#nice game, but playing as a necro and applying desease is imoissible, as you get infected yourself. And there is no cure.

@pasikantola Max Evasion, +3 Ring of Evasion, Ice Armour, Resistance. Got one-shot, not even crit. So yea. We whine about RNG for a reason.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I think that most guys whining about RNG are dying in tower. Not going there without evasion even with 100hp. For rest of game, if you count on random be ready to lose on random too.

@TheSkiDude 1) there is gate blocking explore. 2) traps block explore 3) there is ambush somewhere. They are easy to find if you look at walls and see extra extensions which doesnt belong to normal walls.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Quick question...you looks like you've finished exploring a level, but is only "partially explored". How do you find the mystery place you have not found yet?

"Your level 16 Ranger killed himself in the Vault of Yendor"
From a reflected auto-attack, from full HP with Resistance.
I'm so heckin done, dude. Honestly screw this RNG, it's not even about skill anymore.

@BloodKat Having a high win % and winning under 45 minutes is very achievable. Who said you had to do both, or either? Just play however you want to have fun.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
@SwiftL4 The enemy never randomly crits. The only time you will suffer critical hits is when you are on unstable ground. There can be quite a lot of variation in damage though.

The 'game records' and 'beaten under 120/60 minutes' fields are entirely worthless and counterintuitive. Why would I ever want to rush playing a turn based strategy dungeon crawler? then you add a win% rate to stats, oh so, im suppose to never die and rush playing the game beating it under an hour every time? stupid achievements!! I'm not playing this anymore!
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Even after having beaten the game, I still stand by my opinion that it's infuriatingly frustrating. Finding proper items and building up a character is a challenge enough, but having it all wiped out by a random BS crit death from full hp just kinda kills the desire to play again. I hear the whole RNG argument, but I'm not spending another 40 minutes to get killed by some sh*t I couldn't have possibly predicted.

Evil Eyes need to be nerfed. Their confusion ability needs to have it's range, duration, or complete unavoidability decreased. Dying because you lost control of your character is a stupid way to go, especially when there is nothing you can do to prevent it.

Melee characters need a buff really i just get killed by 2 archers i haved a barbarian without throwing weapons and meanwhile i go to hit one the other shot me and so on i died i really prefer the mages or the archer
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Not as good as Rogue Fable II. Died twice desparately running around looking for food. Not fun that. Both times the game had just started to get interesting.

@getrektkid69 It is intentional. Among other things the size of a creature affects what terrain it is unstable on, only small creatures can be unstable on blood. Your character is a medium creature.
The game does not support the Edge browser if that's what your using. Chrome and Fire Fox should work if you have those. I tried to get Edge working but there's some mysterious issue with it that I wasn't able to figure out.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I wonder if certain mobs on blood are meant to take critical damage, whereas you wouldn't if you stood on it, is intentional. I hope it is...
That has to do with the size of the creature. Small creatures are considered unstable on blood and long grass. Large creatures are only unstable in water, or on ice and oil.

The Barbarian is the single most useless class in the game. I won with every other class, and was able to devise a decent strategy that allowed me to complete the game after a few tries. But with the Barbarian, it's hopeless. You can't rely on his class skills because they recharge unreliably and that idiot bloodlust meter doesn't stay charged unless you throw yourself repeatedly into huge groups of enemies, which the Barbarian is badly suited for since he has to rely so heavily on melee. The only way to win with him is by pure luck and getting just the right combination of items where you don't have to rely on his innate skills. But then what's the point of playing him?
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
For me, Necromancer, Ranger and the Rogue are probably the easiest classes to play as. Almost won as warrior too, after several failed attempts when i first played the game.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
What determined the probability of critical hits? I know there's crits on unaware targets, and certain special effects, but then there's random crits that seem to happen with no discernible reason.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Played all characters. Necromancer and enchanter were easiest so far and winning in 40 minute range was more than doable in few tries. Winning with ranger took longer but it was easy as well (if we dont care about time). Winning with elemental mages was doable. But i have absolutely no idea how to win with melee classes if you dont get vampire items. It is freaking impossible.
Congrats on the wins :). Melee classes rely very heavily on exploiting terrain. Getting enemies unstable, funneling groups into corridors, ducking around corners and forcing ranged enemies to come to you etc. From my own experience and speaking with players much better than myself, melees are just as viable even without good drops as long as your taking these advantages.

