Beat it first time through. Use storm mage and get enemies to follow you through water. By the time there's no more water your AOE will kill almost everything in one shot.

Very cool game, but the difficulty varies a lot depending on the class you choose. For optimal results I can recommend ranger, this one seems to have an easier time than the others.

remember people, it's turn based, take your time and don't just blindly rush into a room. if you think you are stuck, find the stairs you went down to get to that level and go back up to a previously cleared level to heal. if you don't need to use a healing/energy pool, then skip it so that you can come back later to use it if you need to.

Ooookkkkkkaaaayyyyy. After more than two dozen attempts, none of which made it past level 5, I have decided to call this one done. 3/5 stars. It is fun to play but having only one life that ends so quickly then starting over from scratch is very annoying and frustrating. Nests or rooms that burst open with you surrounded and you only have one square attack weapon, no healing potions, no way of escape to heal up, you die and repeat this over and over. Not fun.

iluvtrolls: it's a roguelike. when you die you're dead. start again. there are no incremental bonuses from dying, but as you play you'll get better.

First run through. No freakin instructions on what I am doing. My dude just starved to death because I couldn't find any food. I started with a drumstick(?) but I ate it when my health was low. Seemed like a plan at the time. Level 3 dude just wasted away and now I am starting over from scratch. Seems like his efforts should be good for something.

I would agree with Rease that necromancer is the way to go for the hard badge, but I think it's a mistake to not leave yourself anything for life spike or cannibalize. Multiple life spikes can essentially turn you immortal and cannibalize can keep it going.
Also: strafe attack, picked up from the athletics book. Also, talents see diminishing returns as you upgrade them, so don't go all in on a couple talents. For stats: Just go for focus.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Rease's quick hard badge guide: Play Necromancer. First talent: Focus. Second Talent: Summon Skeleton. All skill points into Focus. From then on, put points into Summon Skeleton whenever it's available, and max that and Focus out. Summon as many skeletons as your mana pool can allow. Play smart and don't be afraid to retreat upstairs. Use your mana potions to refresh your skeleton army. You can beat this game without ever attacking anything yourself after level 4. If you are near the very end, don't be afraid to just skip to the last floor. The extra risks you take on floors 13-15 aren't worth it since you can beat the last floor if you can beat the 12th floor most of the time. This isn't a game that has to be fully completed in order to win.

and here i used the scroll of domination on the necromencer waiting for him to make me a skelton army ..... nope dead

Yeah, the hard badge image is really similar to the hard badge in Rogue Fable 2. I couldn't figure out anything different to use, okay?!

@4L3AF this game, like that one game you mentioned (with all the annoying clones.. not necessary) is based off of "Rogue" which was a game that basically gave birth to the term roguelike.. along with rogueLITE too.
and it looked pretty similar to this, except it was WAY more difficult and food was scarcer, also being ONLY in ascii characters.

finally beat arcane tower... I just had to keep trying it till I could win out of stubbornness... my reward 2 potions, some bombs and a book of stuff I already know >.>
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Is this just another pixel dungeon port or are all rogue games this similar? Crystal chests that lock, super rare "food" (such a silly one... I'd eat rats if I was starving to death; I'd even eat orc/elf/etc if my health was dropping every second because I didn't have meat.), and poor item balance with high amount of reliance on luck to get items and gold.

Hmm... it says you can use > to fast travel or whatever. I'm spanish, I use a keyboard a bit changed and have to hold shift and press a key between the Z and the Shift to write > and it doesnt work xd where you have the > I have the : lol

SO I'm sewer 4/4 and I don't see an exit. I have exploration completed and all the monsters + stone doors defeated/unlocked.

Just got the chakram for the first time and now I'm going to go live out all my Xena: Warrior Princess dreams. I'm fan of RFII and this is great! Can't wait to pick this up on Steam too.
Glad I could help with the dream fulfillment :P You have no idea how many times I've misspelled that word in the code and caused all sorts of issues lol.

Are bows in the weapons category or projectiles? I've been trying to get one as a warrior/barbarian using scrolls and wishing wellls.

It sucks that when you use a scroll of teleport to flee for your life, everyone magically still knows where you are, even if you teleport to an empty room.
Never even thought of that, thanks! They really should forget about you when you teleport. It will at least give you an extra turn when you've displeased the RNGod and he teleports you 2 tiles to the left.

@blackcatcurse Z would be very awkward to use with the ability hotkeys. As a workaround if you put your weapon in the quick slot you can auto-attack with Q. This would work for mages, not so well for melee/ranger.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Suggestion: Take autoattack off of Tab. Tab has some properties that make it target a new interactible on the website, and not fire properly in the game. Could it be changed to Z?
Thank you :) Its pretty much designed to take some time to get used to, so the early losses are to be expected. Good luck on pushing through! Just to give you a bit of light at the end of the tunnel, the more experienced players I've talked to are generally able to maintain something like an 80% win rate with some pretty insane win streaks.

with the daily challenge, if you defeat the game with the random character you are given, it should allow you to continue playing the game with a new random character.
I realized much later that he was gaining double bonuses from stealth as far as his crit hits go (as a bug in code), but its pretty much baked into the balance at this point lol.

A Barbarian with a solid axe, strafe attack, full bloodlust and a +5 Charm of healing. It can clear just about anything.
We're def having trouble balancing him. He seems to be significantly more gear dependent than any other char, swinging wildy between super weak and pretty much unstoppable. I think it just has a lot to do with the way his cooldowns recharge. He basically snowballs in power since as he gets stronger he kills faster which causes him to recharge faster, causing him to kill faster.... very tricky balancing act here :P

Finally! All vocations below 45! Great game. But I'd like to continue playing after the main quest is finished. So I can bully all them core freaks.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Finally beat the game, found an Axe of Electricity(cant recall its exact name) early, iirc it was the first item i found and i was like holy crap. Only drawback is it almost killed me when i got ambushed in the water and was just clicking and i shocked myself close to death, so if you ever get it pick another weapon when in water.
Not sure how you can win as warrior without an axe or a bunch of really good wands/charms.
Killing yourself with an Axe of Electricity is pretty much guaranteed to be an achievement at some point :P Its pretty much a rite of passage at this point.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
It sucks, but level 9 usually tells whether you'll be able to finish the game or not, with the special room with the spell book boxes.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
@stochastic there are always 2 switches, one next to the stairs (If you fall in a pit trap you could'nt go back without it), and a second one somewere in the dungeon (for me it has always been at the top lleft corner)
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I died because I misclicked and blew myself up with a firepot. Are there any more humiliating ways to lose a good run?
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
107 hp warrior with 2 resistance to all elements and 15 armor died do to a crit from a flesh golem that did 78 damage!! wtf!?
