there seems to be a big memory leak that makes my computer crash over and over on this game. Sad, because I really like playing it

I was going to deleted this website from my bookmark after so many disappointment from its selection for months, but this game saved it. I look forward to playing this on steam. Hopefully, I can pay for this.

Major lag on chrome and firefox. My mac is not a 'gaming' computer by any means, but it handles these kinds of games fine.

This is really good. I had an idea for the steam release. It would be cool if you could play coop, and then you could have support classes that focuses on healing or buffing your party. Might be a bit hard to add, but might be worth a thought at least :)
Technically you get stronger by unlocking more heroes, which gives you more options available for the Challenge Runs. It's a very high level meta progress.

2nd run, chose to play with modifier giving me +25 chips and bottled shop. I'm prompted to upgrade my card draw at start, but no indication that I have NO items and must use the shop immediately. Engage in first battle with no way to win, ofc can't use my bottled shop in battle, forced to start new game with no more modifier. Gotta learn the hard way sometimes...

Sorceress is weeeeird. She has an easy scaling damage option and a block, which is normally the ticket to success, but she's so hungry for resources that early-game survival is way harder with her than with other such characters. IDK what to think about her.
You probably deleted your local storage at some point! I am sorry this happened but it's typical browser game problems. There is a cheat to unlock the heroes if you want to restore your progress. We're on discord and happy to help: https://discordapp.com/invite/nBfhQ3v
There was a bottled shop in your inventory, you were supposed to use that to buy items. Sorry it's not very intuitive, we'll fix that with a popup in a future update.

This game is amazing, I could spend hours just playing different combinations of characters, items, and modifiers, although some are easier to get farther in the game with(my average is 2-5 but i got to 4-3 with knight and sustained block), I'm still discovering new things, even weeks after I started playing it, such as that some cards scrap for food, and you have to fight a battle to even scrap them.

Thanks, your solution worked for me and the game is now running. Thanks a lot for the great game and the quick support :)

I have problems loading the game in chrome too, 20 min. and still won´t finish the last bit of the loading :( reloading did not help either. Worked without problems for the last weeks and I did not change any settings in the game or my browser

I have the same issue as tmarmo, have logged in everyday for the last couple of months but today on resarting I got a Poker Quest Console, build 5984 :: Press ' to close the console" I closed the console and was met with a blank white screen which I could click the settings icon but not restart or interact with anything else

Playsaurus, did you try to sneak up an update? Because as of May 15 the game's broken.
In any case, nice, enjoyable game. It would be more of a rogue-like if finishing the game gave the players some upgrades that stick, at least after the character unlocks: an extra max life here, a couple extra max energy there, a bonus to church bonuses, a couple percent discount at the shop, a point of armor or a tiny bit of extra damage - that sort of incentive to keep leveling up. Thanks for the great gameplay!

I lost a teleport scroll because I used it immediately after purchasing from the travelling merchant. When I used the scroll everything looked right but when I clicked the go button on the treasure I wanted, it took me to the fight at my original destination.

ngl I almost left when I read "you can spend energy to stun your opponent and you can spend gems to draw more cards" because dear god that phrasing sounds way too close to one of THOSE games

Love the game.
Unexpectedly good strategic thinking for the battles, plus it is well-balanced.
Only suggestion would be to be able to sell useless equipment for some chips.

Why would Curse hurt me when I -don't- use the cursed gear??? It makes no sense. Curse should do nothing if you avoid the cursed gear.

finally beat all heroes on hard, the stupid bard took FOREVER waiting for the RNG to spit out a winning combo. feel like this game starts to feel extremely grindy after a while, but the core and character design are all so solid it seems a shame to "waste" it on a rogue-like. Does the steam version have any plans to have an actual story, benefits to leveling beyond unlocking new characters, and the possibility to continue beyond the current 4 worlds?
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Stupid daily run. "Unprepared" no equipment, but bottle shop. Pop the shop to start, only equipment to damage need at least 31 to activate, means using a gem every time to hit. Need to double upgrade cards drawn to have a chance to hit.
Some players actually prefer these kinds of "impossible" daily runs, it's more about seeing how far you can get compared to everyone else, not necessarily winning.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
With that said, given the mechanics of the game, I'm not sure there are many ways you could increase the win rate and the win consistency without taking away the challenge, which is what makes the game so much fun.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
So, I absolutely love the game. I have wins on all characters on easy, and half of them on hard currently. Sitting at level 17. Like many, I would like to call the win rates into question. There are certain combos of modifiers that work very well with certain characters, and some perks that make it almost laughably easy to win with the right equipment (sustained block, curse mastery, and no poison/flame decay to name a few). For a vast majority of runs, however, the viability for a win is entirely dependent on finding select pieces of gear and consumables. Even then, I am guessing the 5% win rate relies on games where people refreshed to reset battles that didn't go favorably. I would guess on some characters, the win rate would be closer to .5%-1% with no resets involved due to the randomness of item, perk, and food availability. The game remains incredibly fun, but even knowing valid strategies, any sort of win consistency is laughable without either the right modifiers or refreshes.
Join us on Discord, and you can talk about the strategies with some of the players who are actually able to consistently win their games on Easy / Medium. Hard is not intended to be consistent, but Easy definitely is, if you are good enough. Discord link: https://discordapp.com/invite/nBfhQ3v

