@sarte: Here's your tactic for the Flying Dutchman.
Have three Ships of the Line, fully upgraded. Amass enough money that you can use Dynamite throughout the battle. Then it's just aimed shots at the hull. Boom.
Also, my guess is that it's "unfair", because it's the final boss.

I have to say that the ridiculously unfair flying dutchman is really the only thing that's wrong in this game. Killing it seems to be down to luck. There seems to be no obvious tactic because only hull hits hurt her. I really don't understand why the dutchman has to be so unfair opponent? Developer run out of ideas?

Best part about this game, i was able to play it while wasted off my ass. yet it was still difficult. thank god for spell check.

what do the different attacks do? does attacking sail as opposed to hull or crew make a difference in the gold, cargo or wp you get? Could really use more details on the ship battles. nice game tho. I love it.

It would be really cool to include a way to win the game. I faced the ghost ship with the best ships possible (last ship on the right) with maximum upgrades. I aimed for the hull on each shot and used dynamite through the whole battle and got the ghost ship to half health. If I'm doing something wrong, the game wasn't designed well enough to tell me, and I'm not even going to bother to find out.

Yeah, the game is clean and polished and the mechanics work, but it's not fun. There's no depth. I found myself just trying to click through battles as fast as possible to grind up WP for the next ship class so I could move on. There was no challenge, even using regular ammo and ending the game with a million gold.

if you want more of a challenge, play the whole game with a maximum of 2 ships. except perhaps in the final... 3 minutes

@nau987 That's the purpose of dynamite, also you can get cheat ships with higher than maximum stats by buying the upgrades at the end of the upgrading tree.

Developer, i don't know why you done left branch of shipbuilding, because it's useless(the last ship in left branch have 1/2 stats of last ship in right branch) and some cheat if you engraging (?lvl)ship, because he much stronger that other ships and if you die in battle with ?lvl ship, you get very much battle points that other ships

You can drag the ship tree down to access the bigger ships, can be easy to miss at first.Added your text in "Instructions" section, thank you.

actually, you regenerate ap at the beginning of each of your turns. Crew members seem to only affect boarding - the ratio of your crew to theirs affects the probability of your success

The dutch needs to do more damage, less health. To win, you have to buy dynamite, and even then it is close. If you lose, you have to pay for repairs, then you have to spend obnoxious time grinding to get more money to get dynamite ammo.

Does the "Weakest fleet attacks first" thing only apply to when you fight on the seas and not towns? because if it applies to towns HORSESHIT.

The ships' stats are misleading. I find that with full upgrades, a clipper (dmg 400) consistently deals about twice as much damage as a ship of the line (dmg 440).

ALWAYS sell your ship before buying a new one, you get money back if you sell, but if you just buy a new one it costs full amount, without getting any back from your current ship.
Also, make sure you have no cargo on that ship before upgrading, you will lose it.

I have a small but possible threat from a bug in this game. If a ship is leaving your radius allowed to travel and you attack him, you can get a much larger radius, with the huge problem of not being able to re enter the ports inside the radius until you commit suicide, attack a settlement, or land on a port that is pirate free.

how fast you regain ap is related to the number of crew members. Sail is correlated to how much ap you can have. You can guess what cargo does. Damage is the average amount of damage between the minimum and maximum damage you can do. + up if this helps!

Great game just finished it, it gets a bit dull by the end, i ended up losing to the last ship, so i had to grind up full money again, but other than that enjoyable time, and did it in 1 go :) 4/5

Bug: If you study all the upgrades in a series and just purchase the last one you get charged only for that but you get the effect of all of them
