Hmm. Well, so much for fomatting comments... Another design issue is that when the units are all bunched up, it becomes hard to select their icons and to see status. Maybe a separate bar with unit status and select to make it easier? I guess window real estate is an issue...

I like this game a lot, but I see a couple of design flaws:
- The player should easily be able to tell when approaching the deadly map edges - maybe show an interior "soft" boundary based on turning radius. I get that there has to be a limit, but not that the pilot would be blind to it.
- At the end of an engagement, planes just fly straight ahead for a bit, possibly taking damage from poison gas (I think). This when they could easily have avoided damage by turning. Either freeze the board or allow a final maneuver round.

This would be perfect to port to a tablet or smartphone for head-to-head multiplayer. It's exactly what all the tabletop gamers were promised at the dawn of computer strategy games - let the computer handle the rules, you just tell it what you want to do.

Dang! It's much harder than I expected-- I just gave up trying to get 4 stars after 1939 xD
But really, it's friggin good!

Wow getting poisoned by my own poison while releasing it in a FREAKING STRAIGHT LINE! Makes no sense, game is flawed.

Excellent game, however sometimes my planes take damage from their own gas clouds (While they are dropping them.. not like, when they fly through them after dropping them)

Honestly I'm not sure if I would like having upgrades and experience etc for this game. I think it's pretty amazing right now as is, where you have to make the best of the resources you're given for each level. I'm sure I'm in the minority though. Either way, a game of this caliber needs a sequel.

Played it through once again and perfected every level. The difficulty is quite challenging, but not impossible. Wish it had a Save-Function, but otherwise a great game!

1948 (monocular badge) walkthrough: fly your two planes in a line, with the gas one gassing behind the normal one. after you kill the 3 escorts, attack the big one with just the normal plane. (as it can turn around) keep it alive.

FLY OR DIE MULTIPLAYER is a better version of this type of game. It has different planes, lot's of competition... it's always fun regarless of your level of play... There you can team up with other players and coordinate differente attack strategies.

For those who like this game but already completed everything (like me), try playing the similar yet more complex multiplayer version, FLY OR DIE MULTIPLAYER. It has 7 different planes with different strategies, lots of abilities, lots of game options, lots of friendly players, clan wars, and its constantly updated with new and better things!

I'm sorry but is everyone here an imbecile? I can't believe my comment got voted down. What I said was that while this is an excellent game, why are there are World War 2 missions from 1946 onwards up to like 1950's?

@jagzthebest It's probably because the cold fusion engines caused the war to continue as they had faster and more powerful aircraft.