I really like this game! My only issue might not even be with the game itself but I'm not sure: it slows down a lot to the point where it takes maybe ten seconds for the animation of the cards to go from me clicking them to flying down to the card and then activating. Ive tried everything I can think of but it still gets so slow that I cant even play. When will this be released on Steam? I have it on my wishlist. Cant wait!

also Devs, please respond to my previous comment. Whenever I criticise a game the Devs normally don't respond(even if its new and open to improvement) and I really like this game. I know you guys have said that you can consistently win, but the community doesn't agree. 5% winrate with most classes other than knight. Think about that for a second.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
The Devs:The Knight has 30% winrate, lets nerf it down to 5%, along with the other classes.
Dear Devs, I wonder how you can think THAT 5% IS A GOOD WINRATE? If you're worried about a particular class being too easy in comparison to other classes, and if the average winrate for them is low you should buff them instead of nerfing the other one. You should be able win consistently in a rogue-like once you know how to play. Take Slay the Spire for example, once I got the hang of it I was able to win consistently. 5% winrate is in no way acceptable for a rogue-like game.
A 5% win-rate means a lot more than "you win 5% of the time". It's more like 90% of players don't win much at all because they aren't experienced enough yet, and 10% are winning lots of their games. We care about making the game winnable but still challenging for the most experienced players. Currently, at least on Easy, the game is very consistently winnable, if you are experienced enough.
In fact, read the comment below, where Mastermeda just mentioned how consistently they can win with Druid and Huntress, even in Hard. They have an issue with Wizard, but we also know that hero is also winnable (she's just tricky to play)
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Hey Playsaurus! After giving the game a couple more tries, I actually think its very winnable now, but with the right roles. Not sure if its just me but I find that the Druid and the Hunteress to be the most OP and easily winnable roles even in Hard mode. But in other roles like the Wizard, I really struggled alot and it boils down to heavy RNG (by hoping the replaced cards give you something favourable). Another slight discomfort is the op scroll of greed which can literally change games. I had 400 gold at one point with 2 scrolls. Mixed feelings about this, even tho its a rogue-like I feel that landing on this scroll doesn't feel like I have improved my skill in the game, I was just super lucky. Maybe if every game had a guaranteed presence of 1-2 scrolls, then going out of my way to visit all shops to find it would make it justifiable as a skill/strategy. Just my 2cents. Keep up with the great game!

i love it so much! Very nice improvements! The daily runs are so satisfaying (like, see here people have gone, feel super awesome when you've been farer than most...) Thank you devs!

Build path to win the game as Wizard: 1) Get another item good for attacking (Knight Sword), 2) Get a stun item and upgrade it (Uses food or energy), 3) Upgrade Gems as much as you can (around 2 points in card drawing can help too) | Final boss hint: Hes overpowered as heck, draws on every hit, heals 80hp and all ailments, poisons for 50 after CHARGING (yes this carries over rounds, you can't stop it) just 25 cards. How to win: 1) Draw cards with Gems, 2) Hit him with all you got, 3) Stun him before he can use all his cards, 4) Rinse and repeat. Potions to help refresh cooldowns may help too. Aim to collect these items and collect as much chips as possible since day 1 (you will not have enough)!!
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
The game is incredibly fun (at the start), but also incredibly tough, way too tough. Too much boils down to RNG (Casino, item placement, drawing of cards) and there is no room for error to be made. Even on easy mode and cheating via export/import of saves, it took HOURS and tons of retries to even just beat the game. A lot of enemies and items are unbalanced. E.g. The final boss setup is too brutal, if you don't tailor your build for it since the very first step, its impossible to win. I was so disappointed when I first made it all the way to the final boss in the first playthrough. But if you have an very unbalanced upgraded stun item (the one that uses energy or food), you can win the whole game and it makes the final boss a breeze, but without it, its near impossible. Felt very unsatisfied that theres nothing at the end and the reward was a mere 50xp that I got nothing to show for. Very anti-climatic and frustrating to play through after a while.
We're not going to make the game any easier, because the game is very winnable on easy (without cheating!) if you get good enough. I think you have a good point about the win XP, we can probably give you a big bonus to XP, at least on your first win.

I was thinking that there should either be NPCs that give you quests like "kill 2 kobolds" or "move 10 spaces without losing 50 health" and they could give you chips or a free upgrade or a coupon for a store. Also will we be able to sync the accounts because I want this on steam but don't want to lose my progress?
That quest idea sounds fun! We actually had something like it in mind but haven't got around to it yet.
You won't lose progress on the Steam version, but you will also be able to play here - we'll update Kongregate with the full version too.

"This change was made because the Knight had a ~30% win rate while all the other heroes were closer to 5%." Because getting beyond world 1 reliably is undesirable.

How to unequip an item? I'm going to fight an enemy with Curse and want to put some of the equipped items to my bag so that less items could be cursed.
