Game is to hard in the one aspect where you will be doing perfectly fine on a quest and then one wave just annihilates you.

Eh. Same old game really. Sure, some features were added, but it didn't really *add* anything to the game. Making a game more and more complex isn't adding value. How about some innovation or a solid story? It's a good time sink. The game hasn't really evolved at all, just adding more stuff to make it look like value is added.
However, it does what it does well. The bad part is that 90% of the game is the same as the last version of the game, which was 90% the same as the one prior, and so on.
undefined, you have skill as a designer and I'll give you that any day of the week. I just would love to see something more... substantial from one with your skill. Perhaps partnering with someone to get some fresh ideas?

For all the critics out there, keep in mind that we play these kinds of flash games for FREE. Appreciate what you get, and respect the effort that the developers make.

Leaving a match causes a failure? ... More negative points. Wow, this game has a lot of bad quirks for passive players. ... I really hope it doesn't win the monthly contest just because of a few rabid fanboys of the series.

Can't adjust quality outside of combat -_- Just one of many tiny flaws that hurts the game and prevents a high score.

this is annoying: it says "recommended hero type: (1 of 5 pictures)"...but NEVER tells you what OTHER element is ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL! and the hero types available for hire are RANDOM...and you need to raise your leadership skill to be able to hire more heros-at teh expense of other skills that are also essential...forget it. good try, but much to complicated and frustrating.
the only new thing i like is having 3 types of basic units: footmen, archers, and mages. archers were too hard to obtain in previous protectors.

there is a glitch. if you buy a item. then exit to menu then load the saved game you will have the amount of money you had before you bought the item. but you still have the item

anyone know if stuff like debuff and poison is stackable? i don't want to give everyone the same skill if it only works the first time.

Thanks for making this game, it's awesome ! However, I get "NAN experience" (zero) on every level ... fixing this issue would be greatly appreciated ;)

All the other protectors were so much harder and actually required skill and strategy, but now it's just spam mages and farm for cash and exp :[

really like the game - many new features! But one thing i absolutely hate! There seems to be a random map generator (if you play a map various times its not always the same) - thats ok, since it guarantees that it doesnt get boring that quickly. But the problem is that in 90% of the cases the scenario description isnt right any longer! Kill the rats --> only ghosts and bats, Orcish invasion --> only one unit of orcs etc etc - apart from that really nice game!

Lacks a lot in gameplay. I don't like having to replay a level 3 times just to see what kind of enemies will come next. And needs shortcuts.

Nicely done. This version definitely pushes the envelope in the amount of stuff that can be crammed into a flash game. But there's the rub. I was initially attracted to flash games like the earlier protectors, because I don't have the time to devote to full blown games anymore. (Yes, I would rather chill with my kiddos.) I know I come off as a crank, but flash games should be simple pleasures like the perfect diner cheeseburger and not try to be a hickory smoked, truffle oil infused kobe beef burger with brie and a shallot/sherry vinegar/green peppercorn reduction.

Not sure if its a bug but.. After i aquired the skill Charm, im getting NaN experience on every stage im doing. Or is it some other bug thing? :P
Awesome game btw.. Very nice combo of TD, Puzzle and RPG! Keep up the awesome work, you got a new huge fan here ;)

to use items, click them then click one of 3 spaces on the bottom next to inventory(you have to select a hero before the spaces appear)

Does anyone else see a problem with the people that cant play TD's well so they do something along the lines of this. "I beat the first level and then i failed over and over again because i suck so this is a 1/5, im going to play Cursed Treasure now because i can win that."

I must admit this game is technically impressive, anyway I can't say I agree with most of your choices when you programmed this game:
1) Why can't I check the "whole" wave list "before" entering a level instead of just giving an advice on the element? There are a good amount of random levels where I'd love to pick my heroes better.
2) Why are the golds and the exp given every time? Serously that makes this game a grindfeast; repeating the same level over and over. Gemcraft 0 manages this feature much better rewarding the player just basing on the increment of the level score.

This game is far to easy... Get all 4 items that allow you to change your Skill and ALWAYS use the third hero (has Trainee and Archmage), invest in Magic and Elemental. You should be destroying everything... My Trainee's were doing over 300 damage on enemies weak to they're element... Kinda lame >.>

This game has everything!
I thought the last Protector game was good and then you go and encorporate all possible RPG elements into it :) 5/5

It's not just you mittens. I think Failure at the beginning is a key factor to this game. The cool thing about the protector series is it's almost a puzzle getting the right mix of units in a map. I'm hoping that normal quests continually pop up. because I have failed a few I'd like another crack at.

Well, nice, and I didn't expect it. Significantly more difficult than the second and the third ones. I'm having difficulties with completing non-storyline quests currently. But the complexity, creativity and non-linearity of the game is amazing. Many thanks to the developer!

@roflcopterx1 Go to the Hero Tab on the left and once you click on a Hero, at the bottom will be your items you can equip to a Hero.
Side note, is there any way to remove a Unit after you place it?
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
maybe you could add a stat box when you mouse over the units to see its basic attacks because i want to know the difference between some advanced units like the gladiator vs. knight vs. paladin. please plus this comment so we can get some where

I think game is too complex and there are too much skills and items to deal with. Gameplay is too hard at the beginning and the game should guide me for the first level, how to play best. The quest places should be arranged on a path, because it will be easier to see, which levels i have already played and how difficult they are. I liked the third part of this game much more
