I had problems following the directions as written... All I had to do was save the FLA file, which wasn't mentioned in the directions... After I did that, everything worked fine.

if you are getting an error you are doing SOMETHING wrong, trust me, i often spent large amounts of time looking through 1000 lines of code for the place i typed ":" instead of ";"

Sorry for the double post but a big problem could be that maybe you chose actionscript 3 instead of 2, which is quite different.

You complain across 5 posts and yet you never specify what problem you're having exactly, maybe you should try posting an error you get or something of that nature. Considered you typed it out, there's a good chance that maybe you forgot the underscore when stating the x or y coordinate.

i'll take any help i can get on how to fix this, but for now im trying a different flash game tutorial until i figure out how to fix it.

ok, this is bull. i got the hang of everything, and i just finished the backgrounds. after that - it started messing up and saying the scripts didn't work! i even tried to restart the whole thing!!!

version of cs4/cs3 doesnt matter, but most versions of cs4 come with actionscript 3 and thats a big difference in format which makes lotta problems
just google the errors that u get and u should be able to find fixes

Make sure that when you saved the .as file, you capitalized Ship. (Ship.as) That was a problem for me at first. >.< I guess it's case sensitive, which in the end is a good thing.

It works, it's just difficult. If you cannot understand this, then I suggest you end now, before you get into something bad.

NOTHING WORKS
and the in program help files are useless
i am using CS3 w/ vista
if you got it to work, can you just say what you are using and the code? thx

OK. If you guys are having problems, follow exactly what the tutorial says. Save the files as the tutorial says. And I think the main problem everyone is having is that they dont save the actionscript file. It should be saved as Ship. And the MovieClip should also be names Ship. Yes, caps do matter. Also, for the record, Im pretty sure CS3, CS4, and Flash 8 has no effect on this game. The upgrade is primarily User interface, integration with the other Adobe software, and integration with the intel processors.

Ok, this makes no sense. I did exactly as is said. Although i did not import an image because my broswer would not let me downlaod the image. But im using CS3 and I didnot get an error message. It just would not work. I would press left, right, up and down and nothing happened. Could sombody please help?
