Hints for this game: If you buy and sell the same products the prices will increase and the profits will decrease after each purchase and sell. Supply goes up, demand goes down. To help with this buy other things, sell those, mix it up. It will bring up the sale right of the other things for every other thing you buy and sell. Upgrading the ships: While it's true that you have to study every thing to get to all the upgrades, there's a trick you can pull off that makes them cheaper to buy with money. If there's a similar upgrade that's further along the upgrade tree you can buy that and it will buy the other upgrade without costing more money and you DO get credit towards your ship stats for the others.

@Erik: You've pretty much got most of it right. The way I finally beat it was I realized I was attacking inefficiently. You have to maximize your damage to the hull but prioritize the number of attacks. Say you have 35 AP - shoot the hull once, quickshot the rest. 50 AP? 1 hull shot and 2 quickshots. Always get the most bang for your buck and never end up with extra AP. That (barely) won it for me.
Hope that helps!

Would be nice if it's a bit harder at later stage, for example the enemy can have more ships --- the aiming & boarding is horribly strong that kills everything within 1 or 2 turns.

so even with everything maxed out cant kill ghostship...and im usin ship of the line, and maxed out exp and usin dual hull attack

I have 3 Pinnacles, hull strength 555, fully upgraded. Not enough to outlast the Dutchman. I've been sailing port to port for like, ever, and I'm filthy rich, but can't beat him. What other ships should I try?

oh my, as wonderfully executed as this game is it can be the springboard to a real barnburner - i played wooden ships and iron men as a kid and this has the capability of being that but also with gazillionaire mixed in -- a guns-for-butter game with cool graphics -- please please put out the super geek version for us hard core brain-over-finger types =)

Was that it? The ending was such a disappointment. All that work and then to just get a single line as an end. I'd have rather a bit more celebration, a bit more you are a great hero, you save your sister, you defeat the ghost pirate ship HOORAH! Not just here's the menu screen. I felt so disappointed, which was a pity since it's otherwise a great game.

I can't defeat the final battle. Based on the stats, the right path is more attack while the left path is more cargo transport ships. So I got 3 of the Ship of the Lines and upgraded them. I attack the hull and use dynamite. I don't come close. I tried getting one of the clippers, maxed it out, still no, and it was even worse. I looked at videos but trying to look at what ships they're using and they're using weaker ships. I tried getting a Barque, and it was worse too. The videos use dynamite and attack hull, so at least i'm doing that right. I see there's hacked version and different versions of the game so I'm assuming those videos are from those. What am I missing?

Best strategy to deal the most damage to any ship (including boss fight) is to select dynamite with "aim at hull." With fully upgraded top-tier ships- it shouldn't take more than 10 turns to defeat the Dutchman.

Me: What's my alignment?
Narrator: Lawful Good. In theory.
Me: So if I rebuild my fleet by raiding ships I'll need to make sure they're pirate ships first.

If the weakest fleet attacks first than I must have some hidden talent somewhere cause I attacked second with my fleet of 30 hp ships going against 400 hp ships

I completely failed. I have 2 gold and 91 WP which is worthless. I'm stuck with two towns conquered. Unless I'm missing something, I'm completely screwed and have no way of making a fresh go of it. Meh.

So the weaker fleet goes first right? Well let me tell you why that's bs, I have 3 ships, 2 Carrack, and 1 Cog. I attacked a town that had 3 Galleons (Panama) and somehow they went first and completely just wiped me out without a problem. Still a good game though.

What are the different damage types? (my observations)
Aim Sails: Shots seem to do less damage but remove more of the enemy's AP making them able to shoot less.
Aim Hull: Shots seem to do the MOST damage to enemy..reduces AP very little.
Aim Crew: Make the ship easier to board (which instantly removes that ship from battle)
You don't have to defeat the enemy ships to win..just get all undestroyed enemy ships' AP below 15.

A few things I noticed that may help people.
Sometimes, it seems like combat has bugged out. It only 'kind' of has. The ship selected to attack has no AP...click one of your other ships and you can take your turn.
Also, shooting the enemy drops their AP. It's not always best to KILL an enemy..it's better to drop their AP below 30 so they can only fire once.

If you have everything upgraded and the boss fight seems hard, use these two simple things.
1. Use the target Hull, instead of the quick shot.
2. Use the upgraded fire shots, which do like 5x damage. Many people foret these exist, and they cost money each shot, but since it's the end of the game, go balls to the wall and use the expensive shots for 5k each until the fight is over.
If you have a fully upgraded fleet, the last boss is SUPER easy.

I can't do anything because I lost a ship and didn't have enough gold to repair it and every time I go to fight I automatically lose because my ship is already destroyed and I lose 1 gold each time. I'M STUCK!
