Ugh I was finally making some progress and then my level 6 ranger went down a set of stairs full health and mana. He even charmed one of the mummies. Sadly though he was killed within seconds because he was surrounded by mummies and scorpions. There were at least a dozen things around him trying to kill him. No way to survive that no matter what I did and I tried to run back upstairs but something followed and killed him. I am soooo done! I really wanted to like this game because it was fun to play but just not able to make any real progress. Feels very unbalanced against me.

I wish going to a health fountain when you're already at full health would increase overall health similar to the potions...

best way to win with all class is lv up dexterity and skill point use on stealth ... when you have evansion on max you should lv up strength melee or intelligence on mage and give some points into fortitude becouse you no wanna die from unluck ... best charms are lightning and healing ... potions use with max HP or MP pemrament points ... always visit severs, cold, arcane tower, core becouse you got more lvs and lot of things from this ... when you wanna only win game for hard badge pick necro and play safe :)

Necro, all in skeletons and focus = ez game, but you must be very careful, cause you really suck at tanking any dmg :D
Food should almost never be an issue. Some things to note: don't rest unless you really need to. Try not to use your food to heal yourself. Eat your food when your really low (I sometimes wait until I'm actually taking damage). Make use of fountains on the level to heal rather than resting. Food is guaranteed to spawn on every 4th floor of the dungeon (this food alone should be enough). If your still having food problems you can always buy food from the merchant or use one of your wishes to get 3 food. Good luck!

Just did it with a warror, 86 minutes. Basically optimized all on damage output, every skill point into melee, many talents into weapon mastery, dash, that power strike. Last leve danced a lot on the stairs to clear it. Once was down to only 1 hit point when tons of ice bombs exploded...

@End_of_Eternity -- Those switches are intentional; some timed door closing areas have the switch so your character can get out of the room.

When I load the game it gets to 99% and then a gray box appears in the right corner and it won't complete the load???

How I got the hard badge:
1. I chose Enchanter
2. Confusion is your best friend, especially in group fights (ended lvl 3)
3. Fear is nice when monsters are too close to you (ended lvl 1)
4. Charm is useful, especially in later floors, to turn archers into your friends while bringing them close to you and killing them when the charm effect runs out (ended lvl 1)
5. If you pick up the Ranger tome with strafe, then strafe is nice to 1v1 high health monsters or monsters in general
6. If you find the side-dungeon, go through those floors to level up your character a couple times
7. Increasing mana to increase the number of times you can throw out spells makes enchanter really good. By the end of the run, I had around 22-27 mana
8. As you farm gold, use them on meat/pots and skill trainers (25 gold/skill +1). Skill trainers start appearing on higher floors. (I think floor 10+?)

It was a one-shot once I have stopped using Infectious disease as a necromancer (always ended up infecting myself as well at one point :D). And getting Strafe attacker (from Ranger book) was useful as well. Awesome game!
Thank you! Infectious disease is definitely a very situational spell. Very overpowered when used correctly, very overpowered (in killing yourself) when used incorrectly :P Glad you enjoyed the game!

This is a well-crafted and addictive game. After countless attempts, I *finally* won. And I'll come back for more, that's a guarantee. Great replayability factor, designed by someone who obviously has played a lot of dungeon games. Please keep on making great games like this.

I love the game but the equipment RNG is all over the place. I reached lvl10 and all I had in my warrior was mage and ranger stuff. I get that it's supposed to be hard, but that doesn't mean it not supposed to be enjoyable!

...monster reflected my attack right back at me when i had full hp and i died talk about mean on the closest run to winning once at that

Interesting note: if you will select an item which affects all visible enemies (for example: scroll of hell fire) it will highlight all visible enemies including enemies in ambush! :)) So you can chech whether this tile has an enemy which is about to ambush you. You can even hit that tile to kill it.

Completed on my 2nd go (although I have played a lot of roguelikes in the past). Did pretty badly with the rangers on my first go, completed with the warrior. I had bad luck finding any melee weapons until pretty late in the game, only found gloves and shoes (not much use) right near the end and never found a helmet, but I may have been very lucky to get a greater staff of fire and a vampiric ring. The ring was very important for my survival.

I'm mildly disappointed the badges have nothing to do with the time challenges within the game, lol. Maybe an Extreme badge for finishing them all under 45:00?

This game is very well designed: you can feel the care and attention to detail that went into it. Little things like keyboard shortcuts, accelerated travel over explored terrain, the fact that you don't have to start over from scratch after the game crashes. Very neatly done.
Escaping up a flight stairs while webbed crashed the game: it froze while fading to black to transition. Curiously, when I reloaded, I got a message telling me that I've fallen down a pit, and I'm one level lower than before.

