Managed to pull out hard badge with necromancer. Skills: summon skelly, focus; attributes: intelligence. Gets your horde size way up quick. Add an energy charm (which you should enchant) to recharge energy if your horde gets decimated, and you're golden.

Reeeally random and sometimes either unfair or bugged (ballista shooting through a thick wall??), otherwise great game...

Got it under 45 with all class and 5 randoms strikes in row. Definitively one of the best game ever on kong.
Justin you owe my employer approx 150 hours of work :)

@JustinWang Sorry to disappoint but ranger (one of the easiest first win classes) is so good at win streaking it gets removed from the leaderboards xD

@frostpaladin A trick that might help with ice mage is to use the freeze spell to create a wall. Use that to get close enough to cast freezing cloud, then run away and let the enemy die.

Still sour about having to choose between Necro-poison or a new attack in order to deal damage. (RF2 allowed attack damage + previously laid poison damage) not sure why this doesn't.

If anyone is curious, 15 win streak was done with thief. Build is 1. stealth 2. evasive 3/4. evasive 2 / smoke bomb 1 (order depending on whether ranged enemies are present) and then playing it by ear depending on items and the level 9 tome drop. Strength with attributes, fortitude with skill points. The build is weaker than necromancer or enchanter but more reliable due to the higher hit points and evasive. Beyond all the normal tricks (kiting enemies over bad terrain, carrying enemies through the stairs one by one to deal with otherwise unbeatable mobs) I also made one major playstyle change to avoid deaths, and that was not to attempt the arcane tower (which is much more dangerous than the other bonus dungeons) without having reached level 13 first + having a fear or hellfire scroll incase things still go upside down.
Thats just crazy man, congrats :) Interestingly, I know one of the guys on the discord did a 12 win streak early on with warrior and I believe he said roughly the same thing i.e. the higher hit points makes him significantly more reliable with repeated plays. Its pretty neat imo that the classes that are considered easiest to get a first win i.e. necro, enchanter, ranger, are not the same as would excel in win streaks.

Terrific game, as someone else said, I think difficulty spikes can be bad. Especially as casters with short range (ice mage, enchanter) getting attacked by certain things (tentacle eel in particular I think) is something of a death sentence. Flash freeze is about the only spell that saves you, IF you found the book (and the durations seems to wear off fast).
I was killed a couple times by this stuff going in with FULL HP and mana. The range and damage on those guys is too high. You can get phys def, but magic def is way to RNG

Hell fire while in poison cloud.... apparently kills you. Didn't know it was a flammable toxin... it said nothing of the sort.

Ranger's Strafe attack can frequently kite enemies who target the previous square you occupied. Combine with speed boots/swiftness and there are entire fights you can go without ever being touched.

Well, it's quite hard, some lessons you will learn hard way (eg reflective beast, lightning tower and water etc) and RNG can work against you (useless items, hard monsters). Still, eventually you can beat it. I completed it as a fire mage.

Finaly completed the game for the 1st time.
I neede ovrt 2 months since the game published 68 deaths and a coment about how OP is the Undead horde build to do it but I finaly did it.

This game is fantastic. Total RNG, but that is a Roguelike for you - that is working as intended. My gripe (because of course I have one) is that the screen is just a little bit too big for my laptop display, so gets cut off; I sometimes miss things on the screen because of that.

The problem in this game is that you are not given the proper equipment on time and have to deal vs strong enemies dying so easily. It is like playing slot machine in the casino.

Can we get a forum section for this game? Would help to find other people that have the same issues rather than trying to find them in the comments.
There is a discord for the game with many helpful here: https://discord.gg/DFSVeZ The wiki is also quite helpful (not maintained by me) which is here: https://rogue-fable-iii.wikia.com/wiki/Rogue_Fable_III_Wiki

TFW you play as a basic melee class on your first playthrough and can't find any food or weapons.
Then you play as an archer and the dungeon gods rain treasure and food on you.
I am always happy to see a new Rogue Fable.

why the f$&^ do the enemies massive amounts of damage it is not fair! the game shouldnt be so hard right when it starts!!!!!!!!

