iudex, yeah, you didn't do it in time. It's very, very particular about the time limits in that quest sequence.
And yes, it's annoying that autopay resets, as does your medical use parameter.

Judex, the Caravan X thing you described is not a bug. Caravan X exists, and is an active part of the game world, so if you can handle it early, you can kill it early, and it's the only caravan you can attack without hurting your DP rep. The only real bug with that scenario is that if you kill Caravan X early, the DP leader doesn't immediately recognize it, and asks you to go do it again. Just leave the city after accepting that quest for a sec, then come back and enter the DP base, and he'll give you credit for it. So its not broken, just a little illogical.

Shill, go to the map travel window and find the wrench icon on the bottom right of the screen. The options menu is opened that way.

Visitant,
Good advice, but I usually hire someone immediately, before leaving Poca Cosa. The mercs there are better than the ones available in Caganel and Drushlak, anyway.
Also, never bother with knives or swords. They're dead weight, and almost always useless. You just DON'T want to be in melee range of your opponents. NEVER. I tried creating a 10 Strength 10 Agility main character to see if a high strength value and lots of speed would make katana use profitable, but it just doesn't work out past the PC-C-D triangle. Once you can safely travel to the first city that sells grenades, they're always a better choice for secondary weaponry.

Few glitches found. I killed Caravan X before getting the mission to. Also, I killed the robber's hideout by just killing the first two robbers outside of it. Then I head back toward another town and on the way, the message window keeps appearing randomly saying Congratulations you defeated the robbers!. Also, I tried doing the fake ID, but it just says I lost the the game and should restart a saved one. Any ideas?

I'd recommend having at least 1 helper with you by the time you leave caganel the first time. The first time you fight robbers with a knife/sword give that to the underling. In the early game, always target opponents with weapons first then target those that are unarmed. If firing at long range be sure to switch from "Quick shot" to "Aimed Shot" to improve your chances of hitting the enemy. Hope that helps.

ned help on bein successful!
may sound noobish, but, can anyone give me a strategy fot caravneer?
i mean, u do the 1st triangle, but halfway through; like a maasive attack of robbers! can someone give me some advice?

BootieBadAzz, as easy as it would be to take a cheap shot at your forum name with regard to your complaints about how "retarded" this game is, I won't.
You can change both your caravan's map travel speed and the game's combat speed. Setting both to "High" will make the experience much quicker.

too much time? that game is retarded! why does the travelling take HOURS? why does the fighting take hours TOO?!
Theres too much time wasted in doing... NOTHING!!!

by the way, yamiro i did get a perfect dead center at the town.welll.... not perfectly center but at least hit it w/o changing my course=D it takes practise and for those who miss way off, u need to go for geography lessons
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
wakaka it takes time to get used to it but try not to change course or u will end up stuck somewhere in the desert. dun care abt the economy. its totally screwed up and they change their products from time to time. if u think u shud let the town restock for awhile then move on to other triangles.for tips pls look at previous posts. they contain some really good information that u dun wanna miss =D
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
dekari you will never get a perfect dead center hit on a town. intelligence is vet doctor and mechanic. which heals you your animals and your carts/vehicles every hour by a small amount. it's not useless it saves you with enough of it.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
LOL wants intelligence for in this game. the only thing ive seen it do is slightly screw up your map calculations.....so u end up being like a couple miles away form the target but u still get there....i awlays set it to one

This is a great game, one of the few that I’ve actually continued to play even after getting the badge. :p Seriously tho, there’s more than meets the eye to this game. The economy is actually pretty fragile. I found myself making some mistakes and then having to literally bring towns back from the dead by re-stocking them with certain amounts of their Need items. Hint to those paying attention: In general, do not completely buy out entire stocks of items from town Markets. They actually USE those quantities you see in the Buy lists for their outgoing Productions, even though they are up for sale. I can’t wait to see future Adventure/RPG’s from SFG. :)

Alex, the game is vague, but what you're supposed to do is visit either Qubba (for the "evil" route) or Verdammter Platz (for the "good" route). I recommend good, not because it's especially interesting, but because the evil route is exceedingly easy and short.
Enter the Desert Patrol HQ in Verdammter Platz and the main quest line kicks off.