Okay... This is driving me insane. Earlier, this wasn't happening, but now when I'm trying to play and I press the arrow keys to move up or down, my window moves with it...

Great game! It took my warrior 371 minutes to eradicate all monsters in the dungeon and I enjoyed each one of them. Finding a book with swiftness was game changing. Combined with a halberd it means no melee damage. Ranged enemies are easily run down. And most importantly: it saved my life when the enemies came from behind on 16th floor.

Probably one of the best games on the site. I would love to see a volume slider instead of just on/off. Thanks for another great game justin

the controls for this seem kinda bad. I'm using the num pad to move, the mouse to target with my staff and the other numbers to specify spells?

As a mage player, I REALLY don't see why everyone is complaining about lack of food. I've literally used food in the last level as quick recovery packs, having 4 or so in inventory. Won on 5th try as a Storm Mage, he and Enchanter seem really good at crowd control, which is a must. As is Evasive talent.
I honestly don't know. In all the months we were alpha testing the game I don't think food ever came up as an issue. I know for myself I pretty much never run out and like yourself, am often using it as an emergency healing item. I'm actually very curious to see someone play that is having issues with food, since I really can't figure out what they are doing that would make it so bad.

LOL you could create an auto-save in every floor. Your game is a total disaster. Where's continue button after my death? What I am supposed to do after dying? See the attributes of a dead body? You really destroyed this game with the little brain you have of designing.

I must say...for how much I love the fable series, the same problem that made me stop playing the previous games is still here: RNG BS. What can you do if you spawn in a room full (more than 10) of enemies, half of which is elite? Refresh the page and lose all your progress. Not happy bout that.

I won with a level 20 Fire Mage. Suggestions: Do all the detours! Invest in intelligence (15), strength (15), spell casting (10), fortitude (10), reflecting gear, dodge talents, if you're lucky you'll find an ice staff in the polar region, and buy every single piece of meat. Other than that, don't be afraid to retreat especially on lvl 16. If you're swarmed and you retreat to a different level, only one or two will follow you which lets you pick them off easily without the other 20 monsters killing you, then you can heal and go back. Rinse and repeat. Other than that it's luck and trial and error. Storm and Fire can use water and plants to weaponize the terrain.

Meat is guaranteed to drop on floors 4, 8, 12, 16 and at least 1 meat with every merchant. If you find yourself starving to death you are probably resting too much - work on trying to reduce the damage you take by using the environment and positioning better. Only eat food when you start taking starvation damage. If you are really tight on food you can tank the starvation damage until you are half HP. Using level ups and fountains of health this can last quite a while.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Unlike most rogue-like games, there's no incentive to play over and over. There's no rewards unlocked every time you get a certain distance to make the next run just a little easier. Every run is 100% random. Sometimes I get a crapload of meat, but no useful build to beat enemies. Other times I get a god-tier set of equipment, but no meat drops. I've yet to get that sweet spot where you get just enough meat to survive, and good items to complete the levels through.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Nightshde you must be incredibly unlucky, if you don't take too much time (i.e. no going back two floors to buy stuff from a shop) you should be able to make do with the meat you find. Also, try to save meat for when you are at 1 or two food points (or anywhere below 7 if you desperately need healing). All shops carry at least one piece, and all shops have shared inventory, so it shouldn't be too hard. I do agree that Hunger is kind of annoying and pointless, but it is less of a difficulty then you would expect, even when going through all of the sidequests.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
The hunger bar really adds an unnecessary difficulty. I've starved I don't know how many times because I can never seem to find any food beyond the initial piece of meat.

These characters go through all of this pain, suffering, and determination just to get a sip of booze from an enchanted goblet... XD
There's an overly dramatic 'public service announcement' commercial in there somewhere about the dangers of alcoholism and what it does to people lol :P

I really love this game and have put many hours in. I want to play the Steam version, but it's not available for mac. :(
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Feels more prone to difficulty spikes than the previous game. I never have to worry about HP attrition, just getting pulverized by an unexpected challenge.

why is it that in the first level of the dark temple there is a wall that have a blue crystal at the utmost north-west corner of the level . when i hover the cursor over the blink scroll an option appear to blink to a square in the black outside boundaries of the map , but that sqyare is red which means i can't blink to it . i guess i have to look for a telleportation scroll . or maybe it is required to have to blink scroll first