Turbo better have A health Potion when using infectios disease since it cures the disease. The lvl Up can also do the trick.

Just got the steam version and highly recommend it. One new class- duelist and get to chose from several "races" each with advantages/disadvantage (human being the base). New gear, a slight change to magic, new enemies. Definitely worth $5

I wonder if instead of a time goal, a turn goal would be better. Since the game is turned based I don't get the point of really real time rushing. To me it would be a far better judge just to be able to beat the game in a certain number of turns.
I would say the 'goal' of the game is really just to win. After that, to win with every class. If anything I think win streaks or win/loss % is a much better indicator of increasing skill and success. Generally, I feel like your play time will just decrease naturally as you get better at the game and except for the lowest, goal, the rest are achievable without even really 'rushing'.

At 16th floor and hey I can jump to the pit for hidden level maybe... "Your level 17 ice mage fell to his death. in the vault of yendor"

infectious disease can be very great, however it is also gamebreaking in the sense that if you contract it, it deals 3-5 dmg every turn for 30 turns. There is not really much you can do except watch your character die slowly... it is painful to watch. But great game!
Thank you! Infectious disease is sort of been designed as a high risk/high reward ability. In the steam version, shock has been nerfed a fair bit since it was basically the same power as disease without any of the risk. As a side note, a healing potion or fountain will immediately cure you of the disease.

Wow, I got my FIRST seed in the game that crashes upon attempting to enter the second dungeon floor.. and we can't give any seed information because it's not shown to us. well.. restarting.
Sorry about that. It must have been something really bad, since the levels should try to regen if they fail. Let me know if its a presistant issue and not some crazy one in a million chance.

Great game, as always. Just one thing. Don't you think the Necromancer is a little unbalanced compared to other heroes? Clearing the game with him is ridiculously easy with life spike/cannibalize/Summon skeleton. Just by cannibalizing, summoning skeleton and draining it's life with like spike you can become pretty invincible.
Thank you! The classes are not intended to be perfectly equal in difficulty but the necromancer is certainly a little beyond what would be intended as the range of balance between them. Draining a skeletons life is definitely an unintended bug/issue.

The description of Flaming Hands made it sound like I was going to add bonus fire damage to my projectiles. I was honestly a little sad that that wasn't the case; I thought it was a really neat idea. Projectiles need more love once you get to the lower levels.
Also, do the elemental weapons get bonuses from your spell/elemental mastery? I think they should but it isn't clear.

on the first run, a found charm doesn't trigger the new equipment prompt
, is it rings, armour sheild, and helmet only?

If you want easy mode use necromancer and spam skeletons, just pour a ton of points into max mana and some for hp as well. There is no limit to how many skeletons you can summon so go ham. had 10+ skeletons on the final floor and simply watched the massive war ensue while eating popcorn.

hellfire scroll is bugged, it kills you instantly if you are above anything flammable. I'm guessing it does 100% burn damage to everything. I dont think it's suppose to target yourself..

Have to do something about the challenge of this game. Beating it in 45 minutes is so arbitrary and there is no reward. If you beat it in 45 minutes it skips all the side dungeons and you don't get to look at all the combinations and cool things the game has to offer. Should just have hard mode and end game rewards to put the "rogue like" in the game. Excellent game so far though

Hint for Melee users- keep some kind of reusable ranged weapon to take out traps and mushrooms. And melee weapons can pop the clay pots so beware your strafe attack near them.

The best use for wishing wells and scrolls of attainment is food. Everything else is a crapshoot. Books are good early on for magic users but eventually end up with better chance of getting one that already have.

Seems to be some confusion on charging charms- If you mouse over them it will show how many squares of movement it takes to charge them. For ex. I used the blink charm to skip a locked gate. I had to basically walk in a circle until it recharged and blinked out.
