Under rating threshold (show) Heya again, RamboBatman! The computers win by finding all the future possibilities, something a human couldn't do in Kongai or Chess. The Kong Bot isn't meant to be good. I think that is pretty clear when you play it once or twice. It is true that a perfect computer cannot beat a human 100% of the time, but this is due to the fact that both moves are at the same time. I suppose you could call this luck, but I find that that this is the fun part of the game. There is nothing more satisfying then successfully intercepting, and nothing more annoying then having that intercept miss. Read my Rock-Paper-Scissors analogy.

Under rating threshold (show) "is chess simply a formula?" Well, kinda. There are chess playing computers that can beat any human opponent, living, dead, or superman. Moreover, these computers are not learning computers, they function based on a predetermined program or, if you prefer, a complex formula. Kongai differs from chess in that (as proven by the terrible Kong-bot) a non-learning computer cannot hope to beat a human player in a match of any significant length. Certainly, the best programed kongai playing computer would not beat you 100% of the time like a chess playing computer will. (I acknowledge the fact that a world-class chess player might be able to repeatedly stalemate a computer.)

Under rating threshold (show) Thanks for the quick and intelligent response. If the games were longer, I'd have no problem with Popo. The battles are too short for so much damage. No, Popo doesn't get killed. Popo has Elusive feather, and dodges enough attacks to stay alive. I was referring to Slingshot crits, which happen more often then the slingshot dealing normal damage. 60 damage is 1/4 - 1/3 of a team's HP. Slingshot can be used repeatedly, unlike other damaging attacks. Chi blast is comparable, and it costs 65+ energy. Say I have Amaya vs Popo. Should I Chi Blast (70 energy, 55 damage + burn, 6 speed) or switch out? If Popo crits, I've just lost a card.

Under rating threshold (show) Kongai CLAIMS to be rock-paper-scissors. Read the description. I'm comparing it to Rock-paper-scissors because you are rewarded for accurately guessing the opponent's move MOST of the time. Repeated games of R-P-S can take some skill, except a player can choose randomly. Kongai is like R-P-S with more options, so choosing randomly will not help. Is chess simply a formula? No.

Under rating threshold (show) Popo is a gamble character. He is *supposed* to be reliant on luck. Risk vs Reward. He's awesome when his attacks work, and gets smashed when they don't, and that's how he is supposed to be. On the subject of Crits, a crit is not an automatic GG. Not hardly. It hurts, but its not the end, and its a 3% chance, so its not like all games are going to have a game-changing crit in them. Kongai is not rock-paper-scissors. Rock paper scissors is boring, static, unchanging. This is a game. Remove the luck and you reduce the game to simply a formula. Luck is there, but skilled players can usually still win in spite of luck going against them.

Under rating threshold (show) pwnagellama: we've discussed this at some length and you do make some good points about the relative value of skill and luck in this game. However, skilled players will still beat unskilled players a great majority of the time. I know you think that "majority of the time" should be changed to "all the time" and I'm sure many people would agree with you. But, what you're asking for is essentially a rewrite of the entire game. Whether or not this would be for the better, it just is not going to happen. Some tweaks to certain moves, characters, or items might take place, but the sort of change you're asking for simply will not. Also, suggestions such as "double or triple everyone's HP," while they make sense to you, would send many players who feel that the games take too long running for the hills. I think reasonable solutions must not just better the game for more serious players such as yourself but, also for the casual players who only play occassionally.

Under rating threshold (show) I've written about luck in this game so far, but I'd like to make a special comment on Popo. Popo is the antithesis of fairness in this game. He has only one "fair" skill, which in Knee bash. If you can accurately predict what your opponent will do, you can use knee bash to punish them. Oh, wait, only a 85% chance to hit. I KNEW they were gonna Pilebunker, but I still got hit by it. Poison dart is pretty bad. If you proc with it 2 times in a row, it will kill most cards. (70ish damage.) Otherwise, it does a insignificant amount of damage. It can be used at any range, so it is impossible to avoid.

Under rating threshold (show) Slingshot is the worst. It has a 60% chance of missing, wasting a turn for you. However, if it crits, you've just wasted your opponent for 25 energy. It's spammable! You can change ranges, and still cast it many, many times. Reeeediculous. I've never ever, seen someone use Herbal Preparations. Never. It sucks, as far as I'm concerned. It doesn't even tell you the chance of healing! Popo's innate ability is also terrible, especially when coupled with the popolur Elusive Feather. Popo + Feather vs Zina at close range. Who will win? Who knows? Kongregate claims this game is like rock-paper-scissors. Imagine what rock-paper-scissors would be like if you have a 20% chance of not actually winning when you should. In Kongai, the game lasts little more then 10 attacks hitting. (At LEAST 20 damage per attack, average of 210 HP on a team.) With so few attacks, there is no place for luck.

Under rating threshold (show) Solutions? Double or triple everyone's HP. Getting a crit wouldn't mean GG. This is an imperfect solution, as finishers like Yoshiro would become near useless. (Have them deal extra damage when foe is low health?) Lessen damage of Popo's attacks, and have him take 75% damage from physical attacks. A crit of 30 is annoying, but not game ending. Remove Popo, and those like him. Now, I'm sure some people are going to tell me, "If you don't like it, don't play it." Honestly, I DO like Kongai a great deal, and that is why I'm spending so much time trying to change things. Lemme say that one more time. I am not complaining for the sake of it, I am trying to enact change. Thanks for reading. Responses are appreciated. ~PwnageLlama

Under rating threshold (show) the odds suck! Some hits like Tafari's Poison dart) have 90% chance to hit. That'd be 10 misses in 100 attempts. Doesn't happen! It misses way more than what it should, statistically. I've had 3 misses in a row, without any debuff!
