Nice game, I started a couple of times with the fire mage, but it was super hard, I never managed to get past the first room on second level. Now with a warrior, it's going quite smoothly. Am I right or you do not get any permanent benefit after death?

ok.. it's the third time that i have to restart the game cause when i speak to the indiana jones/vendor the game freezes and i have to refresh the page1/5 cause i'm pissed

Huh, so scroll of hellfire does set cobwebs on fire, even the ones i am standing on. Welp time to restart then. This game is so much fun.

Could you please assign the 'wait a turn' to either Q or W, too? It would help a lot on those who has no numpad / using laptop, etc.

Loving this one. I see some inspiration from Cardinal Quest 2, which I also love.
I'd love to see some Achievements added, and some prizes for the achieves.
Thanks for the game!
Achievements (especially tricky, difficult to pull off ones) are planned for the far future once more pressing stuff is dealt with. Don't think I want to do any sort of in game prize though as I feel like that ruins the challenge somewhat.

while very clean and well done, its lacking in depth. Finding religion was nice but besides finding more there's very little drive to keep me playing. Honestly feels like a watered down nethack

This game very much reminds me of Brogue... like aside from actual graphics they're almost identical. (brogue has more screw yous though... like getting a ranged weapon is so rare it's not even funny)
I haven't gotten very far in Brogue but I loved all the grasses, gasses, chasms and just general environmental stuff that game had. So many of the major rogue-likes have comparatively bland dungeons.

Talking honestly: It has potential, but as of now it's fairly average. BUUUT it's only been out for nine days, and it seems that the dev is pretty damn good with updating. This might end up being quite cool :)

Fun game! One of my new favorites... but I did find a bug - managed to get NaN for the HP on two enemies down around level.. um, 8? I don't know, ogre with 93 HP originally, I think it was. Hit him and another guy with the slow-moving fireball, BAM, NaN hp, won't go down when I hit them anymore, game freezes next time I go back down to that level.

Fantastic game. I wouldn't mind some type of bonus (not necessarily an in-game bonus) to track distance made by each class, but the game isn't really missing anything without it. I would rate it a 4 star, but the dev seems very intent on responding to feedback and upkeeping the game, which makes is a 5, easy.
Thanks for the feedback. Once I get through all these bugs, balance issues, and new classes, I'll probably look into something to give the game a nice end game. Stat tracking, death and win lists, deepest dungeon reached and neat optional achievements like kill 6 maggots with a single swing of your axe.

Ugh, one shotted myself just because Charge skill, apparenty, uses my weapon after you charge into enemy, and the weapon was lighting axe... And the enemy standed in water. Anyway, i got bored at floor 5 on my first go. Game dosnt offer much varietty and overall super easy. Shops selling same stuff on each level +1/2 new items and if i dont buy those stuff on early level, i dont need it at all, so why would i bump into at at every floor? Also my warrior could not learn half skills (mushroom +5, shield wall) even tho had talents for it. Cant say it was a bad game, its just a game to play once and forget. What can be done? Well, a skill tree that you can level up between runs.

I feel like the necromancer gives up too much damage for the poison trait. The low base damage of the staff means growth is very slow, and by the time other classes are doing 5-6 damage, the necromancer is still lucky to do 4 per round after the poison is considered.
Whaa, everyone else says the necromancer is horrifyingly overpowered. Maybe try playing around with his abilities a bit more. If anything he's in serious need of a good nerf hammer at some point.

suggestions:
- ice mage/tempperature mage with some skills
- make necro use the "blood" ground to heal/ summon something... actualy necro pprimary skill is to summon undead
- pplaying with the warrior or berserk is way easy cause of initial high hit points, rebalance it somehow...

I'm sitting here staring at my screen wondering how to use my ring of life saving. I died and now it pulled up the menu to choose between returning to the main menu or using my ring, but I'm unable to click "Use the ring of life saving". Any ideas on how to help me? I'm trying to save the run through cause it'sby far the best I've done yet.
Hmmm I've heard of it not working before from someone. Sorry this happened to you. I'm testing it my side and it seems to work just fine, so I'll have to look into what could possibly be going wrong here with other peoples setups.

Absolutely loving the game! It is tons of fun. I've currently beat the game with all classes, yet I keep coming back as each run is so different and I love seeing all the new things you add/tweak.
Just wanted you to know I private messaged you a few bugs that I have found. I know you check comments so I wanted to make sure you had seen them. One is completely game-breaking and I didn't feel like posting it.
Thanks so much for both of your PMs. Very helpful with all the details you provide. *edit* gonna add this to all my replies for a bit. I have 1 suggestion. Make the mages basic attacks less influential, but support their caster style. In the early game any mage is played the same as a ranger, shoot it till its dead, rarely use skills. If basic attacks did less damage and regenerated mana, or something, I feel like they would feel more like wizards than rangers with elemental spells.
Absolutely something to think about. The ranger is getting implemented sometime in the next few days and if anything he's going to feel like the weak ranger since he has to use darts to produce his range attack. Regening mana is probably to powerful but reduced damage and maybe reduced range to something like 4 tiles so that the ranger (and thrown weapons) become the king of long range attacks. Also, I really like the Rat Piper and Vampire Bat (usually, they can be tough depending on class, etc. if encountered on level 2) and would like to see more uniques like them, maybe with special drops or a guaranteed loot drop with a chance of a higher tier item like the inferno sword or thunder axe?
Great ideas with the special drops for named mobs. There were originally supposed to be more of them but just sort of ran out of time/other more important things came up. So that's certainly a an area to improve on. I like any sort of content that is rare and occurs in only a small fraction of runs. I feel like if you can add enough stuff that occurs say 1/100 times then every single run has some really rare unique thing pop up and surprise you.

