@Twinge: While I agree with you please do not post a wiki article as fact. Heres a page from that same wiki saying helene is great http://kongregate.wikia.com/wiki/Deck_Building_Strategy as I'm sure you know wikis can be edited by anyone who cares to edit it.

Kark: The over-arching point is that cards aren't the most important part of the game - player skill is. Yes, ValkAnex and JujuFeather are clearly too strong. But the game is balanced well enough overall that it really isn't that big of a deal - the tiers are pretty tightly packed. It could certainly be better, no arguments there - but what we have now is not bad.

thatscreen: Pro tip: Helene is actually the absolute worst character in the game. See #5 --> http://kongregate.wikia.com/wiki/Kongai_FAQ

Saying that it is possible to rank high with subpar cards doesn't really counter the point of them being subpar. It's possible to do well with Andro, but why would you bother, when you can do well with Anex for a tenth of the effort? Why would you bother running MlM when so many people use a character capable of oneshotting him? Why would you use Popo when one bad rng roll is likely to put him in a hole you can't climb out of? There's just no point, with other cards that achieve equal success with less risk, less effort, less time involved. For example, you CAN rank high in arena in WoW as a boomkin, but most people roll Resto instead because playing something that takes that much more effort for at best equal results is masochistic.

Redsnake: Assuming Popo had Feather equipped, that's about a 13% chance - not really that unlikely. In addition, using Helene is not a good choice if your goal is to win.

Blazian_Pyron: If by "makes the game fail" you mean "is the main reason it works well as a game", then you are correct!

Another reminded for the league - Skill Rank 25 or higher is required. See http://www.kongregate.com/forums/1/topics/53844 for information. Signups will be ending (and the league) starting fairly soon, probably about 2 weeks or so.

anyone know when the next update will come out? this one has been out at least a couple of years. its gotta be soon right? unless kongregate dropped the game

Karkadinn: Yeah, that's just not true. There's only one non-viable character right now (poor Helene, so awful). I've seen people pull top 5 ranks by using the likes of Andromeda, Cain, Amaya, and Popo. There ARE balance issues, no one can deny that, but they are often overblown; even in its current state the game is pretty well balanced overall.

Renegade0816 / ympb: New cards have been made for a while. They've finally started programming them recently. My current somewhat optimistic estimate is for new cards to see a public release in mid November.

(Really need to stop using comments as a mini-forum, but whatever, everyone is doing it...) Twing: No, people don't change their decks based on specific matches, but they do choose decks specifically based on what has the least amount of overall risk and the most countering potential for what's popular. Why even have so many cards if the only viable ones are a third of the total pool? I can be creative and lose a lot, or do cookie cutter and be successful. And it sucks either way.

Kark: Bah, my response was eaten - but to sum up what I was trying to say, counter-picks aren't everything. A few matchups are heavily lopsides (VV vs MLM, MLM vs Cain) but that's part of the reason you have 3-card decks. Most top players don't adjust their deck choices based on who they are playing (and if that were that important, I would be awful since I never do that.)

Skouge: You're trying to save the deck twice in a row almost definitely. You can't use the same name as any deck YOU already have - other people aren't considered at all.

Tell me how much skill matters while VV is one shotting my characters for 30 energy, Twinge. :P Like WoW arena, 99% of this game is just countercomping, and I'm sick of it.
