Finally! After several hours, I got the hard badge!
I did as garfieldthemin said, and I got it on my second try. Focus on cannon/missiles, not just tacks. The super monkey with plasma vision makes thing a lot easier.

Got the hard badge on first try all i did was about 10 missile pods fully upgraded on 1st level and one fully upped super monkey, one full dart monkey, and one full tack shooter

Hard badge can be easily obtained on the third track with tacks (more the merrier), and a couple and monkeys placed correctly. Start with monkeys, place at the top of map, make sure you upgrade both, and have one aim at the last balloon, then put a monkey at the bottom near the exit area somewhere, then add a third monkey at the top, then start adding tacks in strategic corners (not at the corner but at the middle). Upgrade the tack to full. Put another monkey at the bottom just in case, and then put tacks at strategic corners (fully upgrade them of course). Remember that lvl 15-20 somewhere in there, you'll have to get a cannon, or else lead balloons will kill you.

finally i got the hard badge XD 1st track used 4 blade shooters all fully upgraded, 1 super monkey (with range only) 1 dart monkey fully upgraded, 1 monkey beacon fully upgraded, 2 missile launchers fully upgraded and LOADS of road spikes man im tired =(

omg im sick of people posting this sites... fianceexposed? wtf does that SOUND like to you! and obviously if people posted it on here, its definatly virus loaded, ALSO, you people prolly dont know the difference between system restore or system recovery, or even how to delete a virus like that from DOS, so please do the smart thing and just flag there comments and not go to that site...

I find starting with a spike-o-pult placed on the first curve/straight works best, then have 2 monkies for cover. Then get a cannon...then do what ever you want :P

Once you have upgraded your monkey beacon to monkey storm beacon you can sell it and put it right back in the place you had it before. BUT-you won't need to buy the monkey storm beacon this time, and you'll get loads of cash.

or zenodice, on the last lvl, if you have a fully upgraded monkey beacon, you can call supermonkey storms which take out all baloons except for moabs, so just wait till they break and call a storm

I can't even get past level 58. How can three maxed out super monkeys, two maxed out tacks and a maxed out cannon not beat it?

You can get the achievement easily on the first level by starting with 2 monkeys, max them out, then get about 4 cannons to help cover and max them out.
Put a maxed out tack thrower near the starting loop, then save for a super monkey to put somewhere in the middle. Max him out eventually and in the end set up a second super monkey somewhere (beef him up if you can).
Make sure to use pineapples on the blimps (MOBS?) and always have tacks selected during a round when you're not upgrading so that you can spam them if necessary.
On the last level you will likely need to spam tacks ALOT to save all 50 lives. Good luck ;)

i won normal mode just put these in
4 monkey beacon just upgrade the range of it and the speed 2 mega monkeys all upgraded
and 7 boomerang all upgraded
and make sure the beacons i near the mega monkeys