I am really liking a lot of the updates, and am looking forward to more. Gaining skill points when acquiring skill books was a nice touch (I did not gain any points picking up the warrior book as barbarian, unsure if points are supposed to be gained with that one). The barbarian is exactly the upgrade/alteration the knight needed. The knight feels a little weak in comparison now; perhaps go all-in on the tankiness and/or switch out skills (and starting weapon) to specialize with/increase efficiency of the longsword/blocking. the 15HP is nice at the start, but is eclipsed by the 20% barbarian melee bonus. Also start with an additional 10% physical reduction +/- decrease hp at start (10% reduction and 10hp?). You have made a real gem here, and it is just getting better each day. Thank you for this, and with how interactive you are with the community on here.
You've nailed it with regards to the knight (he should really be renamed warrior -> knight). That's the direction I want to take him. Just keep pushing him in the tank direction and keep pushing the barbarian in the crazy damage output direction. I tried selling energy mushrooms (I was playing a warrior, and I wanted to buy some stuff from the merchant), but while clicking on the purple mushrooms, it actually sold the meat in my inventory. Great game, though!
Thanks for letting me know! This helps a lot since regarding merchant crashes. There's something screwy with the way his and the players inventory are being refreshed between sales. One of the best rogue likes on the site that I played. Top notch. It's difficult and has high replay value due to the very different strategies required by the various classes. So far managed to retrieve the hallowed goblet with the storm mage...now let's see if I can do it with the others.

On level nine, just got all 6 class books, game was slowing down a bit and enchant scroll was being weird so saved and quit, and refreshed the page. When I try to load the game, the screen just goes solid grey and nothing happens. Grrrr.
If you still have the save file I'd appreciate a console log right as the screen crashes. This game really needs some sort of "ranger' class. Something that focuses on the ranged attack skill, since as it stands there's no reason to put any points in it
He's coming soon I promise. Barbarian cut in line though right before he was going to be released, and we were all to scared to say anything. @TakashiKurorai: I agree, have had two awesome barbarian runs ended by them (one with a +6 axe and 20 points into melee, fortitude and stealth with a warrior book on top of it all). Charging them or warping adjacent with a blink scroll is essentially auto-death.

May need to set a rule on chests and pools not spawning next to each other, just opened a set of the runed/locked doors (only one entrance tile) and the pool and chest block any entry/exit to the enemies.

Those ice statues are murder. What's their deal--do they reflect melee damage dealt them? Do they just hit that strong when you're standing next to them? Do they point-blank pulse damage? ...In other news, while merchants don't crash my game anymore, sometimes I talk to them and ask to buy stuff... and the merchant window won't open.
Ice statues are on The List. Something crazy happening with them lately. Me and that merchant are going to have a looong talk. Its bad enough that he's some kind of immortal demigod that can traverse the dungeon at will and ALWAYS has better items then you. Now he's crashing your games! Seriously, his ass is so on The List.

there should be like a forum for all the the dumb ways we died. i got a good, one walking in the sewers at 2hp, not a good idea

I believe a good solution to stop gas deaths is spawning some sort of "Haze" tile around the gas as it is spawned initially, where the gas will expand to. This not only helps newcomers like me not die to gas the first time we encounter it no knowing it expands, but also allows you to path around the haze tiles as if it were a fire mushroom and thus prevent autoexplore death.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I think the reason gas can kill when you try to autoexplore would be when it is expanding, and you walk onto what was a safe square only to suffocate. This is how I lost my storm mage with a +4 staff.
Thanks for clarification. Ouch, yeah that sounds about right. Not sure if there is a clear solution to this problem since gas can technically spawn anywhere because of necromancers and bloats. I could always close (treat like traps) the tiles around the vents but that's going to be weird when they are empty. Unless you can think of a simple elegant solution my only advice is not to auto explore with low HP.

Potions and drinking from wells should give you +5 or +10 FD. Eating mushrooms maybe just +1 simply because there's so many, or +5 and re-balance with regards to meat.

Great game. Unfortunately, the farthest I've gotten, I bought dragonscale armor and either that made it freeze or pressing c to equip it did. Music still goes on or off based on last click being on the screen, and clicking items makes the appropriate sound, but the screen is frozen.
There were some issues with the merchant which I hope I've fixed. Let me know if they continue to occur please. Was unable to replicate them on my system.

Goblet? Hmm... It would go great with this amulet I've had for forever. (Please tell me that there's a mac classic as a thrown weapon in here.)
NO! STOP! Dark legends from ages past speak of the terrible darkness you will summon forth if ever the two should meet! Darker still are the almost unspeakable whispers regarding what will happen if a certain Orb of Zott is brought into the mix... You are walking a dangerous path my friend, I shall pray to the great RNG god for your safety....

So sad... it was a wonderful run and I was unstoppable on lvl 14; and then I talked to the merchant and the game crashed :-(.
Sorry about that, working on that as I speak err type. Seems I dun goofed when I added selling to merchants. Since this appears to be a critical crash effecting everyone I'm trying to get the update asap.
