As for upgrades: I don't see any reason for adding upgrades. The game is perfect the way it is. You have to win by your smart tactics alone, and the levels' design provides that you CAN win this way. During a war, you will neither be able to enter a shop and buy the equipments you like, you have to use the material you are given. (Besides: What yould you expect from it? Once you get upgrades, you can bet that your enemy will be made correspondingly stronger.) Yet I support the remark made by cannnoski: introducing different historical airplanes would be awesome, and would perfectly go with the character of the game.

Oh I also think it would be cool if you could get aircraft from the different time periods (Sopwith Camels and the like around 1917 or so and perhaps monoplanes in the 1930s).

after my savegame got lost, i gave it 2/5, then i played it all over again till the last mission and the next day my old save file got restored and i'm not on my last mission anymore =(
But ok, i'm happy for all whose save file got restored.Because of that i give it 4/5, although my old save file is crap against the new one, but what shell i say? I will play it again and hope there won't be new savegame problems =D

REALLY addicting game, should make it multiplayer but the ppl playing multiplay have to go against rthe germans and th4eres all the regular ships u have in mission just everyonr person playing it has to destroy the same amount of enemys with teamwork :) SO IF THERES A ZEPPLIN (ALL ATTACK IT FROM BEHIND!!!!! )

For some odd reason, I cannot get past the training. No matter how many times I complete it, it never takes it in account. This frustrates me, seeing it looks like an awesome game.

I am able to load it but when it gets to the "A game By" screen, it then goes blank. I can play it on my old PC which makes the game lag. so I don't see why there should be any problem.?

it actaully loads now. FOR kongregate: a lot of games on your great website are too old or new for an imac. thx for fixing this one but there are still others which need fixing

Excellent game, really looking forward to that mentioned in "future versions!" Pretty darn difficult, especially getting 4 stars, but the learning curve is fine.

The secret to taking down the blimp is that its firing range is just a bit shorter than your planes. Thus, you can take them down without getting hit as long as you never get too close to them.

5/5 took me a day or so to get "National Hero" but I had a lot of fun doing it. Looking forward to game improvements if you get around to it!

this steambirds game as a huge annoying flaw. if you get close to the border it throws your damn order buttons off the screen and bye bye plane

I could also see this becoming a great Multi-player game. The turn-based setup and Team 1, Team 2, features scream Multi-player.

I have the map-scrolling problem, and still got all the badges.
In 1948, you have one craft with gas, one with boost. The one with poison simply keeps heading straight, gassing in alternate turns. The other craft boosts just enough to keep ahead of the gas, weaving back and forth to entice the chase planes to run through the gas.
When the boost craft gets near the scrolling wall, turn it. The last chase plane is just getting enough gas to go down. Now it's a simply matter to loop back and tail-kick the slow craft into the ground. 4 stars.
I'm not perfect; I finished with 53 stars on 15 missions.

5/5! Needs upgrades! And to have a final cut scene after every level to watch all the moves you made in a seamless video would be cool! Not to mention helpful on what you do wrong strategy wise.
