found a more enjoyable game on Kongregate to date. Give the developer a break with the whining and say "Thank you" for making such an awesome game. In fact, I find this game better than many games I have purchased over the past five years (Yes, I am looking at you Dawn of War II and Quake IV and Enemy Territories and Sins of a Solar Empire.) Again. Thank you for making such a great game and the only request is, "Can I have some more?"

After every 5 levels there should be something interesting that happens that is a change of pace from the normal wave after wave game play. I know that is the nature of tower defense games, but at the same time, I feel like there could be bonus rounds or boss fights somehow to break up the monotony.

The ninjas are fine -- the game would be too easy without them. That said, the ninja champions are just straight up bull.

Oh, and multiple crypt shots at a single ninja should all hit if there's no other targets, not just disappear, wasting the spike potential.

Really well done! I was blown away (and I've played a lot of TD games) Laughed at myself cause I couldn't get brilliant on level 5 then got it on level 8. XD

Why can assassins dodge meteors and temple attacks? Especially temples. The fact that you put "dodge missiles" in there makes it sound like temples should be good against them, but they're just as bad as the other 2, if less inconsistent.

When frost towers upgrade, they lose all their "charged" ammo. I hate that.
And I also think that a "reset" skills button would be very helpful.
Music reminds me of age of empires II a lot :]

This game is actually above avg for a tower game. It does have its flaws such as ninjas being able to waltz in at warp speed unless you have your towers perfectly set up and dont get me started on dodgers. However the skill tree provides just enough of a strat at the start to make you think a bit and the ranking system for once makes perfect sense. My biggest problem is something that has nothing to do with the game. My problem is like 90% of other people im here for the card. This turns the game from an enjoyable time waster like a game should be into a grindfest since unless you're a high level no matter what strat you use even at the low stages unless you are a high level one is bound to get through....

5/5 very nice game. My only complaints are that the 5 sec invis. on the ninja can be way too long for a defence game and the 50% avoid power seems to activate more than 50% of the time

Too easy. Got it at lvl 28. Way to win. Pray for luck and spam fireballs at the champion bosses. 5*400 damage = 2000. only 500 damage left for your tower to do. Upgrade the right way and it should be no problem =)
all the other garbage you can get. Freeze is kinda nice aswell. But 25% is kinda low luck to win with

Just commenting to add my voice to the call for hotkeys. For spells above all - when the only way to kill a Fast ninja boss before he gets to your gems is casting 4 fireballs in a row, the drag back and forth is... well... a drag. Hotkeys in general are key to any game like this with a timed aspect to the strategy.

man that hard badge was satisfying.
ormanius: i froze ninjas all the time. however, ninjas were not a problem on any map for me -- a proper defense setup and they shouldn't be for you, either. the ninja boss, yes, but the REAL problem for the hard badge is those #(%*#%@ing 50% dodge pirate mobs. i can't tell you how many times a pirate has waltzed through a dozen crypts and five meteor storms and just danced in my gem stash. 50% is too high to be affected by spells!

I hate hate HATE the Wave 50 Ninja boss on Map 14 (Secret Passage). Even if the hit that sets off his smoke bomb is a fear-inducing crypt attack, the path from either entrance is short enough that he can easily reach your gems before his stealth wears off (with a full second of stealth left!). And even with max-skill mana reserves and meteor (100 mana/400 damage), he can't be killed by a full set of 5 meteors. LAME. SAUCE.

i like this td game lol easily 5 star, however >.> 50% dodge rate = 90% with my bad luck xD i missed with meteor 3 times in a row and it wasnt even a boss

Well for a tower defense game the idea is A+, +1, graphics and music are also great. There are new ideas in this game I would like to see in other tower defense games +1. As this game over all I give it a 3/5 stars. I understand you want people to keep playing the game but making me level up to get receive Brilliant is a bummer. I won the level, I don't want to play it again -1, especially now that it's beyond easy. My second -1 would be the fact I have to finish my current wave before I can start the next wave. I guess to think I can't start at once because I could spam waves & spam Meteor making it very easy, simple idea would solve this problem. I will finish with a +1, using mana is very creative so are the special abilities. I do not like that fact you MUST use them or lose them. As there is not a spend mana to increase mana option, in game, it's kinda restarted imo. I look forward to the next one but I truly hope you make some major improvements on the game mechanics.

the first 13 brilliants are easy to get but the last two are way to hard to get because the last ninja boss makes it to the gems while invisible

kongregate....PLEASE GET RID OF THE DANG "BEST" COMMENTS...*Achem* well...at least if your going to keep them then just ORDER them in that way...so we can still just hit an arrow to go to the next page of comments like before but it'll just start from highest rated comment to lowest

I'm not a big fan of tower defense games, but this one was great for what it was.. I wonder if it'd be possible to make a sequel where you were the one on the side of the waves.. that is to say, a tower OFFENSE game. It might be interesting.. to play as a general in charge of a horde of cannonfodder. Just a thought.