so do i get new missions and stuff or am i on my own after i talk with the sherriff? he still advises me to use the first triangle and not go past drushlak and stuff but i already have numerous times even up to nirgendwo. i've made the triangle about 5 times already too.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
mrpockets, do you mean Intelligence? Points added to Intelligence increase your non-combat skills - Mechanic, Doctor and Veterinary.
So, basically, Intelligence is pointless in this game, from a mechanics standpoint. Reduce it to 1 to create an optimal main character.
In a better game, it would alter quest paths and dialog options, but this is just one of the many areas where Caravaneer falls short of a commercial product, not that it needs to reach that level.

Lukarejec,
It's painfully slow in the beginning, but you can speed it up a few ways. Create a character with a 7 or higher in Agility. This will give you at least 6km walking speed. Now hire only mercs with 6km+ walking speed. There are two in the Poca Cosa - Caganel - Drushlak triangle. Once you've completed that first run of PC-C-D, you should be able to easily afford a horse and cart in Poca Cosa. Buy them. Sell all other animals and stick with horses alone until you get vehicles. Expand your trade to Okaidi, hire Pakuna Whirlwindhorse, arm your team as well as possible, and make a bee line for Qubba. In the Qubba region you're safe from robbers, so build up your cash supply and get vehicles (and fuel in Hara) ASAP. Once your carvan's travel speed is 15km+, travel is a breeze. Also, set the map travel speed to FAST in the options.

[part 2]
Soon, Qubba will produce Jewelry. Wait for it to hit around 800 dollars per piece. Buy it all. Find a city that wants it for around 4000 dollars. Sell it all. It should immediately devalue back to 800. Buy it again from the city you just sold it to. Now find another city willing to buy for 4000. Repeat until you have trouble finding buyers, then move back to the gold trade so Qubba can produce more Jewelry. I'm sitting on 30 million at the moment, which is both ludicrous and a measure of how bored I am at work.
This is, of course, a bug. You shouldn't be able to buy back the Jewelry immediately for such a huge discount. The economic system in this game is fragile. But, it helps with fund-raising, and you can do it at any point in the game.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
For anyone struggling to raise those millions, or unsatisfied with how slow the Alcohol trade is, try this out for size (it's almost certainly a bug exploit):
[part 1]
Get plenty of fuel barrels. Fill up in Hara. Travel to the two far NE settlements. Sell the Fuel (leave yourself enough to travel back to Hara) and buy all of their gold. If they don't have gold, wait a day or two after selling the fuel and they will. Now travel back to Qubba and sell it all. Back to Hara to refuel.
Repeat.

Thanks fugori. I found the thread on the forum and got the information there as well. I'd already looked at the manual but in the wrong section; items, instead of cargo or something.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Tuyop, Caganel is directly west of Poca Cosa, where the game begins, 258 degrees.
Primus, go to your complete cargo list and find the manual. You can use it from there and it will open up, allowing you to thumb through it page by page with a magnifying glass thing. Look for a section near the end on commands. All you need to know is the shutdown sequence. Unfortunately, though it tells you how to launch, you can't launch the missiles at Qubba or anywhere else. All that happens when you do is you lose (you're caught because of the commotion).
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Alright, instead of fuel being a commodity it should be like, an option at a dealership or something. Consider adding gas stations.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
What's the command for the missile system? I've got the book but I don't know what to do with it. I've already restarted the game after I couldn't get back into the base with the manual. Grr!

happywalnut,
If you shuttle from Fort Goks to Qubba with alcohol, sell it and buy shoes, then go to Smerd or Masriah and sell them, back to Fort Goks again, you should build up money fairly quickly. Medicines seem to be i demand in Qubba as well.

hey i attacked a caravan and im basically a criminal. so i figured that if im a criminal i might as well side withe the robbers. and i approached the governer, who gave me a mission to assassinate the leader of desert patrol. after that i failed in doing so and i cant ever go back. is there a way out?
