i got soft locked because i fell into a pit trap in an arcane tower side area and when i went to leave the stairs to go back up were trapped behind a gate that i had no key to, so i couldn't leave the side area to get back to hte main dungeon forcing me to restart the run.... very annoying

the charm spell in particular seems overpowered (probably confusion as well). most spells/abilities require an investment in stats/items or other support to stay useful and scale up to deal with late game threats. But charm automatically scales with the power of the enemy, and none of them seem immune or resistant to it, and it doesn't need any spellpower at all to be great. It's basically a 4 mana better than instadeath spell.

My Barbarian had 97 hp, 16 protection, fire toxic cold resistance, and can crit for 156 damage. And a yak threw him down the pit. F-ck this shit either work on your documentations or add a warning when you'll die next turn.

I would really like to know when a talent isn't even useable by my class before I put the point in. There was no warning that Necromancer can't use Deflect, and Perfect Aim doesn't do anything.

so im stuck non the arcane tower 4/4 and im surrounded by lava i dont know if you would be able to levitate over the lava but as a rogue thats not available to me (atm) so im effectively stuck so is this a flaw in design or is there a way out and im just an idiot?

This is extremely frustrating. At about 50 deaths. Of those, only had one game that was even looking hopeful. But of course, that didn't matter because crystal golems exist. This isn't a rogue-like. Those games have some kind of incremental gain for reaching certain points that in turn help you with future runs. I keep getting wrong/useless items to the point I may as well just force a death if I don't get some decent piece of gear early on.

I don't usually comment, but when I do, it's for a game like this. Best roguelike I've found on Kongregate, bar none. Huge range of play styles in the various characters and hybrid options, and perfectly captures the roguelike spirit. Great Job, I don't know how you'll top this one, but I'm looking forward to number 4!

Ashing a character wastes the effort of the player developing that character. Once I realized the character was ashed, I lost interest in this game.

I went down into an optional dungeon, and a fire lizard shot flames at me across a gap. I then went up, and, on the same place, there was smoke drifting up out of a gap in the floor. I'm amazed by the attention to detail.

why no saves? I just wrong clicked and went forward instead of back...of course death. Why no saves to load when making so stupid mistake?

I feel like enemy mages' resistances need a rework. near the beginning of the game one run I had a 6 damage staff and a 21 damage fireball (after my spellcast modifier). The fireball did 1 damage to one of those 10 health fire mages and the staff did 2. Fire mage was not in water and neither attack was a crit. 21 damage -> 1 damage is either -20 to damage or >95% damage reduction. Meanwhile 6 damage -> 2? Even with randomization this seems ridiculous.

Could you possibly reward the leftover experience from hives and nests that would have been gained by killing each spawn? Its a bit tiresome to have to play that way for the biggest advantage.

how do crits work in this game? it feels like they're bypassing protection entirely, which seems a bit unfair to high prot builds (which are fairly weak as is) when you're forced into an autocrit situation (I was just hit with some webbing attacks)

After using a scroll for a charm, equipping it didn't even give me the option of activating it. Refreshing the game didn't fix the problem. It didn't persist after that run though.

A locked stairs room (where you need to find hte switch) just happened to me, on a level wherein I randomly hit a pit trap. so I fell to a lower level and couldn't get back up since I had no keys and the gate was locked cuz I hadn't hit the switch yet. and it was in one of hte side areas so just going down is a dead end. Need to prevent that happening.

Trying to get a win streak in the daily challenge is rough, but giving you only one shot at it in a day is just obnoxious and off-putting.

play a warrior 10 times, great spellcaster gear. get annoyed, switch to fire mage=find full plate, greatsword, ring of strength :/

great game my only complaint is that I wish it would default to a weapon if you run out of darts and not your bare hands that are weak and will kill you

Also, is the Staff of Magic Missiles *supposed* to act like a physical attack when people are on unstable ground? Because it always crits for me when no other staff does.

game balance overall feels a bit too biased toward range. once you get the right stuff, you can trivialize many melee enemies; while the ranged and caster enemies remain quite dangerous always. classes with stronger ranged setups seem a lot more reliable to work with, and few enemies have strong gap-closers.

I finally beat it! Winning strategy used the classic necromancer (life spike+cannibalize) but also found a tome with flash freeze, letting me freeze all enemies in view. With excess mana, enemies were constantly frozen, unable to attack.

I love this game, the hotkeys and little quality of life shortcuts are fantastic. As a chronic DCSS player I just slipped into using the DCSS shortcuts I use and almost all of them work. Great job.

amazing game, i may be addicted to it. after hours of playing tho i still have no idea why shield sometimes turn red. also, you NEED a boss / bosses for this kind of game, i know it's probably on the list of things to add but i wouldn't have noticed this game was unfinished if you had a boss / minibosses at the end of the optional dungeons.

going up or down a floor when flames expire seems to put the smoke sprite on the map forever and any items sold to the shopkeeper when his inventory is full disappear disappear forever. Ranger might've been buffed too much or strafe shot might just be overpowered but the buffs to rouge over 2 are great since it's actually satisfying to be stealthy now and you can hit a lot harder with the overall buffs to crits as well. all in all big improvement over the 2nd one, especially since you seem to be patching frequently and dealing with any issues that're pointed out.

It generated a level I can't finish. I played as a ranger and the exit was separated by water stalagmites which the game apparently doesn't see as obstacles. Is there maybe a way to destroy them?
Working on more general crashes atm before trying to deal with Edge again. I got pretty discouraged trying to fix it since it seems like the error I'm getting from edge is just this generic nebulous error that developers all over the net working on completely different types of projects are getting and no one knows what its means. So I'll likely take another stab at it at some point but the more general bugs effecting everyone take priority.

I beat this game with the first try. But that was amazing! I had a lot of hard situations - every step could be the last one. And best part of this game - items. Every wand, every scroll or potion are very useful and valuable because it really saves you in that hard situation.

I have only played a little but I want to say the game is awesome. Every feature is improved compared to its previous version and I really like that now is more focused on the abilities instead of the weapons; the game is more challenging and there is more variation in each run. Vote:100/5. Quick (maybe stupid) question: is the daily challenge the same for all players?
Thank you! Yes, the daily challenge is the exact same layout, exact same drops, exact same enemies for all of us. Added the code to 'seed' games so its just using the current date for all of us as the seed in the daily challenge.

Arcane tower 4/4 the lava zone position you are sent to from the portal gets you stuck if you don't have a teleport potion. If you try to cross through the lava it's not possible and the response is - dangerous terrain.

ranger has realy high deffense and high mobility. if you are lucky to get archer relligion, the run should be piece of cake.
protection armor is also usefull.
ps: take care. crystal golems in the end do have high reflect value.
