The hard mode is very challenging, with stage 9 being hardest. For the last two stages going straight for enemy command center is easier. You can manipulate AI's advance route with road blocks and commandos on structure and thus avoid most enemy in stage 9. For stage 10 it is very important you block the right factory near enemy headquarter with submarine.

To quickly win the bonus map going the Sea route holds the easiest prospects. If you want a challenge going by land is near suicide.

The problem with the AI is that it doesn't spend money to make more troops. My tanks were completely destroyed by the stealth tanks, but my ships won the battle in the sea. After that, the enemy troops did nothing, they didin't use their money to make ships or capture my buildings. Fortunately, it happened just in one level of the game, but I love it anyway. (Sorry if something is wrong, English is not my primary language).

I fell in love with this game and Battalion Arena. There was a guy working on making a substitute and it was supposed to be out already but I think he stopped because his forum for the new game is down and I cannot locate anything about the new game.

This is a really fun game up until Chapter 9 where it stops being fun and just becomes an uphill grind where you're punished for playing.
I'mn entirely sure that its beatable, but I play games for fun not because I enjoy beating my head against a wall.

Campaign completed – This can technically be done on any difficulty setting, but you're lame if you do it on "easy." Oh :(

At last! I completed whole campaign on hard! I encountered Battalion series in 2010 starting from Ghost and completed all campaings on hard except of this one. First difficulties I have encountered on 8 mission when after enemy captured air control he went mass condors,which you basically cannot counter without air units and that "delay" at end of each turn.
I remember somehow beating level 8,but didn`t try much on level 9. That "delay" made game so painful. Now in 2018 computing power went up and it isn`t as noticeable as in 2010,but you can notice that in the late game AI has tons of money and is not making units. I guess that developers during playtesting were tired and decided "Ok If somebody can survive to this point let him win. He has enough patience and has some strategy skill". I decided to try once more and beated 8 level without much toruble. I struggled a bit in 9 level,but after reading some comments I defeated it easily. Then few tries later completed level 10.

Why, why did I insist on doing the last 2 levels on hard... the last level became never - ending fly swatting, each of us spawning 2-3 planes each round. The AI REALLY does not want to go down easy on that one.

I can never resume a level after I save! It's better if you play it whole and not save because then you have to start all over again.

I won the first bootcamp mission by destroying their base and somehow unlocked a secret mission where you control 4 spartans from halo but can't work out what you need to do to get it again.

Not a fun game for people who don't like combat games. Why does Kong INSIST on CONSTANTLY using these kinds of games for the BOTD? These Games and Zombie Games sadly are a recurring theme.

Start with producing many soldiers with bazooka and assault riffle, let them fly to their destination. By flying you can move them fast. Use heavy artillery from the navy to destroy the canons and heavy equipment from a large distance. When a soldier is hit take care that a new soldier can take over his place to get the facility in your possession.
It take some time but it's a game!

To anyone struggling with Mission 9 (any difficulty) check out this post. I took tips from most of these strategies and compiled that new knowledge together to come up with a strategy similar to this video's first turn (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zoVioSLfLGA), just keeping the plane alive and one of the commandos in the boat for exxtra fodder later. I only captured the refineries by the sea statue, the land statue, and the on closest to the southern-most warfactory and stalled with battlecruisers, picking enemies off from a distance. Once rond 15 hits, the enemy's production grinds down to almost non-existant. Keep picking off enemies and use subs to block off the two sea entrances. Good luck! This was on Medium btw, Idk if the same strat works on hard.

Funny story - I was attempting stage 9 on hard and found it nearly impossible, and on my third try I just decided to let it play out when I was losing pretty bad. I lost all my units except for both planes, and had to sacrifice one to destroy the commando that was about to take my only factory (and had already taken my ground control). However, I managed to slip by the huge flak tank clump and get into the center of the map. At this point the AI apparently forgot how to make units, so the one rocket truck he had chased me around unsuccessfully. I saved up until I had over $5000 and made an army of ships (mostly battlecruisers), which I slowly pulled out of my only factory. I then proceeded to wipe out the AI army, because the AI still wasn't producing units.
TL;DR Stage 9 hard mode is absurdly difficult but it balances out by the AI breaking after destroying almost all your units. Survived with one plane, then made a ship army and won.

biggest problem is when the AI stops producing units, when it has bases clear, and money in the bank.. the AI just gives up
