This might be a bug, but for dodge practice, you don't need to time your dodge right before the attack. All you have to do is keep spamming the corresponding arrow key several times after the dodge and you still get perfect

For dodge practice, dodge right as he starts actually moving in to hit you to get perfects. Dodge is a really good skill and getting perfects with it will make you a lot better.
