Having played just a little bit, my first impression is that the enemy always have the advantage. When I attack they start with 16 odd units while I have 0, that's fine they're already there. But when I'm attacked they also start with 16 units and just walk straight in and kill my little hero and the two units that has managed to spawn...
I'll play more and see how it goes.

yeah Scott2333444 in cave 5 no1 can complete that cave they have goblin. my special card die just 1 hit all my monster die that goblin have damage 99999999 and have 99999999 heal i hate that cave impossible to complete that cave who have tip to complete cave 5 tell me.

heres a quick win first you must sure that you have : fire ball spell and 2 cards of minions .
1. wait 30 seconds then use fireball spell on their hero . then he comes at you and then after he comes press attack ( foward ) then press foward every 8seconds

1 more tip to upgrade and you not have more money to upgrade all upgrade your strong card to get more money fast and charge

Is there anyway to save? I've tried twice now to save, then tried using continue and nothing happens. Or does it only save if you download the game?

Ahh I have seen alot of ways you can screw yourself over in the 5th cave because of that stupid semi transparent Goblin. First of all, you can't kill it, and it one shots everything, including your castle, luckily it stays put until your units either get too close or it gets hit with an attack. My stratagy there was to used all the ranged except the Succubus and the cannons, I have seen an occasional glitch where an enemy gets blasted all the way back to my castle, and that Goblin is no exception. the remaining units are just trash, and for spells i have the freezing, Lightning, healing, strength. This will basically keep pushing the transparent goblin back so your units can keep wailing on the castle without worry of getting killed so often
