I got a Combat Ribbon (100 kills in one mission). I also got promoted to 1st. Lt. But it was so random...I actually just used my first 10-12 tact points to bring in French troops.

I personally dont like spec ops guys cause any time they have grenades, the just throw them like its a party or something..

Sorry about all the comments, commenting as I go. Wire is not useless. Sometimes soldiers get caught on them and take a lot of damage.

Has anyone else gotten any ribbons or have any tips/ startegies that are very helpful? I can never really get enough points to set up a decent base or ever use vehicles or air strikes of any kind.

Absolutely great idea, but the soldiers seem to gain experience SO slowly, and for their xp to affect their accuracy seems a little unfair. Possibly a little better accuracy increase per kill would be better

check out urbanprophet.com which is the developers web site. The forums there have a lot of helpful info which helped me discover all this stuff. BETTER TUTORiAL PLZZZZ!!!!

Random bug, scene change and replayed intro text. Happened when a bunch of enemy snipers were coming and I called in a bomb. Officer died during.

Haven't really figured out the rank bonuses or ribbons but I did somehow reach the second rank and got two ribbons during a particularly lucky game. I think ranks are based on how well you do, but not sure of any real requirements. Ribbons have hidden requirements but the ones I got were surviving 50 waves and another was for killing 100 enemy units. One ribbon gave +3% starting rifle skill for all units and the other was 1% chance to start with an extra soldier at the beginning of a game. Not real helpful but okay I guess. The rank up did nothing but it appears once you reach certain ranks you can use special abilities.

some enhancements which would really help
1) way to turn off Transparency on the tooltips - they're nearly unreadable if they're over a tree or something
2) way to turn off the control icons. if i accidentally send one of my units under one he's no longer clickable
3) refunds? upgrading the same guy with the same weapon 4 times will charge me Tactical points all 4 times, with no visible effect. would have been less annoying if i could tell which weapon is which from the icon...

I saved up points to build a bunker...that no one can fire out of, lamest thing I've ever seen. Thats the only reason bunkers were ever built...

this game needs some serious balancing..and i also don't understand how you utilize the rank bonuses at the start, cause i dont get how to rank up.

I had a soldier with 100 experience, 120 rifle and 89 morale. He was kicking arse with his M1. It was basically going off like a machine gun. I had his HP up to 200, but the stupid corpsmen wouldn't stay to heal him all the way up. Then a bomb landed in the trench he was in and it was all over.
That's just not fun at all. In any RTS game you can protect a valuable unit. In this one it's all just random. Now, I know that this makes it more "realistic" because real war is chaotic, but come on...A game has to have some order to it, otherwise it's not very fun to play.

I really want to like this game, but it's like watching paint dry... and the painter's too stupid not to paint his colleagues... and then it all explodes... KABOOM!.... and no, clicking Air Superiority every 60 seconds is not an acceptable countermeasure to that.
Unless this game gets a major overhaul, it's just a failure.

my biggest problem is how like its slow as shit, guys are annihilating the enemy with almost no resistance, then like a battalion of flame throwers and rocket launchers come out of nowhere and just completely demolish my troops. The game is way slow...

To bfootballm63:
The point of this game is to survive as long as possible. You can change area by moving your entire squad to the very top of the screen. The battlefield changes and you get another tactical point, but doesn't do much else as far as I can tell. Your best bet is to go up a couple screens at the beginning to help build up points and a strong squad, then dig in and hope for the best. The difficulty curve is high so eventually you will die. So far my high score is around 1200.

needs to have better explanations. i understand tactical points and how to use them, but how exactly are they gained? and how does the commander get promoted? 4/5 tho

For those of you confused, you aquire tactical points with the start of each wave. You get 2 for the first 5 or 10 waves, I can't remember, and then one for each wave after. You can also get another tactical point by sending all your troops to the very top of the screen and moving on to the next section.
The game is very random, hard, and confusing initially, but I do like the it and have already spent somewhere around 3 or 4 hours playing it.

It's pretty good, but it would be better if 1. People could actually fire from bunkers 2. When someone walks past 2 or 3 bunkers, with people in each, they should die 3. Abbility to put machine guns in bunkers 4. Maybe for each person you kill, you get a tactical point 5. tanks and jeeps actually fire
That's all I got but other than that, it's a pretty good game

I LOVE this game! Although the randomness of enemies is sometimes annoying...got hit by arty strike at the 3rd enemy wave o_o

I like the game but how do you get tactical points, do they just come randomly or is there something I could do to get them?
