I've never been into starship/space adventure type stories, but I still found this game's story to be incredibly engaging. And the dialogue was amazing. 5/5 + favorite.

tl:dr'd all the dialogue and plot. This reminds me of dreamfall in that as much as the dev would like to think they are making interesting developed characters, I just wish they would get to the point. Don't have time to read a novel.

SPOILER ALERT
I wish the option that gave Star a life could be voted for in the ending! That's the ending that meant the most to me, and the one I enjoyed the most. Also, I wish I could have ended up with Deadeye. ;-;

A lot of people give this game 5-stars because of the "storyline", huh? If this level of creativity could get you 5-stars, maybe I should start writing fantasy novels.

This is what a real RPG should be. The gameplay was very simple, but amusing nonetheless. But the characters, the dialogue, the plot of the story, it was all so touching and it drew the player into that world. It was an utter delight playing this game.

Just so people know, escaping from battle (quitting in the middle of the level) doesn't count towards you're death count (Which is essential for Ginny's ending and the secret ending, where you Can't die at all on hard mode until the 3rd World). However, if you die and leave the page, the game will auto-save before you leave, and you'll still have one death.

This is the most amazing flash game ever created. This is also the only flash game that was able to make me shed a few tears, twice.

although IMO the gameplay was unexciting and repetitive, the story, the dialogue, the everything else is well worth a 5. Well done!

A remarkable Arcade-gaming experience. I can honestly say, It's been some time since I played something with that much depth and character, even coming from a major developer. The story was well written and moving, with a nice plot-twist near the end. The characters were believable and well developed, and even though it sometimes strained my suspension of disbelief, and I felt the gameplay became somewhat monotonous and repetitive midway through the second system when I realized I was just rehashing the levels from the first; I enjoyed it all the way through and WANTED to get to the end because I sincerely wanted to know what happened (And what the Hell was going on)! Excellent, Top-Notch.

Awesome game! One suggestion, though... Could the notes on modifier changes for upgraded guns show how much they change from your current level, rather than just the level before it? Right now, if you have a level 5 gun and a level 6 and 7 are both available, they show the same changes in stats in green because they're displaying the benefits of just one level

If there's one thing that I have to sadly complain about this wonderful game, it's that the barriers that hurt and stop your ship can be nearly invisible with the background; this is very bad in the Great Forest. I've gotten killed more than once from unknowingly being stopped and pushed off the side. Other than that, this is a truly wonderful game, easy 5/5.

OK, for those wondering, to get the endings, you need to talk to each person exactly 9 times in the cafe. Everyone but mare and swig have requirements you need to meet before they show up, for example, you need to have a certain amount of moola to talk to Jhonny. There IS a way to talk to EVERYONE 9 times, and MrRubix was kind enough to post it on this page, it's REALLY complicated so if you want to get all of the endings then follow the guide :P ==> http://www.kongregate.com/forums/3/topics/175829?page=3

For a game in which the actual 'game' aspect is average at best (and by 'game' i mean the part where you fly around and blow stuff up), this is the one game that is the most deserving of a five star rating on Kongregate, which is exactly the rating I gave it when I was done. A game like this brought back feelings and emotions I hadn't felt since the first time I had ever played through Final Fantasy VII, where every detail about the characters and the story I longed to be a part of. And the reason it won a five star rating from me is because the past 7 hours I have spent on Kongregate were the most enjoyable ones I can remember ever having experienced.

If you want all endings. this is one of the few ways to do it. Read it carefully. Basically you need a lot of money, a lot of weapons, a lot of mods, no deaths, and a lot of kills. Also, you must be on hard mode. You have to follow a certain pattern (only a few work) with the people in the cafe.

The story and it's development is amazing, but having to avoid terrain in a side-scrolling shooter is just about the most annoying thing ever.

I rarely, very rarely, bother to offer a comment on these games. But this game is a grade above the rest on this site. You should be able to get a job with any game studio you want. The plot on this game was better than any of the drivel Square has been putting out for years. Bravo to you. Please take your talents to the next level.

I wish there had been more endings, since throughout the whole game I had been hoping one of the endings could involve deadeye. Great game though, 5/5!

DON'T CLEAR YOUR CACHE OR YOUR SAVED GAME WILL BE GONE FOREVER. PLEASE RATE UP SO PEOPLE KNOW THIS AND DON'T WASTE HOURS LIKE I DID.

Surprisingly enjoyable for a shooter. The RPG bit is well written and interesting, and frankly I enjoy female characters that aren't boobs with guns. The action and upgrade aspects are also well done, making what could be an unnecessarily complicated stats system very easy and intuitive. Good music, interesting characters and dialog, drones and bosses that are a challenge...not bad at all, xdanond.

One of the best games in kongregate, beatiful stages, great soundtrack, multiple endings and one of the best stories ever!!
1000/5 and fave, if you make a sequel (which i´m sure will be hard to surpass) I will be waiting patiently to play it, now let´s go hard mode!!!

It's happened a few times so I felt the need to add this comment. Love the game, but there seems to be a bug in some of the later levels. On both the Remains of Lucerna and the Forbidden City I've come across situations where I'll be flying close to a wall and get sort of sucked into it. Or in the area surrounding it my directional keys get messed up. I've only experienced it on those so far, but if you could fix this bug it'd be super cool. Thanks.

@DragunEagle I didn't even have those last two as options, but I had Deadeye's and Bamboo's. I think it depends on how you answer the initial questions and who you choose to talk to in the cafe.

dammit! your loading screen made me listen to Vocaloid- Ievan Polkka for the past 2 hours... oh well, its been AGES since a game full of text had made me want to read all of it! and finally!! a game where you cannot make the mistake of buying worse weapons than you allready have! 5/5 for being such simple gameplay, yet still interesting enough to play

Wow... have to say the sheer amount of effort and creativity that you put into this game is top-notch. The soundtrack was beautiful, it really flowed with the game and just enhanced the player's connection to the game itself. I hope that there will be a sequel but if not thanks for bringing this gem to us. 11/10 s right this game goes to 11

When I first saw the weabooish graphics I thought I as going to be in for a horrible, poorly written, unfunny storyline. Oh, how WRONG I was. This Deuce guy? Hilarious. 5 stars.
