The way the game is sizing on my screen, it seems like it's requiring a 16:9 or wider display. My 4:3 display is getting the horizontal scrollbar treatment. There's no real reason everything couldn't fit on the 4:3 screen, though. Seems like a minor design oversight to me.
Understood that this is pre-alpha. Good concepts here. Keep refining!

the game does'nt load, I'm stuck on the first screen (left it for a solid hour and still can't interact with the menu).
"loading map assets" is written in the top right corner.

One of the nicest advertisements I ever played/saw. Wishlisted it on Steam as soon as I got the popup. Great job with the game design!

Also, Before one combat I got a notice that there was a cave, and then I got two incredibly difficult combats in a row, followed by the combat I was already going to take. Extremely frustrating, specially because I had already reached the ocean segment of the game.

Hey! Really love this game, but one main criticism: Wizard is by far the least fun class to play. It relies so much on luck from the beginning.
I would either recommend that there be an ability (maybe with the risk of health) to convert a card to a match, or to guarantee that when you cycle an enemy's card, it turns to a different suit.
At the very least, would recommend doing this on at least Easy difficulty. I'm open to suggestions, but even for a game that is RNG-based, Wizard is way too reliant on stupidly-good odds to make for a fun game.

I think it would be really cool to permanently unlock certain modifiers for runs, it's frustrating getting to start a run with a cool modifier you're excited for then dying before you can make use of it, or even see any effect, and have to play through world 1 in order to get another chance at it. Honestly I think starting with several characters unlocked and each of them unlocks an additional character, as well as the ability to permanently unlock world modifiers would make the unlock system more interesting

I love this game, reminds me of slay the spire. The only thing I don’t like so much is that it is bit too long for a rogue-lite. Other similar games like slay the spire or FTL are shorter. The last world is completely unnecessary. The monsters have way too much hp, the fights star feeling very repetitive (this already happens by the end of world 3 to be honest) and the fun of rugue-lites is gone. What I mean is that in rogue-lites the part were to gather equipement/cards/crew to create viable loadout is the most fun part of the game. I feel like that if you get to world 3 you already have your loadout. At best you are gonna pick another weapon to make your damage somewhat higher, but you will probably not switch for example to poison/anemic build if you haven’t by now. Its just world 3 with bigger numbers.
tl;dr Great game, but I would cut the 4th world

personally, i think "the prince" character is really too hard to control efficiently. even in the easy mode, i cannot reach the second world. anyone has the same idea ??

I'm currently having that issue whenever I die that the game just freezes and I have to reload it. If you could fix that, that would be great. Apart from that a nice game

So I really liked the game after "win the game" on easy using three different characters. A few minor complaints: 1. it takes 4+ hours to beat the game, i.e. too long 2. not rewarding enough for winning the game. perhaps something permanent for the characters would be nice. for instance, if I beat the game on easy using Knight, I get a perma reward for Knight which I can use on medium/hard difficulty, and if beat the game on medium I get another perma reward!

Its a fun game but I felt like there was very little long term rewards. You unlock bonus options but only for the next run? The only real unlocks were the starting character. I dont feel like I wasted my time playing the game but I also don't feel like I would play it again in its current state.
This game concept could be really cool with some tweaking though.

'When hit' should do what it says. If I poison and curse you I didn't hit you. Please either change it to when say when damaged or make it mean what it says. If I put my sword in my bag, how could I hit the damn egg?

@mdity when you use the teleport scroll, on the next move on the map you can go to any tile up or down, just click it

if you start the game, and consequently, the tutorial, while the settings are open, you can't close the settings to continue on with the game, so you either have to reload or skip tutorial. please make settings open and close above all other windows, and the button active at all times, too :p

Something seems to be wrong about the Emissary of Spades (encountered at 4-4). He can Block 51 without any card requirements (meaning stunning doesn't keep him from blocking). Despite all the damage sponging, I got him down to 20% health, but the Amplify mechanic meant he cleanly 2-shotted me. That can't be right for a normal enemy encounter - I think that move needs something like "2 spades" as a requirement, or at the very least "1 card" as a cost.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
too bad the AI cheats; every hand of 3 cards i get a deuce; odds are that i should get 1 deuce every 4 draws, but i beat the odds by far; too bad i can't bet on my odds and win some cash.

The game really could use some sort of card library - a collection of items seen, as well as a bestiary. It would give a good sense of progression beyond runs. Accessing the casino games from the main menu would also offer a nice change of pace.

@OrangeChus To perform a Perfect Kill, you need to kill an enemy but not overkill. For example, if the monster has 10 HP left, you need to attack him for exactly 10, to perform a Perfect Kill.

