Like other have said it's a great game. The best part, by far, is the middle of the game, after you get over the hard beginning and before you start having too much money to know what to do with.
There is a problem with the amount of money you get by the end of the game, and the quality of your troops. For the last 5-10 cities I was able to do nothing and win without losing any troops, which was kinda strange.

A pretty fun game, but as the others have pointed out, once you're past the initial hump and build some momentum, it gets really easy. Also, I don't know about you guys, but all I needed were a few really high HP meat shields up front, and a demolisher or two behind. Then all I had to do was sit back and spam the heal-all-units items. It's just too slow to play the 1v1 hero, you're better off maxing your Int and the unit hp skills, and throwing greek fire yourself. Most of the time your mounted units are in the enemy's face by the time you even moved a few steps from the rear anyway.

Best unit for nations list:
For romans, it's the Golden rider at Alexandria.
For Japanese, it's the Black Samurai at Echigo
For Forest people, it's the Great Heroes at Grouzeno (these are the strongest units in game, other than you)
For the British soldiers, it's Crusaders at Wanderburg.
The reason you want to get the best unit that is part of your nation is to take full advantage of the patriorism skill. For example, if you have a black samurai and you have japanese nation and you got full patriotism. Your black samurai could easily beat a Great Hero hands down.

Waitin for the sequel... XD
Anyways,
@shadow9t6: The reason the cities that you haven't captures yet are red, it's because when you capture one of their cities, all of their other cities will turn against you.

when a city is red, that means that if u go to that city, than they will automatically attack u because u became their enemy. U become an enemy by taking over one of their city types. E.G. If u take over something like Dalnevodye, then u will have enemy cities of all the cities that look like Dalnevodye.

or if you get 200 intelligence 100 art of war and patriotism and basic troops like those 40gp people can take over most cities with limited casualties

You people need black samurai and great heros to take over the world? get 4 pieces of mysterious something of death and as long as one of them is a ranged weapon you can 1 hit kill

After the first 5 or 6 cities it's very repetitive. Plus I had an army about halfway through that didn't even lose a man in big city battles, but bandits are stopping US on the road? yeah, right. MAYbe other travelling warlords, but not bandits.
The skill system is fine, but I only ever used the Art of War and my weapon skill; maybe Nationalism after those maxed.

good in the beginning, but after a certain point of strenght and money (which reslut in almost infinite troops) it gets boring.

The steel 2handed sword of death is all you need to hit 500+ damage. When you are selling your items, dont sell the ones covered with blue.

Captured everything, but I haven't been able to hit over five hundred. Nevertheless, it was a fun game, even though it got a bit boring when you're way too powerful. I disliked using troops since they got in the way, so I just fought everyone ^^

wow, pretty addictive...
i find it's easy to play as ninja, and when you got to echigo, recruit black samurais, combine it with ghost bowmen then you are "almost" invicible...
oh and great heros are also good, you just have to keep those ghost bowmen around :) 5/5
