My basic strategy: At the start, hit your enemy hero with a Comet to get him to attack you. Let your heroes battle it out whilst piling on troops and spells. When the hero is taken out, storm the castle!

krogrun, the trick is not to let it hit any of your units or hit only the cnnon fodders. use magic cannons, sucubbuses and mermaids in 1 pack, those have ranged knockback type attack and really good damage. use goblins and/or zombies to keep the enemy away from your ranged units.

WARNING : I beat 5 cave using : Taurus, Phantom, Goblin, Dwarf and Zombie. NO SPELLS, just wait at the beginning for about 1,5 minute and attack then :) It was really funny, that this team won that :)
Thanks Snejki! that worked the best for me, really easy. I just kept my Hero back to keep him from getting wiped out.

it's hard at first but it gets real easy after u like beat your first journey b/c u get all the cards u had b4. it becomes too easy then. but still totally epic. 5/5!

too easy... some units are completly useless, including the titan units.
a tip for the last cave: dont rush at the start and dont agro the goblin boss with any spell. wait for the spawn for all your foces and keep them close to eachother while youre advancing forward. have at least 3 stacks of ranged units and you simply cant lose.

if were working on perfecting the game, id say have the hero not be affected by the forward/retreat buttons. anyone agree? i almost never want him to move with the group.

Lol I beat cave of trial 5 with only the Hercules' strength(Yes, that's how it's supposed to be spelled) and Lightning bolt!:D

@Flareburn - this entire game was excessively fun, and with the exception of Cave of Ordeals 4/5 it was easy too :).
Phoenix-row attack, Meteor, cannons, and dragon-riders. Those basically were all it took to subdue everything - from there it was just general detritus and strong fighters. Awesome game!

When you hear the revenge wave, have everyone retreat almost to your castle. While pelting the enemy with comet arrow rain and meteor. Its worked for me and I haven't lost yet.

Massive revenge waves + knockback/up makes end waves of final castles retarded. Apparently the designer has yet to run into a fight that doesn't work with his claims about regen for your units. It shouldn't take 10-15 battles on a single castle trying a new strategy each time to win the battle. Thats just bad game design.

o and bammers i had same problem...just get succubus, witch, mermaid and centaurs and the range will keep hitting him and he wont get a chance to atack because he cant be killed lol so pure range and distraction on him is key to winning :)..so pretty much those 4 range are better then all the big boss things.

I beat the game muwahahahaaha, i have all cards all spells and i have all 4 dragon boss things with me at once!! i am..............untopable!!!!!!!!!!....yaaaaa and a good team for the valley is succubus, mermaid, thunder witch, centaur ranger things lol, then u pick something else kuz those 4 are murderous at once :) wow i typed alot lol :)..consider it a speech...and again...hahahahahahaahhaahahah :)

Okay starting out as a 3/5
+1 for stagtegy
- for Ai advantage in battle ( it is REALLY unfair how they can auto spawn 3k of all there units when you start hitting them )+1 for bonus after game goals ( the caves ) + 1 for diffrent choices ( nation wise ) so I give it a 5/5 becuse it gets another point for the epicness in the explosionsions the battle

This game totally rocks except for the weird insubstantial goblin in cave nomboure five. Even my fully upgraded phoenix couldn't kill it. Can some one PLEASE tell me what to do about that little (censored).

Great game and is nearly perfect. That being said, revenge waves are highly unbalanced at the end of the game and arguing that skill cards make up for it doesn't really cut it by the last couple of castles. Would have been a 5/5, but in the end the lack of endgame balance and the designer's own arrogance and refusal to listen to comments of the players kills the game.

CoT 5 would be fair if the boss didn't teleport to midfield during combat. Maybe even triple his speed and he would still be fair, but with him avoiding your entire army it's just cheap.