Wizard absolutely needs retweaking. Tough enough having 2-card draws (even with Wizard Sleeves) but to require Pairs too? And sadly, Bag of Tricks has proven more a nuisance than useful.
Personally, I'd believe that 'Any Cards' at half Attack, with big bonuses for Pairs, 3oaK etc. would work better. It would at least stop her looking like a sitting duck most of the time.
That said, have really enjoyed the concept of the game, and hope to get through all heroes one day. Peace!

Pretty nice. But needs some tweaks in difficulty of fights. Also, game kinda gets monotonous after a few hours ! But, what can we ask from a free game on kong. !
Looking forward to your release on Steam. Sad to see that it won't be for mac. :(

huntress, world 2, easy. 6 battles back to back with 2 being elite and NO alternative path after the first battle (i didn't buy the map view upgrade) and finally i died. Question :how is this still easy? or does the game penalized the player and forcefully stop the game at world 2 on easy mode?
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I only found one chance to increase my health. However, when I ran into a thief, he was able to hit me for five hp (plus steal a chip) automatically every turn. Now, I am almost dead. :-(

Is the additional 100 max life in easy mode the only change that was made? I know the previous update changed the frequency of some things, but I'm finding shops are only selling 2 food at a time, gems drop more frequently than food, and the random events trend more towards gems, pick from two things, and coins, but only 1 of the maybe 20 encounters so far has been free food.
I know this isn't luck based, it's all RNG'd but some runs through genuinely do feel like you have the worst draws possible. I'm still struggling to get past world 3 on knight or rogue, but that might just be the "luck" I'm having.

Amazing game. Really unique and challenging. I love the variety of play styles, but some of the game mechanics ruin them. Amplify makes it very difficult to play unless you use a specific style. Most of the more combo driven play styles are useless past world 2. Overall it's an amazing game at this stage of development. I would love more customizable difficulty options (disable amplify option). Also, I noticed once that a pathway to chips (top) was blocked by a mage tower below it, I couldn't click it. Thanks for making a really unique game.

Fun, unique, and thought provoking (as in how to minmax, not philosophy). I wish more games are like this.
Easy 5/5, would give 6/5 if I can.

Hey!! Please also fix this overlooking coding - used Ace (only) on card with Perfect-Kill effect against 1-HP enemy... it flagged 11 instead 1, so i didn't get the perfect-kill bonus... so you owe me one bonus gem. =/

Found a highlighting bug, explanation in image description. https://imgur.com/a/JlEpvSJ
I would like to have buttons for top/mid/bottom lane choosing (or left/mid/right from the heroes perspective). Maybe adding shortcuts 1-3 for quick lane choices.
Btw amazing work on this! Very innovative gameplay.

Hey, please fix the cheating "Flee Away" formula - it said "exactly 31" but i did calculated both results of "Ace" which be 1 or 11 either... and both results are OVER 31. I have the pictures to prove you just in case you don't believe me.
The "exactly 31" requirement means they can use any cards in their hand to do it, and they don't need to use all their cards. They will pick and choose which ones add up to 31.

Bug: I was using Knight and reached 4-11, then for no reason my character changed into Huntress with initial setup (as if the game restarted from the beginning, except I was still in world 4)

Freezes completely just after the loading screen. Says "Loading map assets..." in top right corner. Left corner says "FPS:2" and all controls unresponsive. Using Chrome on Windows 10

No fun. Easy mode is nowhere near easy the monsters are way too hard. Can't make it past the first castle. Why did you mess with the game, it sucks now.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I'm out. without an easy run, this runs on too much luck... the way the paths get laid out, the draw of the cards... I didn't even get a pair drawn when playing wizard and lost on my first enemy... twice!
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Removed my earlier complements about the upgrade. The more I play, the more I miss the old version. Too many changes made it complex... too many variables to consider bog down the game play -- and then once you figure out the best strategy, there's still no way to win. Great effort with the update, but roll it back and then just work in a few of the best updates.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Good game but it could use something to carry over after death like for example there is a coin that is not so easy to get but once you get it you can spend it on permeant upgrades
In a perma-death roguelike that has a balanced end-game, we don't like when your save starts out with nerfs that you have to grind to remove, so we probably won't do this.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
It's a good concept, but I can only speak that far of it. I can only speak that far of it because I have only reached World 2 twice, both as a Knight and both on flukes. One thing I find curious is the description for the difficulties. Hard, the default, says that Monsters have more hidden cards, Medium says that Monsters have fewer hidden cards, but there is no option for an easy with Monsters having none. I found the experience to be more tedious than fun
