While its not a huge problem, when i buy a new ship i noticed i lose the cargo i bought that was in the old ship. its easily avoided but can sometimes be an issue, other than that its a well done game with a nice combination of trading and raiding. could use a little more plot or backstory though

was fun, not sure how useful the trade side is tho considering the last boss is a battle and you get more money than you can ever spend as a combat ship. For those who don't understand the battle options: quick shot damages sail, hull and crew a little bit, boarding gives you a % chance of inta-kill and the other options do major damage to either hull crew or sail with a bit of damage to the other components. Hull is your life, at 0 your ship is destroyed, sail is your AP, a ship with less than 15 AP is considered dead as it can't fight and crew influences the likelihood of a successful boarding.

If your having trouble defeating the flying dutchman, aim to the hull and use the most expensive shot that you can. you have to have all the upgrades for the best ship also. i barely beat it but its possible.

Well, how nice. All my ships and accomplishments apparently disappeared. Guess I won't be back to this game just to rebuild everything.

Ebaran, those upgrades really add up. Also, it's the last battle of the game. Don't shirk on the Dynamite ammo option. It might cost 5k per shot, but as long as you aren't buying merchant vessels money is a joke anyway

Last town to Dutchman, an easy guide.
NOTE: this assumes you trade all the time to keep funds, this is a fast but very expensive method
After capturing the last town you can see the Dman on the map, now go fight and loose against it. We're doing this because you get ~1500 war points every time you loose to the Dutchman so we can power level our ships, next get ships of the line and max out damage and hull.
now go trade ALOT get about 2 million gold (trade gunpowder, silver and rum) once you have that and maxed ships of the line go fight the Dutchman, load the most expensive shot (5000 gold a shot) and aim hull or do quick shot, the boss has no crew or sail so you can't slow him down.
good luck :)

Just FYI, if you are having trouble beating the Dutchman, have you checked out the achievements screen to upgrade things like overall damage, accuracy, action points and hull?? can be found by clicking on the star in the lower left when looking at your fleet.

The step from taking the first four cities up to any of the next ones is pretty huge. Not much fun having to save up forever just to keep moving forward. I'll keep going for a bit...

I kept trying to beat the flying dutchman, but I didn't know there were stars you could use to improve your ships. . .

Erm VOGD you said the weakest fleet attacks first, But when i attack the pirate areas I cant attack first though they are much much better and stronger.

I retract my previous comment. I didn't realize, when in port, there was a star to upgrade things like hull, ap, etc. Lol.

I enjoyed it but it was too easy. It would be better if there was a penalty for losing battles so you had to be more careful about entering them. You should at least lose your cargo. Maybe on 'hard' mode you would lose your whole ship. The trading was good but could be better, maybe by adding news bulletins from ships you attack that give hints as to where you can find cheap goods, where there are shortages on goods etc. I could never work out the symbols on the countries. The ending was a bit abrupt and predictable. It would be good if there was some strategy to beating the boss other than just 'get the best ships possible and bombard hull'. Overall a good game, I hope you make a second.

To defeat the last boss just get the "line of the ships" ships or whatever its called on the right when you buy them fully upgrade them, use dynamite shots (5k shots) and aim for the hull. I survived with 3 of my ships still in tack so it was a good method.

Crew simply means people, if their are none left, the ship will just sit there disabled, unable to attack, so lets say the hall has 10000 armor but their is only 3 crew, target the crew for a fast end to the fight. Also the little dudes on the boat represent the % of crew left, so if there are still a lot of little dudes but only a big of ship, just kill the ship.
TLDR: target crew to avoid heavy armoured ships.

I cannot beat the last ship!! Everything is maxed out (I've tried both the clipper and ship of the line). I'm using the 5k bombs and I keep dying beofre I get the ghost ship under 15K. WHAT AM I DOING WRONG?!

There is something bugging me and I can't put my finger on it. That introductory song. I know it from somewhere. Any chance you can put out credits? It's killing me.