This game needs a in game manual to tell you what half of this means... Cold out of 10 what does this mean? Wet? Unstable? Some of these explain themselves a bit... but I feel like the mechanics are the number one killer in the game. And there is no record for how far you got. It's either you win or you didn't. I think there should be two other records: value in gold[all gold plus value of all items] and number of floors completed.

fire mage + ring of dexterity (+3)+ring of evasion (+4) + greater staff of poison (+4) + burst of flame + sprint + shield up(passive) + strafe attack = the arcane tower was a walk in my backyard . basically i didn't need spells scrolls whatsoever . just hit-poison them , run with sprint and wait for them to die . without forgetting to barbecue them with a burst of flame . simply exquisite . but in the end i died in the core when 5 LAVA EELs ambushed me !!! imagine that ! their basic attack was around 12 , simple maths concluded that i should die !! and by the hands of eels goddammit !!

I found a soft lock related to door generation: it happened twice to have a room with the stairs to the next floor locked by a red gate. However the switch required to unlock the gate is also behind it.
The situation can be solved easily with a scroll of blinking, but if you are not in possession of it, well end of the game. Hope it can be useful to devs!
Also, f**k golems with reflection :P

Fantastic roguelike. If you're wondering about gold, you'll eventually run into a wandering merchant. Ended up winning finally with a ranger that I basically turned into a rogue. So high stealth/evasion. Find a good melee weapon in addition to the bow. That way you can kill the sleepers and deal with the reflective ice golems. great combo using the deadeye skill and then the power shot and tunnel shot bow skills.
Congrats on your first win! Quite interesting that you went the stealth route for your first victory. Mostly I see people just pouring everything into either A) ranger range damage or B) Necro skeleton swarms for their first victory.

The necromancer is fun: summon a horde of skeletons, throw "disease", and run for it. Enemies get jammed up on all the skeletons (who can't catch it) and you get away safe.

My favourite causes of death:
Should have used the damn scroll.
Oh, the crystal golem is reflective.
Oh, it seems I stood on the grass.
Came for the badges, stayed for the fun, great job!
Thank you very much! That's like the most classic rogue-like death :P We're so trained by RPGs to hoard every resource and just reload when we die. Nothing hurts more than dying and then going through your inventory and noting the 10 different ways you could have saved yourself.

Rogue is really easy for hard badge. Max stealth and evade and play like assassin. When multiple mobs aggro use sleep dart, crit, run and repeat. When you have high evade you will be rarely hit by melee mobs so it's best to stay at narrow corridors and lure mobs 1 by 1.
Great advice here! Evade is definitely an underrated stat in general. At the moment it might even be OP since enemy accuracy never increases. Basically if you get your evasion up to the point where you dodge say 30% of attacks, you will continue to dodge 30% of attacks even into the deeper levels.

I bought your game on steam bro as promised. Great job man keep up the great work. I cant wait to see your new upcoming updates for this game. You rock brother!
Out of curiosity what did you enjoy about it? RNG is basically at the heart of the rogue-like genre, what other aspects of the game did you find enjoyable?

Loved the games. Recommend using Storm mage or Enchanter for the hard badge.
Storm Mage: Lure enemies into pools of water then attack/lightning them.
Enchanter: Use confusion and charm to get enemies to fight each other.

@Iluvtrolls Try the tactic called stair dancing: Use power shot/tunnel shot, go back up the stairs, wait 10 turns, go back and repeat. Try to only let 1 enemy get next to the stairs at a time (by using power shot strategically), and then kite that enemy to death on the floor above.

@bobertson3: A bit of luck, a bit of skill, and a lot of attempts. Rogue is pretty good at speed runs - get dungeon sense, go down stairs and jump in pits as soon as you see them. A few blinks to grab the goblet and there you have it, <10min speed run.
