Every strategy I find for this game contradicts what happens in gameplay, everything I try ensures you dont get perfect days or whatever goal you were trying for. Any strategy the game immediately adapts to shoot down before you even start. I've never seen a game with such an undeserving rating.

HC day 1 shop farming : all AP chance/gold starting medal, with Noble (you want to be able to use what you'll find). Finish round 1 (check your own weapon/loots, you can be lucky and start with a 5-6 slots gun), check smith, upgrade it, check, do it again until you got no money (you should be able to buy lvl5 smith AND a weapon with all gold medals + selling your stuff). Refresh his stock up to 3 times, if you don't got a 6 AP game (chance from medal), restart the game until you got one. If you got a 6 AP game and didn't find anything, refresh the game page, DONT LEAVE TO TITLE, it'll save the game with your money spent on smith. Press Continue, check smith and upgrade it again. Once you find a 5 slot gun (except the shortbow), you can give it a try ! If you find a 6 slot weapon, i think you can take it whatever it is ! (i want to even try a 6 slots shortbow :D ). CAUTION : you can loose your brain and/or eyes doing this !

Thanks Drunkenshrew, i've found this too on some guides, very rare chance to get 6 slots, i've saw a few 5 slots, but only one 6 atm !
Got all non hardcore medals, now i got a new "fun" game : end of day one with my hunter, i buy a smith, check his items, buy smith 2, check his items, buy a smith 3, check his items, buy smith 3, check his items, buy smith 4, check his items, buy smith 5, check his items, refresh his stock, check his items, refresh his stock, check his items, back to title, continue, i buy a smith, check his items, buy smith 2, check his items, buy a smith 3, check his items, buy smith 3, check his items, buy smith 4, check his items, buy smith 5, check his items, refresh his stock, check his items, refresh his stock, check his items, back to title...
:P
Just found a 5 sock standard pistol... i didn't buy it because i want a bowgun... i'm now wandering if i shouldn't do this with a Noble to be able to use any weapon i could find with 5 or 6 slots ! :p

@Galinka - All types of weapons can have a maximum of 6 slots. But such weapons are very rare. Furthermore it is possible to find the gravity gun with a reloading mod in it (it is impossible to attach a reloading mod later on the GG).
Shotguns with 2 or 3 mods function very well. In my opinion a shotgun with anti-armor, leech and damage functions very well against all kinds of monsters. It is better to use your Fire Rate and Autofire mods for other weapons.

so its been now 8 levels with a capable skill acquired at lvl 3 and i have yet to have dr holiday offered or acquired on the sheriff. its not possible to do well with that class without that skill. suggestion is for at least your hero character, provide a class skill tree and let you see the skills you can get, then select one to focus before ever acquiring it. because 8 levels with no dr holiday is really ridiculous. i dont mind the randomness for your team, but it doesnt offer all that much customization when you are limited by choices (or lack thereof).

I played this game when it first came out, literally less then a week after it was first released. At the time I had no idea what Elona meant, or what it had any affiliation with. But now, after several years have passed, I have played Elona and can say that it's a fantastic game. I recommend it to all of you, for it's a great time to be had for all. My only warning- Watch out for Aliens.

In my last post, I stated my frustration at the weapons and how hard it is to consistently get better weapons. I realize something that I didn't then: getting higher grade weapons isn't "better" and it certainly isn't the key to success like in most games. For example, a hunting rifle will soon become an assault rifle, which functions very differently. You can actually get quite far with low grade weapons by applying your funds in smarter ways, like allies and strong sandbags. Still, this wasn't made especially clear at any point, so I feel at least a little of that frustration is just, but this isn't really the horrible game I made it out to be last time.

The random items are really annoying. I need better weapons to keep going, but I can only use ones that I have the proper skill level for, and I'll have to save up to get the good weapons. Is that not bad enough? Why do the shops have absolutely random things? There should either be better algorithms behind the randomization so I'm always getting the weapons I can use AND afford, or just do like Diablo and give me every weapon in the shop from the start. That way I can buy what I need when I need it instead of staring at a store full of Level 6 Big Guns on day 2. I know there's a cheatthat allegedly fixes it, but I still see a Grenade Launcher that no one in my team can use. The Recruit for hire can, but if I hire him, I won't be able to afford the gun. >_< This is definitely the most frustrating game I've ever played.

I don't get it, why is it so hard ? it's from far the hardest game of this genre i've played ... everything looks normal but i really think the game needs some balance ... or i just don't get it.

It would be nice to have a stat telling you the speed the weapon's projectiles travel at and being able to upgrade it. It would make precision aiming much easier.

@archangel07 I find the shotgun to be the best gun. Tips: Doc Holliday is the best upgrade early on. Eggs are a great investment early on. Don't worry about buying weapons; most you'll get are from drops. Make sure to get a teammate early on, as it's more cost effective than a henchman. Buy a house; get a second henchman, and continue on, buying chickens. Repairmen are good too, but only if you can afford it. For shotguns, constantly hold space, so that you don't have reloading gaps after 8 shots (it reloads between shots now). Good luck!

Maybe I just suck but I find the difficulty makes this game hard to enjoy. The penalty for hiring a henchman is too much and the cost of repairing the walls alone takes most of the money I gain so that I have none left to upgrade the defenses. I am playing on the easiest difficulty with mods enabled and still have to rely on pure luck to get past stages. The shotgun was useful in the beginning but I find it can't handle the mobs of enemies that you soon encounter. Like I said though, maybe I just suck. This the first tower defense game I have played in a long time.

Way too small... how does anybody actually hit anything? Zooming in just pixellates everything and makes it even worse. 1/5

Sheriff seems like the best main character. The knockback and slow combination is really powerful, especially with the shotgun pellets.

I like this game but only give it a 3.5/5 because when you die you have to go back to the title screen which isnt cool and I also think you should be able to put in partner preferences like male or female and class, i hope these are added in a sequel.
